It has been mentioned countless of times in different forums, but I am really wondering why we're not seeing more re-releases, ports or "virtual console" releases of SNES/GBA or even N64 and select Gamecube titles on 3DS eShop.
Don't come with the "no N64, SNES releases on 3DS eShop since it's a handheld and those are consoles"-argument since it's rubbish, we also have NES on the 3DS eShop and I say as long as the 3DS can run it, release it.
Fact is the major releases on 3DS are coming in slow and titles of the past would be an awesome opportunity to fill the gap. Maybe even enhance existing games with some neat 3DS effect (like what has already happened to the 3D classics) or what would be an awesome feature: imagine old SNES games that had multiplayer being enabled for multiplayer over streetpass/link on 3DS. Awesome.
Please also don't come with the "don't want old games, want new games" argument because it is also rubbish. If those games are there no one forces you to buy them, it won't affect the release of the major things anyways and there are PLENTY of gorgeous titles that many many gamers want to experience again or never had the chance to experience in the first place. Sure, you could also go for a "system of the old days" which is - thanks to ebay - usually easy and cheap to do, but it gets problematic connecting those old hogs to a modern sound/video setup AND get good results, you most often need adapters which come at an extra cost, and honestly, software that could easily run on the 3DS is a logical fit for your "Play on the go, the couch, the toilet or in your bed"-console.
Im not ranting, im suggesting and I think Nintendo (and their third parties) are sitting on gems that could STILL generate a nice set of income for them - even after all those years.
Thoughts?

Considering the 3DS is about as powerful as a Gamecube/Wii, I HIGHLY doubt it can emulate GameCube games (The DS itself can't even run a GBA emulator at higher then around 4 FPS without sound).
Now N64 games, those would make some great re-releases. I'd love to have titles like Sin and Punishment on the go.
@SarcasticWisdom - Everyone wants new games. You don't have to state that.

Link goes here now.
Screw you.
Firstly im Talking mit about emulating a system but porting to 3ds, like ocarina of time is a port and not an emulated n64 game. The back-catalogue of Nintendo is amazing and would be an awesome chance to fill the gap between the releases of those NEW games, not replace them!

In terms of things that can improved on for 3DS, this is negligible, both for me and for Nintendo. Because when I'm arguing about how ridiculous region-locking is and how a disturbing number of the most interesting titles for the 3DS are still not announced for release outside of Japan, my first thought is how I want to buy Mario Kart 64 to get wireless multiplayer that Nintendo would never waste the money on for a VC release.
Let's focus on the major issues first is what I'm saying.
Don't come with the "no N64, SNES releases on 3DS eShop since it's a handheld and those are consoles"-argument since it's rubbish, we also have NES on the 3DS eShop and I say as long as the 3DS can run it, release it.
People have debated this before? That is a little extreme.

GameCube had such a great library of games, they just came out too slow and ps2 Xbox had more mature games, that's all why it was doomed, the GameCube was awesome otherwise! Sounds familiar? Sure we all want new games but I'd love to have the chane playi g old classics and games I never got the first time around!
And like that other guy said, region locking and keeping the good stuff in Japan for too long is just another fact addin to the problem that the big releases on 3ds are really slow and oftentimes it's niche games!
I love my 3ds like I loved my GameCube, lets hope they don't share the same fate, game wise...

I rather have 3d remakes of old games, than no games.
The benefit of not having much good games on the 3DS is, that if i find a decent game, i am enjoying it much more. A game like Tales of the Abyss would normally not be very special for me, but with the knowledge that there's not much out there for the system in the genre, i am truly adoring the game!
