Hi everyone. Hope someone can give me some insight in to this...

This morning when i logged in to my Nintendo account (Something I hadn't done since early September this year) I find that in the section 'My Registered Games And Systems' there is content that I never downloaded/bought...

Pokedex 3D (27.09.12)
Donkey Kong (27.09.12)
Colors! 3D (27.09.12)
Sparkle Snapshots (19.09.12)

New Super Mario Bros 2 (19.09.12) - This one is saying I need to claim stars for this download.
Sonic Blast (19.09.12)

This is all very strange as the last time I used/owned a Nintendo console was a 3DS XL in July 2012... Which I sent back to Amazon.co.uk as the hinge was major wobbly. Pretty sure I would have reset the unit if that was possible.

What is this, a weird mistake on Nintendo's part, or someone using my account? I have messaged Nintendo this morning about this, so still waiting to hear anything back.

Any insight anyone may have on this greatly appreciated.

Very strange! The first thing that comes to my mind is someone else using your account - if your Club Nintendo account remains linked to the 3DS XL you sent back, and Amazon has gone on to refurb it and sell it on again without wiping it, that would make sense. Hopefully Nintendo will be able to see if someone else has been using the account and fix it up for you.

I had this very same thing happen on a DSI I got once. Got that one new!! I all of a sudden had content to DL tht I did not (never would have) bought, no points missing either. Also, a few DSi's later I bought one used where the guy transferred SOME games off and left me the others which became part of my console DL's.

All the more reason for N to make the Eshop / DSiware accounts based, rather than unit based.

Thanks for your thoughts guys... Yes first thing that springs to mind is someone else using my account... But that seems pointless, and it looks like my points are still there.

Would be awesome though when I get another 3DS XL in a week or so and the Super Mario Bros 2 game is there for me to keep

Hopefully Nintendo will get back to me on this.

Well they did have the Brain Age DSiware for free but non transferable.

... Hmm I don't appear to have any points missing. And everything else looks normal. Very odd.

If you registered your 3DS before giving it back, chances are that noone reseted it and other person (who doesn't knows or cares aboout Club Nintendo) bought it.

You're receiving all the download coins for their purchases.

This hasn't happened to me, but something somewhat similar has happened to my sister. She had an iTunes gift card that she put onto her account and the next time she logged onto it(Months later) Her name was there but her address and phone number was differant(Or something like that). Basically, if you have any gift cards for any system(iPhone, 3DS, Wii, PS, whatever) don't put it in until you want to use it. I think she lost about $40 that way. This doesn't really help you now, but for anyone here make sure you don't put in your gift card until then if someone somehow hacks your account or even if it's a mistake.

I'm pretty sure I would have reset it before sending it back to Amazon, I am pretty good at doing stuff like that. I can't remember now, but isn't it hard or annoying to reset the console? I remember something about pressing different buttons in a crazy manner to reset it? Or maybe that was to get my save data off Mario Kart before selling it. Can't remember now.
Well I sure hope that Nintendo sort this out.

I don't see how this is anything but a good thing for you anyway...

I guess if nintendo notices it, they could think he's cheating somehow and close his account+ban him.

The more I look at my account and the recent going ons, I have to admit I am kinda tempted to claim the stars for the Mario Bros 2 download. But I have asked Nintendo to look in to this, so too late for that now... Besides it's my account, and I only want my Nintendo history on it, not share it with some random.

Like SyFyTy said above, ''All the more reason for N to make the Eshop / DSiware accounts based, rather than unit based''

Oh well. Nintendo have not got back to me. So I've spent all my Nintendo points on mostly pointless junk, got myself a new super sexy blue/black XL with copy of Ocarina of time (awesome Amazon.co.uk bundle for £158) new user name... biosupdate, and new Nintendo account. Game on!!!
