Since it was announced for release in Europe, it could be coming up to North America($2.99). Is this game absolutely similar to "Kirby's Pinball Land" or is it different? Anyone looking up for this game? Thanks!
I still have my GB cartridge, and honestly, I never play it anymore because pinball games nowadays are so much better, but it was quite good at the time, and maybe worth it if it's only $3.
It's similar to Kirby's Pinball Land, but not the same game and different enough to be very enjoyable in its own right. Unlike Kirby's Pinball Land, it has a single multi-tiered table, no nudge, and no bosses. It's about trying to hit targets to earn bonuses, find the hidden bonus rounds (which are extremely fun), and trying to get higher in the table. Newer pinball games are more realistic, but I like these types of games (also including stuff like Compile/Naxat's Crush series) because they offer something different form realistic pinball. I still play Revenge of the Gator and it's still one of my favorite pinball games, despite liking the Pro Pinball series and Pinball Arcade quite a bit.
I HOPE it comes to NA on Thursday! It's among one of my favourite GB games EVER. I love the music and the gator theme. Never cared for Kirby's Pinball as it has too many fantasy elements. 'Gator is more like real pinball, and the gators are so cute!!
Revenge of the Gator is a good pinball game, and probably wouldn't be hard to justify at $3. It is similar to Kirby's Pinball Land, but simpler. On the other hand, it also feels (to me) less gimmicky... although still far from a real table. I'd buy it.
The problem with old pinball games is that unless they had their own special features that stand the test of time, they're pretty much made obsolete by newer ones. Pokémon Pinball for the GBA I still have loads of fun with because of the Pokémon catching and evolving, but from the looks of it Revenge of the Gator and Kirby's Pinball aren't anything special. It's great that they're there if you played them at the time though - gotta love that nostalgia. :3

Not every newish pinball game is good. Have you played Dream Pinball 3D? Revenge of the 'Gator may be old, but it still has lots of charm even though it doesn't even have a nudge feature, and I love the artwork and the 'gators. Plus, it tries to be more like real pinball, which Kirby isn't, so that's another plus for me. I'd rather play 'Gator over Dream Pin 3D.
Also, the old PC pinball games are still pretty good today, such as Pinball Fantasies, although yes, they are getting a bit dated compared to the likes of Zen Pinball (even though it's all fantasy pins, it has high production values) and The Pinball Arcade.
Yay thank you. I too prefer 'Gator over Kirby, 'cause it's more 'real' than Kirby. I've never played Kirby, but I've seen videos of gameplay and as far as a pinball game goes, there's hardly any actual pinball elements in it besides flippers and the ball. It's way too fantasy-ish for me. Pokémon Pinball actually has ramps and targets and things, even though it's fantasy as well.
The fantasy elements of Kirby's Pinball Land is what makes it a good videogame pinball game. I actually find realistic pinball to be boring as a videogame, but fun in real life. Its a different experience.
Kirby's Pinball Land knows its a videogame not an actual pinball game and so does its best to be a fun videogame experience. A fun fantasy game is much better than a boring realistic game.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
The TG16 pinball games are pretty good - e.g Devils Crush. (And you could play them on the Turbo Express which was the best handheld for ages certainly until the Nomad / GBA).

Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.
Yeah well, handhelds weren't the best platforms for pinball so I agree with you there, but authentic pinball on the PC were really good. Pin*Bot on the NES, is a recreation of a real table, but it was ruined by the fantasy elements they added. I guess we can agree to disagree then. I did enjoy fantasy pinball back in the day (Sierra's 3D Ultra games on PC helped with that), but once I started playing authentic pinball games, I realized they're just much better. I still play them though (like Zen Pinball), but not as much now. They're fun, but don't feel like pinball to me.
The Pro Pinball series on PC and The Pinball Arcade are the best pinball games ever made. I don't find them dull at all. It helps that I never played real pins when I was growing up, so now I have the chance to play all these great pins on a video game screen.
I have Alien Crush on my Vita/PSP. I love the Alien inspired theme, but it's not quite as fun as I remember it back when I played it on a TG-16.
P.S. Pinball Dreams and Pinball Fantasies are Amiga games which was then ported to other platforms, including the Game Boy. The handheld versions look really bad based on those screenshots you linked. They don't even have any background art. The original game had them.

But it was a good thing on the original green Game Boy to have minimal art as it made the important graphics easier to see.
