Re: iPhone Gaming Controller Could Mean "The End Of Nintendo", Claims Investment Site

"a snack between "proper" gaming sessions which won't ruin your appetite for more complex titles on dedicated handhelds and home consoles." I know quite a few people who's appetites for "real games" have been ruined. I was sitting down with the little brother, who's 11, of a friend of mine one day, watching a movie on his mom's ipad. I had my 3DS beside me with Pokemon Y in it. He picked it up, opened it, and, when saw that it was more sophisticated than subway surfer or any other iOS game, immediately said,"Yeah.... no." and set it down. And he used to play games on consoles before. It's just sad.

Re: Check Out Another Legendary Zelda Violin Medley

triforcepower73

@murphy77 I don't understand the hype behind her. She's a good violinist who does all these weird dance moves that really distract from the music. Sure, moving because of emotion in the music is fine, but her dancing feels so forced. Also when she dances while playing, she goes from being good to ok. There are a lot of way better violinists on youtube. The only reason they're aren't as well-known is probably because they're not a good looking girl who dances and has enough money/connections to be able to good music videos.

"...teased something special at the upcoming VGX awards..." What you got up your sleeve Reggie? Please be Zelda Wii U! That would make my year!!!

Or they could announce this: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=5&cad=rja&ved=0CEAQFjAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fmynintendonews.com%2F2013%2F02%2F04%2Fthe-last-story-sequel-teased-by-mistwalker%2F&ei=4G2PUq_wKo22kQeZ5oDQBw&usg=AFQjCNE_ylQ-eeFEKtGGEcZY0_VU53Lmdw&bvm=bv.56988011,d.eW0 That would be awesome as well!

triforcepower73

@VoiceOfReason Yeah, I know you didn't mean to categorize. I'm just saying that a lot of people do that. Also, no, I didn't grow up with Nintendo at a young age. Well, actually I sorta did. My first introduction to gaming was an original Xbox when I was 4 or 5, I think. I thought it was ok, but besides Battlefront 2 and this racing game, I hardly played it. Then I got a DS Lite from my grandparents when I was 7. I thought the same thing about it as I did the Xbox. I wasn't really impressed until I got The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. 3 yrs later, my brothers and I got a Wii from our parents on Christmas. We played it for 13 hrs that day. Then me and my brother went to a friend's house and we were introduced to Super Smash Bros. As soon as we got home, we went online and ordered it. I realized through playing it, that Zelda was a franchise! I went online and looked up the Zelda franchise. I'm serious, I really didn't know much about video games 5 yrs ago. So, I got Twilight Princess, and that was the first time I ever had a "I didn't know a video game could be this good" moment. So, yeah, I've been the most impressed with Nintendo throughout the past 9 yrs.

Re: Soapbox: Super Mario 3D World's Playful Whimsy is Refreshing, But Faces a Vital Commercial Test

triforcepower73

@Darknyht Yes those games are really difficult! But my friend just dismissed them because they're old games and "the graphics are awful!" I hate being in the same age group as those kinds of people. Then, when I'm in a group of 13-16 yr old guys, I'm the odd one out because nobody else likes Nintendo.

@Baum897 That's funny because we're sorta opposite. I'm 14 and I love Nintendo(and any other game company that develops fun and/or well-made games). My brother is 20 and he's not too fond of them. Except for Super Smash Bros and Kirby sometimes, he hardly plays on a Nintendo. I wish I could punch him when he says negative things about Zelda. But then he would kill me and my mom would kill me again.

@VoiceOfReason As I've said previously, it really sucks when you're in the same age group as all the teens who hate Nintendo. Then you're the odd one out and people(like some on this site) criticize teens as a whole by saying things like "kids these days don't know what video games are all about" or "teens are so ignorant" etc. There are a few teens who are smart and open-minded.

Super Mario 3D World will most certainly do well. I have no doubt about that. But I feel like the "hardcore" dudebro gamers just don't give Nintendo a chance anymore.

I was talking to a friend of mine a few months ago, who is an avid CoD, Skyrim, and Dead Space fan. He's 13 btw. We got onto the subject of Nintendo games, specifically, Zelda. He just outright said, "Zelda's stupid." I stood there for a few seconds, thinking through what I would say. I asked him why he had that opinion. He said they were too easy. I asked him which ones he had played and he said "a few minutes of Twilight Princess." I agreed with him that it was easy, but still a great, fun game that he should have given a better chance. I also told him he should try some of the older, harder ones. But, of course, like a typical teenage "hardcore" gamer, he said he hated old games because he can't stand the graphics. I just stopped arguing there, cause I knew there was no changing his mind.

That's just one example. I have many other friends who are like that. And it goes to show what's sadly popular these days. And to be clear, the games he likes aren't "bad." I'm just saying that it seems that the modern gamer doesn't want to give Nintendo a chance, no matter the reviews/scores their games get, no matter the price, no matter anything. They just typically dismiss it immediately if it has the Nintendo logo on it. Modern gamers are missing out on so much. I feel sorry for them.

