I was initially skeptical about this.
When I first got it, I adored the first game, but when it came to the grinding it got dreadfully boring for me, and I didn't play it for months.
However, I went back to it after hearing that this was out soon (after my snarky comment about it on here) and it's completely roped me back in!
Admittedly I still think the gameplay needs to be tuned up but the game is so cute and charming, I now really want Beyond the Waves! (As long as there's some improvement on the gameplay).

The Animal Crossing style new features are also appealing!

I've checked on our eShop and we've got an Icon of The Denpamen 2, if you just search "the denpa men 2" it'll come up with the icon and details, Apparently we have to pay $17 NZD, that's nearly as expensive as when we got Dillon's Rolling Western, which is $18NZD. You guys in NA probably won't be charged as much as we will though, so lucky you guys....

@Bazly it's called the Australia (and NZ) tax. it's not a real tax, just a term coined by most gamers. There aren't many gamers in our region, so videogames in general cost about 20% more after accounting for exchange rates. For example, USD is just a tiny bit above AUD, but most retail games in Australia cost 70-100 dollars while in America it's around 50-70.

But back on topic, this game looks interesting! I hope the battle system is a bit more complex than the first game though.

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

If I'm not mistaken, the cost of living is higher in Australia as well.

Of course, meaning the upkeep for NOAu's offices (electricity, water, worker salary, etc.) would be more costly as well.

@Magikarp - While I do agree when it comes to the example I cited (there is about a two dollar increase in the price of Denpa Men 2 it seems, when you calculate the value) the rest of what y'all or saying doesn't really add up. There definitely does seem to be a SMALL difference, but not by much.

70 dollars in NZD is abouit $59 US, so that actually does add up. Then factor in that minimum wage in Newzealand is about $13, whereas in the US the highest minimum wage of any state is 9.19 (in Washington). This stuff does actually make some sense, the differences aren't as big as people like to think.

I only bring it up, because people will always compare prices and say things like "That's only $1 in America? That's Like $3 here!" but the dollars they are comparing are not equal in value.

Again, some small differences are evident, but I can't help but feel there's some exaggerating going on here.

EDIT: Although, it has occurred to me that this is not an appropriate place to be having this discussion lol. The point is OMG DENPA MEN 2. I want it so bad. Why is it still not out?

I think a previous user (who has been banned, apparently) mentioned the whole "higher minimum wage and mean income = higher prices for games in Australia/New Zealand" a fair number of times. And it makes sense; the difference between American and Aussie/Kiwi demographics (in terms of poverty and welfare and other financial inputs) allows for video games to be bought/sold for higher prices. Unfortunately, there's not much that can be done to change that fact of life, so gamers down under simply put up with higher prices for games.

Exactly.

Why are we discussing all this? Can we just get back to the topic, I didn't mean for my remark to spin-off into a debate about income and foriegn cash exchange rates etc. Come on, I'd like to talk about The Denpamen 2....

Well I"m glad that you can transfer your Denpamen from the previous game, into the sequel, also network and streetpass features are a boon, I can't wait to streetpass others and explore that dungeon that uses the streetpass functionality. Also new denpamen types, looks like even more strategic thinking for us denpamen fans. Man, this all reminds me when we got the original sequel to Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow AKA Gold & Silver, This sequel apparently is much improved over the last game and I seriously can't wait to do stuff like growing crops, traversing and exploring an entire Denpamen world map, go fishing, take photos of your team and battle other teams of denpamen from others overseas.
I hope they have enough material to work with if they make a third Denpamen game, I was also hoping that Nintendo or Genius Sonority would actually decide to do a physical retail version of both games and bundle them together and even include bonus content for both games, that would be sweet! I'm pretty sure that, with the proper marketing and an already established 3DS fanbase, they could sell this series like hotcakes.
What do you guys think? I could seriously see this as being a new Nintendo IP.
But before I finish, I gotta ask a question, how much of Genius Sonority is owned by Nintendo? and is the Denpamen IP considered to be a Nintendo IP if Nintendo actually owns Genius Sonority? Despite being published by the dev and not Nintendo, I'd still like to think it's a new Nintendo IP, just like Pushmo, Hana Samurai and Dillon's Rolling Western are. Can anyone answer that for me?

I hope that they remove the PAL/NA split between QR codes this time, or at least implement a nicer way than taking a photo of the screen :/

My apologies for starting up the whole price debate again. Oceanic gamers do have quite a bit to complain about, but it's not worth getting the site riled up haha

and @RetroGBHippie, Genius Sonority is a second party developer with a lot of funding from Nintendo. I guess this means Denpa Men is technically Genius Sonority's IP (like how Banjo Kazooie is Rare's IP) although that would only be contestable in the event that Genius Sonority leaves Nintendo for some freelancing.

I agree with @Magikarp on the status of who Denpa Men belongs to.

Genius Sonority both developed & published the first title by themselves, meaning Nintendo probably doesn't have anything to do with the series (although being from a 2nd party dev, it'll only appear on Nintendo systems for the time being).

With all that said, I've decided to put my focus on downloads (instead of saving up for a retail game), so I probably will get it. It'll still be awhile though, as both Oracle games take precedent, and they release the same day.

The official Denpa Men Facebook page uploaded this interview with Genius Sonority's (i.e. the dev's) CEO. Unfortunately, "to avoid language-related problems", QR codes are still region-locked.

Yeah it's appeared on our eshop page too, for $17.00 NZD, but I'm not really worried about the price as such because I know it's gonna be a great 3DS eshop title.
It could be worse you know, we had to pay $25 for Harmoknight and you can see why I didn't get it (along with the review scores and such).

This month is the month I start investing more time into my 3DS, lately I've been neglecting it because I haven't really been able to pull myself into doing really anything gaming wise. I did download Hana Samurai a few weeks back to quell my need to download something before Denpamen 2, but apart from that I haven't been gaming as much. I really don't know why I've been like that lately but I guess it's just me ignoring everything until Denpamen 2 comes out and I find that annoying because there's so many retail releases out recently and I haven't felt the urge to play em. The 30th is still a ways off, but as soon as I get it I can get rid of this weird complex I'm having.

Finally got a price on this in the NA shop 11.99$

TBH for the amount of content i think its worth full retail price. Not too many eshop games can say that. Cant say im as excited for this as i should be though since there has been so many games to play as of late with many more to come over the course of the rest of the year. Not to mention its competing with the Zelda games for time and popularity!
