Pokemon has got to come to 3DS Virtual Console!! The first one I ever played was Diamond then Platinum, but I'd really like to play the better versions of the older games. Like instead of Pokemon Gold, Pokemon Crystal. I'm not to sure about it though I just don't feel like Nintendo would release the older ones. I'd really like to have all the Pokemon games on my 3DS when i get one I feel like that'd be a cool collection to have.
While we'd all like for them to come, without multiplayer implementations, a lot of people would be turned off from buying them. Additionally, with the low price point of VCH games, Nintendo may very well lose a lot more in profits, as there are certainly a few people who would rather buy R/B/Y than the much more pricier Black/White. It very well just might not be meant to be.
I kind of doubt it will happen. Right now, there's no multiplayer for 3DS VC games, so you couldn't trade or battle with other people. They're always doing remakes of the older games, too. It's only a matter of time before they announce Ruby and Sapphire as retail 3DS games.
They could implement multiplayer if they wanted, that's hardly a reason to not put Pokemon titles on the 3DS VC. It's just the benefits of doing so are outweighed by the cost, hassle, etc for existing games. (Will not having a 2 player mode for baseball greatly impact sales for example?)
They would need to provide some sort of app or utility so you can trade between the titles on your own system though.... And wouldn't be compatible with the later games, just the first two gens.
For multiplayer, they would probably have to tweak the game's code to use 3DS's wireless communication instead of a link cable. Perhaps handheld VC games aren't even able to access that functionality. Either way, I think it should have been available from the start.
I think al six GB and GBC versions will be released over time. I'm not interested in them as I prefer the remakes. They render the older games mostly obsolete.
I don't think Multiplayer would affect anything. When I started playing Pokemon, I didn't connect with anyone, but I still had a ton of fun!, also, my friend has Pokemon Yellow version still. I'm pretty sure he can't connect with anyone yet he plays it often enough to still call it an enjoyable game.
Trust me. No Multiplayer will be no big deal. As a matter of fact, it will make it even more social! People will start posting threads about what Pokemon they have and what area they're in... It'd be great!
And now to NINTENDO: If you make this an official 3DS VC game, you have my $5-$9 guaranteed. Heck, even if it is more than that!!
If they release them, I would probably buy every single one. So many good memories. Make it happen Nintendo! It could be like with Kid Icarus too, give us a download code with the next Pokemon games they release.
Before Tetris was released on VC, everyone kept saying it wouldn't come for various reasons, such as the lack of multiplayer and "the Tetris company wanting to support only the games that have certain features (lol)." But even though people made convincing arguments against its release, they still released Tetris, and without the multiplayer support.
Truth is, no matter how well you argue why some games won't be released, you can't be certain of them being left out, as the decision is up to Nintendo and the developers. So don't go using the logic "the games have 0% chance of coming because of no multiplayer" because we just don't know if Nintendo considers multiplayer support important for the VC console games.
And I don't think the games being remade in the future decreases the chance of Pokémon's VC release. People still bought OOT 3D and would buy MM 3D even though the originals are available. Also, most of the 3D Classics were available as the original versions on VC, and yet they sold well. And since today's gamers are all about graphics, many would still buy the remakes even if they got the originals first.

While this is true, it's still not worth releasing them without multiplayer functionality. Outside of taking advantage of a certain glitch, it would be impossible to complete the Pokédex, which is an indispensible part of any core Pokémon game (and even a few of the spinoffs).
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

While this is true, we're facing the opposite situation here where the remakes are available before the digital rereleases of the originals. Are people still going to buy the original games on the Virtual Console when they already have or can still easily buy the enhanced remakes? Yellow Version would be an exception though, as it's so remarkably different from not just Red and Blue but also FireRed and LeafGreen that I can see it having a large market despite the remakes.

Even without link-up, the original Pokemon games were still great.
You may not be able to complete the Pokedex, battle or trade but that doesn't make it a worse game. If the lack of link-up bothers you then don't download the game in the first place. Let the game be played by those happy enough just to defeat the Elite Four.

People still bought Kirby Super Star, FFIV & VI, Chrono Trigger, and SM64 on the VC despite superior versions being available on GBA and the DS earlier. And I don't see how the Pokémon remakes, sans HG/SS, are easily available anymore, unless you buy them on eBay, which the majority of gamers doesn't probably do. And there still exists a demographic that has nostalgia for the originals, who would prefer having the originals on their 3DS. And lastly, the cost of releasing these games digitally is minimal, and since this is Pokémon we're talking about, they'll make enough profit to warrant their release.
I also agree with Bass on the link-up thing, plus I don't think the majority of gamers bothers finishing the Pokédex. Of course, having Alakazam, Golem, Gengar, and Machamp (and other link-trade Pokémon I forgot, along with the version exclusives) unavailable sucks, but most of the content is still accessible in single player (it would be smart for Nintendo to add multiplayer, though). Even the infamous black Jynx isn't such a big deal that the games wouldn't be released.
Still, all these reasons for and against the games' VC release are pretty insignificant in the long run: Nintendo and GameFreak don't look at these boards and consider our opinions. More likely, they'll just think "Man, having the original Pokémon games on the 3DS VC would be so sweet, think of the profits! Let's do it!" And presto, one day they'll just announce them out of the BLUE (pun intended), just like what happened with Tetris: nobody expected it and had pretty much given up all hope of seeing it, and bang: it gets released and weesa happy!
I don't care about multiplayer... If they don't make it so I can play Pokemon Blue in shades of blue and Red in shades of red, then it's a no buy for me.
I know it's an issue to alot of people, but I don't care if it doesn't have multiplayer. I'd download any of them in a heart beat. But I'd prefer the GBA versions, which would never happen.
This is the first time I ever hear of Pokemon blue, etc using IR. Not even the GBC games that did support IR used them for multiplayer as far as I remember.
Yeah, I don't really care, I'll just get the next games because all this stuff will be missing. If they come out, good, maybe I and a bunch of others will get them. If not, oh well.
