soundcircus commented on Video: Just Look For The U On The Box, Nintend...:

Another lame looking video from nintendo.
And STILL NO MENTION OF THE PRO CONTROLLER!!!!
They should have had it in the video. What is the point of saying oh yeah this is our new HD console, yet still show annoying looking people using the wii remote and looking like every other nintendo advertisement!?!
People will still be confused after watching this.
They should not have used the Wii branding on this console in the first place, and not used the Wii remote and just kept with a 'normal' controller... The pro controller along with the tablet.

soundcircus commented on Soapbox: Why Grand Theft Auto V Isn't For Me:

I'm 37 so quite the old knacker. I enjoyed the first GTA back in the day on the PS1 and even bought the London expansion disc.
However since then whenever I've played it on the PS2, 360, PSP and even China Town on the DS, I've just never been able to get in to it fully, and so would always have more fun just driving around running over people and being silly.

The BBC did an article on GTA recently, and show an old interview that there so called Tech expert did with the Rockstar guys back in 1996 I believe...

(I've no idea if Nintendolife have already picked this up)

Yes please. Hope it will be released as an actual cartridge game... Do not like downloading stuff from Nintendo, unless of course they come into the year 2013 and we can finally have an account based system.

Also ZOOKEEPER 3DS FOR EUROPE PLEASE!

soundcircus commented on Weirdness: This 1DS Spoof is Remarkably Well Done:

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Nintendo need to leave the 'big home console market' and instead put all their power and might in to what they do best (most of the time) and that's make handhelds.

The Nintendo next Gen handheld will be a non clam shell like the Wii U game pad, but around the same size as the PS Vita.
It will be non 3D, have at least a 720p screen, have a powerful NVidia chip, Gorilla glass type display. It would have HDMI out so one can plug it in to a TV/Monitor if one wishes, though the device would still primarily be a handheld.

It would also have a HD camera for game interaction, and be Skype type enabled for video chat.

They would bring back the Game Boy branding and the device would be called - Game Boy Extreme.

@OorWullie
Huh? I am from the UK... I find this guy not funny. I find him stupid and annoying. And yeah he has put me off even more so from buying a Wii U.
I relied to the cultural comment, as someone from the US said they find it creepy and didn't get it and asked if it's an American-European cultural divide thing. And I replied that yes it is an American-British cultural divide thing.
Having an American wife, and knowing the USA quite well, this kinda 'comedy' is not the norm.
Thanks ;)

@DarkNinja9
Actually I was a 'Nintendo Fanboy' ... For the last twenty years or so.
I did own a PS3 at some point, but soon sold it.
I'm not liking Nintendo's direction as of the past few years... So yeah time to move on. Just venting my disappointment here with this latest silly ad.

But if the Wii U goes down in price which it is meant to do in the next few months or so, and they get their act together... who knows.

Oh Nintendo how very lame you've become.

British comedian Rufus Hound... Never heard of him.

Wow so one can watch you tube, netflicks blah blah blah on the game tablet/giant remote/future doorstop... What an amazing sales gimmick [yawn]

The Wii U is poopoo... Infact Nintendo has turned poopoo. Just look at the latest joke... the 2DS.

With the Wii U's lack of quality first and third party games. A stupid gamepad that most, if not all third party developers don't want to touch. Outdated hardware that developers don't want to touch. Software tied to the console instead of being account based like Apple, Sony, Microsoft etc etc etc etc etc. The list goes on.

I was an N fan, but I've come to realise that if Nintendo released a plank of wood with a big N on it, Nintendo fans would still buy it.
I'm sick of the childish crap... Bring on the PS4!

This is a bad joke right?
What the hell has happened to Nintendo these days? Is the company being controlled by muppets? That is one ugly, stupid, pointless piece of hardware.
What a complete waste of money and the earths resources on Nintendo's behalf!
Slow hand clap Nintendo, well done you've done it again :(

soundcircus commented on Miyamoto Unsure Nintendo Can Make Another "Gre...:

Why am I not surprised.

