I threw this one out there because the only Doctor Who topic i've seen on this forum was from 2010 and I haven't seen any other Doctor Who topics within 6 months among the pages i've looked through on here.

Anyway...

Well his future self had moved to that thread but his present self hasn't. You know things don't happen to people in the correct order.

I've only watched the 9th, 10th, and 11th Doctors. ...11th is my favorite and Amy has been my favorite companion so far. Anyways, have you guys played the Doctor Who Adventure games from Sumo Digital? They're pretty well done actually and they give you a ton of background info on the series too. They're free for UK residents.

City of the Daleks
Blood of the Cybermen
TARDIS
Shadows of Vashta Nerada
The Gunpowder Plot

I heard they made a new game that's available on PSN, but I hear it sucks. Apparently it's glitchy and when fans contacted the devs (different developers), they laughed at them...or something to that effect. I considered picking up the DS game too, but it looked to be pretty much a straight rip on Professor Layton.

Most younger people nowadays only know about doctor's 9, 10, and 11. I liked 9's seriousness, 10's humor, and 11's style, but that doesn't mean those are necessarily the best qualities about them.

I've seen all the doctors (the ones before the ninth through DVDs) and my favourite is the fourth with the tenth in second. I'm not too fond of the eleventh doctor but at least he has Amy who is a great companion.

shingi_70

Yep only have seen the tree lastest doctors, torchwood, and the doctor episoides of SJA.

@Electricmastro: Yea, I watched a few episodes of Doctor Who on public access when I was a kid, but I just couldn't into them. I thought the new Doctor Who series kicked off horribly and it honestly really wasn't until the 10th Doctor that I started truly getting into the series. I'm glad the 9th Doctor (and then the rest of his cast), left when he did because I probably wouldn't have given the new series much more of a shot as he was really boring me. Starting with the 11th Doctor though, everything just clicked and I really noticed during episodes that the music department really began to pick it up to further develop the emotion or urgency of situations they'd get themselves into... and bringing back River Song was one of the best decisions made in Doctor Who in my opinion (well...of the new series since I never watched the older ones). I wasn't a fan of the short Amy intro for the newer openings, but I figured that was more for people just tuning in for the first time.

@Sony_70: I have yet to see the latest Torchwood season (not on Netflix) or any of Sarah Jane Adventures.

I like the 10th and 11th Doctors. Tennant was brilliant but really started to be let down by some decidedly shoddy storylines courtesy of a clearly tired Russell T Davies (I generally love Russell's writing, but it was getting really patchy towards the end of Tennant's tenure with some really contrived plots). 11th Doctor isn't quite as strong as Tennant in performance, but he's backed up by the masterful writing of Steven Moffat - hell, one of Tennant's best episodes was written by Moffat.

Whatever you do, don't blink.

Sidenote: Moffat also wrote the modern-day Sherlock series, which is also incredible. If it's aired over there in The USA Statesland of America, you really should consider watching it

@Vintage: It has aired here as a matter of fact, on PBS. ...and the first season's episodes are also available on Netflix. Sherlock is a good show!

I keep trying to convince my sister to watch Doctor Who, but she keeps resisting. She loves Sherlock, so I figure she'd at least like the past two Moffat-helmed seasons (and I think she'd really like David Tennant's Doctor too).

That comment made me think of the Doctor's random encounters with River Song.

I've been watching some of the older Doctor Who series, and I've seen almost every episode from the reboot up to A Christmas Carol. My favourite Doctor is...well, I guess they all have their good points. As for companions, my favourites from the old-school series are Sarah Jane Smith, Romana, Adric, Nyssa and Tegan (not too sure about Peri Brown yet, since I've only seen one serial with her in it...heheheheh, her American accent is so fake! xD) My favourites from the reboot are Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, Amy Pond, Rory Williams, Wilfred Mott, Astrid Peth and River Song. The crown for my favourite companion so far goes to Donna Noble (Catherine Tate FTW!! xD), and my pet hate companion-wise is Adam Mitchell (BOO! ). My favourite enemy is the Master (I think...haven't given it too much thought). Phew, I need to catch my breath!

Oh yeah, if you're an Aussie and you have pay-TV, Colin Baker's episodes start on the 9th July on SciFi. I heard he was the least popular Doctor...and that has me more than a little curious.

I still can't figure out whether I actually like Amy Pond as a companion, because every time she's on screen, I'm almost blinded by how beautiful Karen Gillan is.
