Topic: Fire Emblem Question: Why won't Grima go away?

So I completed the fire emblem awakening campaign about two weeks ago. When I played again, grima was still on the map waiting to be fought. I assumed I hadn't saved, and waited until now to fight him again. I just completed it again, and after the credits and the part where it tells you what the characters did next, it said "saving" and went back to the map screen. Not only was grima still there, but all the characters that had levelled up in the battle against grima had reverted to the levels they were at before the battle!
I know some older games wouldn't save at the end of the game allowing you to replay the last level, but this makes no sense in fire emblem, surely it should either allow you to replay any mission or none? I don't understand why anybody would want to be able to keep replaying the level without playing any others and without being able to keep any exp they've gained.

The exp thing has made me wonder if its a bug instead of just bad design, as it literally said "saving..." Yet my save file wasn't updated in any way - has this happened to anyone else or does he normally go away when defeated?

Fire emblem awakening has been one of my top 5 games of all time so far and close to flawless, but I have ocd when it comes to clearing the map of objectives - if this is a design choice not a glitch it will be the first flaw I've found and ruin how perfect this game was for me.

That's supposed to happen. That way you can replay Grima as many times as you want to. No bugs, not a glitch, not your copy, it's meant to be.

I didn't realize it was much of a problem for anyone. Intelligent Systems was just trying to be nice and not make you have to replay the whole game to get to the final boss fight.

I hate it when games do that... LoZ:OoT, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, Paper Mario Sticker Star... It really irks me...

Grima himself is a chapter, so taking him off the map really doesn't make too much sense

Replay without getting any exp? What's the point?

@scroogemclz none of the other chapters remain there so that doesn't really make sense either.

Fair enough it didn't seem right to me, at least I know it's supposed to happen now.

Some people play the game for fun's sake. Why do people replay games? Why do they continually play online? Why do they beat old games over and over again? Simple. Because they want to, because they enjoy the game.

there's the option of dlc and the optional chapters to be considered, that's why they did it. what's being saved is probably your levels and information regarding things you bought or did before tackling grima's chapter again, not that of the enemies you just defeated. it's not the first game to leave you at your last spot just before the boss, won't be the last. sorry the game's been ruined for you, but it's not a glitch, it keeps the game open for the player to continue with things released later on. :3
