Microfiber cloth yo! For dust or... fingerprints. If you have stuff on there that don't come off just put a BIT of water on the cloth (don't drain it) then dry it with the dry side of the cloth. Nothing to it. Don't use any other liquids, or paper towels and stuff like that.

Microfiber cloth have been the most effective for me by far for the normal 3DS. Just swipe it all over and it'll look as good as new.

The microfiber cloth i also use for my glasses. If needed, i'll add a tiny amount of moisture by breathing on the screen

I usually fully submerge my 3DS is a pot of hot wax. Upon removing the console from said pot, it is shiny and covered in a protective coat.

Serious question: is your "x" button missing?

I never clean my 3DS. I don't see why I need to.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

I got a microfibre cloth, a Hori one imported from Play-asia long ago for my original DS.
But I also get these wet-wipes from KFC every so often and keep them just for cleaning the 3DS. They're surprisingly good in conjunction with the microfibre cloth.

I use wipes made for electronics. After my 6-yr old grandson sneezed whilst playing SM3DLand, microfiber cloth just wasn't up to the job. Plus they do a great job on fingerprints on those glossy surfaces.

Yeah, it's great. I've used it since the DS Lite came out. I hate having greasy fingerprints all over my stuff. Looks terrible.

I bought a 3DS XL today actually. It's great, the finish is really nice, no fingerprints whatsoever. So much easier and it feel a lot better as well.

@KaiserGX Fair enough. I've noticed you doing that in other threads as well, so I was just curious. Carry on.

Really? I find a pot of honey to work much better. But hey, what do I know. I'm just a bear.
But yes, microfiber all the way across the sky.

Small towel + water for fingerprints/marks on the back, and on the top screen VERY gently, making sure to avoid speakers.

And I typically get it fixed every 11 months (DO IT BEFORE IF POSSIBLE. WARRANTY LIMITS) due to the top-screen scratch problem.

Last year I got a replacement 3DS stylus pack from Gamestop. It came with 4 extra 3DS stylus', screen protectors, and this cool microfiber cloth (with DS logos all over it) to help clean the handheld. It does a great job, btw!

Whenever I close my 3DS, I fold this microfiber cloth in half and place it between the two screens to avoid dirt getting on the top screen.

Also, I had to send my 3DS off for repair a while back. Nintendo, when sending it back, had some notes for me to look over. They recommended using toothbrush bristles to get the dirt out from around the border of the touch screen.

Tasuki

Drop it in an tub of acid count to 30 and remove it. That will make sure to get it clean.
