@RevolverLink I LOVE Tennant! He's a joker alright, but when he's sad/serious, you know he's sad/serious. Smith just seems a little over the top, but I think that it might be a good thin, sometimes.
For the companions though, I prefer Amy by far. Rose is just so annoying at first, then she does stuff that seem out of nowhere, or hard to understand. Sometime, the things she does makes me want to scream. Amy's just smarter, it seems.

Ever since the beginning of 2010 I didn't majorly favor Amy, but I didn't loathe her either. Even after seeing yesterday's episode, I just accepted that she was a companion despite her not being my overall favorite and that's it. I'd say i'd be horrible if I didn't miss her, but i'd be lying if I said I didn't miss her a tiny bit. Yup, those are my two cents. Take it for what it's worth.

Wooo Doctor Who! It's only my favourite show ever. I got into the show when Tennant was leaving but I went back to Series 1 and watched them all from there. So Tennant will always be my Doctor. Matt Smith does an excellent job though. If I wasn't forever tied to Tennant I would say Smith is the best. I have only watched a handful of Classic Who episodes though as it's not so easy to come by those episodes. As for my favourite companion, that goes to Donna Noble (gotta love Catherine Tate!) but Amy is awesome too. I watched the Series 7 Part 1 finale last night and it was epic and heartbreaking, so sad to see them go. Bring on Christmas I say!

#10 is someone who makes his emotions and expressions clear, but not as "scary" as #9's. #11, personally, while he doesn't show as much of a "giddly glad" sense as #10, he's still very, appropriately enough, cool.

@Geonjaha I agree with you that the writing hasn't been as good since Steven Moffat took over but at least he's not obsessed with the Daleks like Russel T. Davies was. They may be the series' most well-known villains but he bought them back too often, they didn't return that often in the classic series.
I wouldnt agree with you on that. I thought that the Dalek episodes were at least well done under Russel T. Davies. Looking at 'Parliament of the Daleks'...ugh.

I think that Russel T. Davies' Dalek episodes were better too, I just think he bought them back too much. There was no need for them to be in every series.
I'm very glad the 9th Doctor was only around for one season, I would've probably stopped watching Doctor Who otherwise, it was horrendously boring then, barely worth watching.
With all that has happened in the most recent episode... Christmas seems so very far away.

Watched quite a bit of the classics on netflix, the huge ammount of missing episodes was annoying though it ruined the continuity, you'd be on one set of characters stoyline then before it finished you where halfway into another story arc with new characters all together and I was really enjoying it too :/
@sykotek Wow, you're the first person I've heard of who likes Matt Smith that much. I've seen all 11 and he's one of my least favourites. He's definitely my least favourite of the new ones but he's still okay. He's just too silly at times, David Tennant was funny and eccentric without being too silly. Also, it seems like Amy acts more competent than the Doctor at times.

Definitely this. David Tennant was funny - but could be serious when he needs to, and did it well. Matt Smith just cant be taken as seriously when he needs to be. I loved Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor as well - he wasn't as good as David Tennant, but he beats Matt Smith easily (at least imo). Matt Smith represents a younger audience, and I know Doctor Who is at heart a childrens TV show - but he just doesnt seem to fit the role as well as the others.
@FonistofCruxis & @Geonjaha: Different strokes for different folks. I'm not shocked that I may be the only one who likes Matt Smith as the Doctor, my wife actually prefers David Tennant, but I just can't even go back to rewatch the 9th Doctor episodes, they're too bland, boring, and overacted.
Sometimes, I think I take into account everything into my preference. In my opinion, everything has been done better these latest seasons of Doctor Who compared to the 10th Doctor's series.
It's hard to pinpoint, but at the very least, possibly the biggest change over the earlier seasons, if I had to narrow it down to one that any person coming into the series can understand... the musical score has been masterfully done since the inception of the 11th Doctor and can now really get you emotionally invested in the various situations the Doctor and his companions get into.
Another thing is, I've also always been a fan of overarching or unified storylines, so maybe that's where else we differ as the previous Doctor stories are more one-offs or if there is an overarching theme, it was poorly done. The cracks in the fabric of time and the ominous Silence were also very well done story arcs in comparison to Blah Wolf.
Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read my essay, I don't really have much else to say, but I have my preferences and I've backed them up.
Here is some other things I can rank since everyone has their own preferences to generate discussion.
Favorite Main Companions:
Amy Pond > River Song > Martha Jones > Donna Noble > Rory Williams > > > > > Rose Tyler
Favorite Recurring Enemies:
Weeping Angels > Daleks > > Cybermen ...that's it, can't think of any other ones off the top of my head at the moment.

@Sykotek My companions list would probably be similar to yours but with River Song lower down. I'm not sure who I like more out of Martha and Donna though. I'm not that fond of Rose either. I also hate how overly dramatic her leave was with the "This is the day I die" crap when she didn't die and then after all that, she returned later on. What's worse is that I've heard rumours that she's going to be coming back again.
As for your recurring enemies list, there was also the Slitheen and the Master but out of the three you mentioned, I would probably put them in the same order. After their second appearance, I thought the weeping angels were better as one-off enemies but that's changed after how good that last episode was. The Daleks are pretty good but they've been bought back way too much in the new series and if the Cybermen were the same as the classic ones then they would easily be my favourite enemies of the new series but instead we've got the parallel Cybermen which are nowhere near as cool as the classic ones. I would probably put the Master above the Daleks and the Slitheen would probably go either just below the cybermen.
And with absolutely no regrets, I revive this thread with a picture of something awesome I got today:
On that note:
Is anyone ready for the Christmas special? Wouldn't it be super creepy if at the end of Series 7, Clara said to herself: "You know, I've always like the name Oswin?"
