So since NSMB2 is due out in a couple of months I realized that I have never played NSMB. Now I have played NSMBW so I was wondering if its worth going back NSMB or is it too outdated now compared to NSMBW?

Honestly, NSMBWii completely destroys NSMB in every way imaginable....I really wish i skipped out on the first NSMB, because then the Wii sequal would of felt A LOT more fresh. But ya, I'd say skip it and just move onto NSMB2....Wouldn't want to 'NSMB' yourself out TasukiBazooki :p

It all starts to look and feel like one big game considering the visual asthetics are identicle. lol and besides, the Wii U sequal is coming out during the Holidays. eek! That's a lot of NSMB to soak in. I really need to get on SM3D Land already, with NSMB2 being released in 2 months....

Man i swear, the older i get the less interested i get in 'modern' gaming....Maybe it's just my situation(ya this has got to be it.lol), or because I've got too much titles in my collection to play. But i swear once I turned 26(which was close to 2 years ago) modern gaming for me has taken a bit of a hit. I get much more pleasure out of playing NES & SNES games that i missed out on. They're also fantastic because if you're good enough they can be beaten in one session, or a couple of gaming sessions. Really though it's all about keeping that balance. Too many people waste so much of their time gaming that they're missing out on other things in life. But eh, who am i to say at the end of the day it's all about being happy, finding something you're passionate about - persueing it, and loving yourself.....Plus Turtle Pies and Ecto cooler. sniffle* hahaha

Going off topic once again. :p, but ya dude I'd say skip NSMB.....It's a good game and everything, but it's not exactly worth visiting if you've already plowed through the superior Wii sequal, unless little Bowser Jr. Tickles you're Fabio fancy. lol Koopa Kids > Bowser Jr, which i think 99% of us can all agree on!

@Waveboy: Yeah I know what you mean about modern gaming. I get all hyped up about this game coming out and that gaming coming out to the point that I buy them and they just sit in a pile after maybe playing them for a day or two. Where as older games like VC games or my SNES, Genesis etc games I can play over and over. I even find that if I can complete a newer game one play though is enough for me not like say Ducktales on the NES where even though its easy and can be beaten in a half hour I can play over and over and over again. Heck I even have Skyward Sword still in my Wii from playing it like six months ago and for only two days. I dont know I just cant get into the newer gen games. Of course I dont know why but the 3DS is different I mean I bought RE:Revelations and I couldnt put it down same with MK7 and I still enjoy a return trip to SM3DL (of course a return trip to Subcon would be alot better :D), and some of the DSiware games like Soul of Darkness are great. But yeah dude totally know how you feel.

Oh and thanks for the answer I think that if I want to play it just to see it before NSMB2 comes out I will just rent it from GameFly.

Man, I've got over 10 games still sealed in my collection, some of which i bought years ago like A Boy & his Blob. I'm still redecorating my place and i don't want to experience these games since it's not in tip top shape or how i want it to look yet. :p I don't want to look back and remember the time i played Galaxy 2 when my walls were half painted, furniture missing, the works. lol I'm so OCD when it comes to stuff like this haha. As much as I want to dive into Skyward sword it's definitly not the type of game i want to go through first when i have over 10 other titles(much shorter titles) sitting on the side, not to mention i still haven't exactly gone through ALTTP(I know it should be a crime) or OOT3D....

I need to really play those before i jump in! But ya, I tend to go for the short yet sweet experiences first and leave the long ones for last. :p One thing i've learned is to never buy too many games, you get completely overwhelmed and at times you may feel like you're rushing through a game just to get to the next. I personally wouldn't leave anymore than 2 unplayed titles laying around at a time....But my excitedment always overides this and i buy more and more.

Super Mario Galaxy 2, Zelda: Skyward Sword, Kirby's RTDL, Donkey Kong Country returns, A Boy & his Blob, NiGhts: Journey of Dreams, Pikmin 2, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Kid Icarus: Uprising and Steel Diver are the modern titles in my collection that i still haven't given a go yet. eek! Like you, i get so incredibly hyped up and make these purchases, where i typically then usually let them sit to the side while i download simpler & shorter experiences like GameBoy titles on my 3DS. :p

And yup, the 3DS is different. Portables are in a way just easier to kind of get into insantly in comparison to modern console games. plus i bet that 3D effect as it is for me is extremely exciting as it adds a complete layer of magic to all of these games. The day i got RE: Revelations, is the same day i played it suprisingly. I'm an RE, Mega man and Mario nut....But even in this day age Mario doesn't seem to excite me quite as much, at least the NMSB series. The 2 Galaxy games seem to have gotten all of the originality and imagination, while NSMB keeps doing the same funkin' thing.

If you enjoy Fire Emblem or Advance Wars you'll enjoy this. It's like those games just simpler and with Pokemon. I love Pokemon and enjoy Fire Emblem, but won't get it because I'd rather have B or W 2.

Pointless question, can you name Pokemon in this game? xD
Hoping to have this tonight. :p

@Eureka I don't know where you are but it isn't out in EUROPE if you're there. It is in Australia though.

It's a good game, it just isn't fantastic, it gets a bit repetitive and the music is meh. I have to admit the visuals are all top notch though.

And no, you can't name Pokemon.

P.S. Happy birthday :P

Yeah got it this afternoon, its fun. Kinda confusing here and there but I'm getting used to it. xD
And that sucks, dunno why they didn't allow naming. lol
EDIT: Whut, they couldn't make the evolving scene a bit more interesting? xD

okay so i took a look today at the E3 demo of "castlevania lords of shadow - mirrors of fate" for the 3DS and i wanted more. i wanst interested in that game but it actually looks really cool!

---> i never played a castlevania game so what might be the best DS part of the series to start ?

i really liked metroid fusion (ambassador-game for my 3DS).
i dont want something complicated like 10.000 different weapons and magicspells. and it shouldnt be too hard. i often end up frustrated on hard games :(

I remember Portrait of Ruin being moderately easier than Dawn of Sorrow (which, btw, is a direct sequel to Aria of Sorrow, although I personally think it's not a big deal if you haven't played the previous game), but it's been 5 1/2 years since I last played the former. Order of Ecclesia was definitely the toughest of the three, in my book.

I've been playing some Order of Ecclesia, and so far I'm not thrilled with it. It is hard, but I think that's mostly due to Shanoa's lame abilities. They just feel so underpowered. Three hours in and I finally got a decent glyph. Maybe this game will pick up once I get to the castle.

So would I be best starting with Portrait of Ruin or Order off Ecclesia? I'm not worried about difficulty and from what I understand story shouldn't matter but what's your guys opinion?

What do you consider cheap?

Anyway, Dragon Quest IX is the most recent so I'm not sure if it is cheap. I would check out IV or V. Both are good but I personally really got into V. The story is the best of the DQ series for me and it spans 3 generations so you know it will be a long but very involved game.

Another rpg I highly recommend is Golden Sun Dark Dawn. That game was amazing and I didn't even play the first 2. You don't need to play the previous installments to understand what's going on. Their story is revelealed to you in books you find on your journey and they are written in such a comical way. This game has a kind of monster collecting element also. These monsters change the characteristics of your characters' powers so its fun trying out certain combos. The story is pretty epic and while it gives a satisfying ending, it also hints at another installment to come.

Lokks like Portrait of Ruin might be your cup of tea since the game gets a bit easier as you level up.
