If you've never heard of the incredible experience that is Everything is Terrible, to put it in easily digestible terms, it's a site that turns found footage into viral videos. But that's just how WGN Morning News in Chicago described it to their work-a-day primary demographic. In essence, they take all-natural footage from real VHS tapes - the most ridiculous, terrible, corny, clueless clips - and post it on their website. There's a heavy influence on bad acting, misguided religious programming, creepy puppets, creepy kids, bad public assess programming, outdated technology and unnecessary instructional videos. It ranges from a disturbing show about a man who teaches yoga to kids on a farm with his friend, Rasta the Rastafarian Rooster, to Vincent Price promoting bad 3D technology to a video on how to make out.

What their main projects are, however, are movies. Splicing together bits of clips into something that vaguely resembles a narrative, they end up at the same time being incredibly silly, hilarious and presenting a distorted image of our misguided, takes-itself-too-seriously world. They're touring with new film, 2 Everything 2 Terrible 2: Tokyo Drift, and it's an incredible experience. I caught the first show and it was the best $10 I ever spent. Seriously. It's incredible fun. They do live bits and everything. It's a great time.

At least check out the website, but if you can, if it's at all remotely possible, you should really go see their show. They're an independent art project and they're doing something new, interesting and amazing and putting a ton of hard work (and their souls) into it, so it's really worth supporting.

Here's their tour schedule, including past dates, so you know if you missed out and can feel extra bad about it:

Do it, Chicken Brutus! You won't regret it! When I say "best $10 I ever spent," I say that with the fullest meaning its words could contain. THE ABSOLUTE FULLEST.
