I only download if I absolutely cannot purchase a physical copy. The collector in me loves to see my collection sitting on a shelf. You can also show off when people come over!
The biggest benefit of downloading is that you can download the game right at midnight the day it comes out. Versus waiting until noon when Gamestop opens (on Sundays that is.)
@rjejr I completely agree with you. I wasn't expecting anything huge but I feel like they didn't really say much within those 30 minutes. I was expecting more footage and details on Donkey Kong, Mario, Wii Fit U, and Wii Party U as well. And I don't get how they still don't have a NA release date for Wind Waker. It's 2 months away. It doesn't make sense to me.
Random question about this game. Does it only support local multiplayer? That's what it looks like. Nintendo is so bad at creating online multiplayer games. It's like they are still stuck in the 90s. Sure it's more ideal to play locally but sometimes that can't always work. Could you imagine Skype saying "Well it's better to talk in person so let's stop development now."
@JuleyJules I think that Pikmin 3 and The Wonderful 101 are good choices due to the graphics and interesting game play. However, I agree that they should have included 3D Mario and Mario Kart U as the other two games. They know that those games are system sellers, so why not advertise it to the general public to boost sales this summer? Nintendo's marketing for the Wii U has always been terrible since they first announced it and you think they would have learned by now... I guess not.
The only cool part about it was the fact that you could actually play "arcade" games in your virtual home. However, it's such a minor detail that it shouldn't really turn any fans away from the series.
The only reason I am disappointed in this list is because it seems like half of the 1 hour Nintendo Direct will be focusing on these games. I feel like there aren't going to be very many surprises from the Big N after all. My guess is they will go in detail with Luigi U, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Zelda HD (all titles we have already seen), and then maybe show a couple minutes each of Mario, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros... They don't really have time for much else.
I'm surprised so many people dislike the idea of Nintendo creating more mature games. IMO, they are the best at creating games so imagine the possiblities if they branched out a little and created a whole new IP to compete with the other M rated games on Xbox or PS. Even if it's just one IP, that might be enough to get the Xbox and PS4 fanboys on board. However, I know Nintendo will never take this route.
Wow, all of these 90%+ reviews are really getting me stoked! I wasn't originally planning on buying this game but after all of this praise it seems like I'm going to! I haven't played Animal Crossing since Gamecube days!
@TrueWiiMaster Please don't get me started on that. Back in the 60s it was socially acceptable to oppose interracial marriage because it weirded people out and "broke the values of marriage." Fast forward 50 years and you hear the same bigoted comments from opposers of same sex love. Times change and history repeats itself. Don't judge gay relationships if you aren't gay because you wouldn't understand the hate, oppression, and weird looks for being so happy and in love.
As a gaymer, this is really disappointing to see. The translation states that this patch fixes "abnormal human behavior." That is insulting. There are a lot of gay gamers out there that were so excited to see two men together in a game. Imagine if the game blocked interracial relationships. Not cool, Nintendo. If you wanted to stay neutral you could have just kept it as is.

Re: Out Now: Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Picked it up a couple hours ago! GameStop was very packed! And their computers were going very slow due to all GameStops trying to access the servers!