Re: Review: Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)

triforcepower73

This is the Mario game we've been waiting for since Galaxy 2! I'm so glad this turned out the way it did. Now, admit it, everybody. You can't blame the people, like me, that thought this looked rehashed and uninspired. Because let's be honest, that trailer they released at E3 was awful! Thank goodness they released that trailer at the beginning of last month!

Re: Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida Wants The Wii U To Succeed

triforcepower73

That's cool! Thanks to my brother asking for the original xbox for Christmas back in 2004, I've been with the xbox brand for the past two generations, and Nintendo for just the Wii generation. I currently have a Wii U and 3DS so I'm hooked to Nintendo, but xbox has always been there in my gaming life, too. I think that's going to change with this gen. It'll be Nintendo and Sony from now on. Over the years, I've realized, Microsoft really sucks.

Re: Aonuma Keeps Returning To Zelda In The Hope Of Making A Perfect Game

triforcepower73

@Genesaur So is the best Metroid the original one? Going by your logic, the first one of anything is the best, because it made the sequels possible. And I think most people would agree that, while being a great game at its time, the first Assassin's Creed wasn't the best in the series. While spawning a great franchise, it had its problems. The first one isn't always the best. In some cases, yes. But not always.

Re: Aonuma Keeps Returning To Zelda In The Hope Of Making A Perfect Game

triforcepower73

@Genesaur I really don't get what people see in that game. I love the game and it was amazing, but I don't think it's a contender for "Best Game Of All Time." I personally think Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is more deserving of that title.

Back to the topic at hand, Aounuma is truly an amazing developer! If anybody could make a perfect game, he could. The problem is nobody can make a perfect game...

Re: Poll: Is Nintendo's Wii U Advertising and Marketing Doing Enough?

triforcepower73

I don't think they should advertise the games unless they blow the budget with multiple campaigns. And come on, their Nintendo! They have like $10 billion in the bank right? If they used just a small fraction of that on advertising that it's the major new upgrade from the Wii, it has games you can't play anywhere else, it has a cheaper price tag than the competing next gen consoles and free online, it has a great new innovation in the gamepad, and it simply is the next Nintendo console, they could completely turn their fortunes around!

Re: Feature: A Week of Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Screens - Issue Eleven

triforcepower73

The Fox and Toon Link one. Looks pretty intense. I hope that they tune up the stage builder in this one. In Brawl they could've at least implemented the pointer so that you could just point at the building materials and then point and click where you want it. Instead of using the d pad, which was a pain. In this you could just use the touch screen on the gamepad to place all the blocks.

Re: Nintendo Will Be "Careful" About The Artistic Direction Of Zelda In The Future

triforcepower73

I think they've experimented with enough artstyles that they could use previous ones for their future games but with brand new graphics, of course. Similar to the way(I believe it was) Miyamoto said Nintendo chooses what franchises they're going to work on based off of what gameplay style they're wanting to do, not just choosing a franchise to make a new entry in just for the heck of it; they could choose one of the many artsyles they've used in the past, based off of the gameplay style/ atmosphere/ feeling they want to give the user. So my point is, they've spent 30 yrs experimenting, I think they have enough artstyle material that they can rest easy on making a new style for at least another 5 games.

Re: Soapbox: The Wii Changed The Face of Gaming, Before The Console Industry Promptly Forgot Its Lessons

triforcepower73

@GN004Nadleeh I'm having a hard time understanding what you mean by "much less content." Maybe you were sadly confused by the article about how much space the Super Mario 3D World download will take(which doesn't have anything to do with how great the game is actually going to be or how much replayability it will have); and maybe you thought the bigger something is in MB/GB, the better. Or perhaps you were under the assumption that the bigger a game's budget is, the better the game is. But, if you look at many of the good indie games that have come out that are only a teeny tiny percentage of the buget of games like GTA 5 and the like, you'll see that, arguably, those indie titles can be just as fun, or even more fun than the big budget games. And indie titles are unarguably in a whole other league of creativity when compared to COD, FIFA, Madden, GTA, etc.

"power is everything, why do you think nintendo finally matched up to hd." I haven't laughed so hard since........ well I'm having trouble remembering the last time I laughed so hard since I'm laughing way too hard to remember! You are joking, right?

Re: Soapbox: The Wii Changed The Face of Gaming, Before The Console Industry Promptly Forgot Its Lessons

triforcepower73

I think when Nintendo announced the Wii U they were focused on bringing the same market again that they went after with the Wii, but since then I think they've changed their goal. I still think they want to make new experiences that are only going to be available on the Wii U, but I'm pretty sure they've realized that it doesn't have the same "WOW" factor as its predecessor had.
