Well, it's "special", but that can be a fancy substitute for limited. The fact it comes with a few real world extras kinda further sells the point. But that doesn't mean they should be rarer then water in a desert.
I'm hoping that maybe later this year (like, fall / Holidays), they'll re-release the compilation cartridge again, but without the Special Edition real world bonuses.
Yeah, same here. I only care about that ultimate cartridge, haha.

I had no issues pre-ordering the special edition when EB Games had it up back in December, though admittedly it might be because I pre-ordered in-store as my friend told me she had issues trying to pre order through their site when they still had pre orders open. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like EB Games has plans on restocking the special edition, but if they do they'd announce it on their Twitter like last time.
It's honestly really annoying to have to be on the lookout 24/7 for the special edition not to slip by, especially since we don't even have a release date so preorders could literally open up whenever.
I'm so happy! I managed to preorder the special edition! Though the currecy exchange is screwing me over - the SE cost the equivalent to USD 102 here.... Well, at least I have a month to save up the money. Yay for Internships!
It went up in the store I shop here in Chile, it was up for around 5 hours before it ran out of stock ( it was expensive). Only thing I can recommend is to check your local store often, at least down here Nintendo just confirmed the stock for this one and for the TP bundle today.