Just make an F Zero game! You can't say the hardware isn't there this time around. The big joke over wise known as the Gamepad is there for the only thing its good for - Showing a map and race positions.
Just make some tracks, add a couple of extra main characters and get on with it!
The more and more stupid lame excuses I read from Nintendo and about Nintendo with it's Next Gen console, the more that PS4 is looking like the only console I will purchase this time around.

soundcircus commented on Reggie Unmoved By The Threat Of $400 PlayStati...:

You should be worried Reggie my man. Your machine is very over priced for what it is, and the bigger picture is that not all gamers are twelve years old. The dudes down at Nintendo clearly do not have a clue how to function in the modern era, and are still milling about likes it's 1992 or something.

(The following rant doesn't wholly reflect the main story, but I just need to get it off my chest!)...

We (Or at least I did) want a modern gaming console with no silly gimmicks and no stupid party party time controllers... Sure we all love Mario, Zelda and the like. But with so many third parties openly dissing about the stupid Gamepad in the press, things are not looking good. Sure there was a few third party interests in the device at E3, but it's the bad press that gets noticed the most, and even Nintendo don't seem to know what to do with it, despite how many serious faces Reggie pulls on the subject.

I find it laughable when people say ''oh just buy it as your second console''
Not everyone can afford two gaming consoles... That's like near £800 for two consoles, and that's without the games.

Lets face it and put our fanboy flags away, Nintendo have messed up big time. The whole thing has been a complete waste of funds (and the Earths resources) on Nintendo's behalf. The R&D spent on the Gamepad alone could have been better spent on a slightly more powerful console bundled with a pair of 'normal' joypad/controllers, maybe then more third parties would want to produce games for it.
If Nintendo was worried about people getting confused over the Wii branding then maybe they should have ditched the Wii name and gone with a new next gen name instead (No I don't mean next gen as in Star Trek either)

And as for the whole system transfer rubbish, it may be cute but it's actually stupid, and can not always be relied upon for various reasons... We want an account based system... Not our stuff tied to one console - The more people that write and say this to Nintendo the better.

I was waiting to get a Wii U, but the more I read the less I like. And if the price isn't dropped, it shames me to say this but I may skip Nintendo this time round as the PS4 looks awesome.

soundcircus commented on Time: Nintendo Is "Stumped" By The Wii U GameP...:

Time can shut up, but sadly they do have a point. Clearly its way too late for Nintendo to ditch the Gamepad. But the fact is they shouldn't had bothered with it in the first place.
Nintendo loves it's gimmicks - just to be different, but it does seem they don't know what to do with it, and sadly it appears that some third parties don't want to bother for whatever reason either. Sure there was a bit of interest at E3 from some other third parties - That's great, but the fact is some big names have already openly complained about the Gamepad in the press, and it's those things that get noticed the most.
If Nintendo was so worried about customers getting confused with the Wii, then clearly they should have not continued with the Wii branding in the first place, and gone for a new 'Nintendo next gen' name instead.
The R&D Nintendo spent on the Gamepad alone could have been better spent on making a more powerful console. They could then have gone on to sell a traditional console and bundle it with a pair of traditional joypad/controllers.
If they really wanted to use a 'second' screen they should have just used the 3DS for some select games, and or wait a while until the (Nintendo Next Gen) console was in it's, say... third year, and then release a more powerful handheld and use that as the 'second' screen for some select games. Doing this not only would have introduced the next gen Nintendo HD handheld, but also at the same time continue the interest and life cycle of the Nintendo next gen console. Simples.

soundcircus commented on MCV: Wii U Is A Stopgap System, Real Successor...:

Talking of stop gaps. I'm still waiting for the Super Gameboy Handheld! (not the snes/gameboy game add on)

It'll still be clamshell design, have controller button colours like the SNES, two analog sticks, no 3D, high res screen with gorilla glass and a kick arse Nvidia chip!
