He also likes the demo for lego chima - but the newer lego games have gotten some lukewarm reviews. so...
Don't sweat the reviews so hard. He's two years old, and unless the game is an unplayable mess, he's going to be far more excited by a 5/10 game with his favourite toy and TV show characters, than a 10/10 game with characters he's less interested in. A lot of my games I sunk hours into at that age weren't always exactly diamonds but they had my favourite characters in them, so to my mind they rocked lol.
Dark Souls. Gotta throw 'em into the pool if you want them to swim.
lmao. Its funny because that is how I learned how to swim. D:
that's how I taught my sister to swim(true story)

@Barbiegurl777 to tell the truth my sister knew HOW to swim already, she just didn't have the courage to enter without a float....

Um... 3? Go outside. Seriously, a kid's going to be much more interested in the real world at that age. Get him some real toys, like action figures and toy cars (not hotwheels... wait a year, too small). Me and my wife plan on having kids in the next few years as we get our own lives together, but luckily we have tons of friends who are having kids left and right to give us examples of how to raise them right (and sometimes, what not to do). Ages 3 and younger, really I'd have them avoid video games like the plague unless it's an edugame. My closest friend has his daughter absorbed into some kind of Mickey Mouse plug 'n play, and that's fine because it keeps her distracted for a couple of minutes, but doesn't get her so absorbed that she'd be stunted elsewhere mentally. Plus, it's teaching her how to speak and do simple math. Wait till he's like 5 and give him Nintendo's latest 2D platformer or a Kirby game. He's not going to be into RPGs until he's at least 7, and not into the stuff you like until he's a teenager, and if you push it too hard they're going to dislike it even if they do like it... because teenager... Whatever you do don't get him a 3DS. Nintendo has 2DS for a reason....
take the kid to play something outside! kids that get into games too soon tend to avoid physical activities, what's bad.

Worry about tastes later, right now your true battle is making sure he knows games are meant to be played on consoles not tablets or phones.
As for games keeping a 3 year old's interest, the fast pace of platformers and fighters usually held my interest as a kid (and still do ofc). RPG's didn't come in the picture at all until my teens when I had more patience for text heavy and strategic gameplay. So... really, anyone trying to get their kid into those type of games should wait it out. Wait 4 or 5 years and get him a 2DS and some Pokemon games. Until then... well, the new Marvel Lego City has been getting great reviews.

He's 3. HE doesn't even know what he likes yet. There are some 30 year olds that don't know what they like.
When he's older, if he still doesn't share your taste in games, deal with it. He's another person just like the rest of us. Only intervene if he becomes infatuated with iOS or Android games (kidding...).
Just let him take his gaming course. The only real thing you should do is make sure he doesn't play games that the ESRB says he shouldn't (you know, or raise him properly to know that games are merely that) and refuse to buy whatever his little heart desires, at the moment, without having him earn it first.
Have fun raising your child.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite
Besides the youngest level of edutainment games, I'm personally wait a couple more years before introducing "heavier" stuff. If later he shows interest in more challenge, then try Zelda, RPGs, and the like. That's just me though.
Oh, and be sure to teach him that Nintendo is the hero, Sony the worthy rival, and Microsoft the devil.
