I'll probably get this. I had fun with the first one. Except the combat system. It certainly made you look awesome, but after about the first quarter of the game it just got boring.
I think just within the past 3 or 4 months, Aounuma has shown that he's really growing as a game developer and learning from past mistakes. I can't wait to see what he's been working on for the Wii U!
@JebbyDeringer That's how Zelda started out! A completely open world do whatever you want with no guidance type game. It was one of the first of that genre!
"One thing for sure, the Wii U is a good console and can still have pretty good games on it." I hate that statement. Mainly the "can still have pretty good games on it" part. It comes off as, "Even though it's not as powerful as PS4/Xbone, it's still not too bad." At least to me it does.
@Williaint Well it's really the SS Link. And except for when I'm talking about OoT, I always just call the character Link. And since Toon Link is on the adult timeline, he really is an adult. Even though everyone in WW looks like a child.
Oooh I can't wait to see all the people on here that have been hating this game, or at least disliking strongly, start lavishing it with praise and calling it one of the best Zeldas once they announce Zelda HD, which probably won't be what they were expecting.
This is really good for Nintendo that their becoming less reliant on one of the main reasons they are who they are. For the people complaining about the supposed lack of quality of newer entries in Miyamoto's series like Skyward Sword and 3D World, they really do have a great level of quality that, yes, might fall a bit below the Nintendo standard, but trust me. Over the next few years, the less Miyamoto is involved, the harder the new devs will have to work, and thus gain more experience for the future. Basically the games will get a lot better!
@HyperSonicEXE Also the happy mask salesman's face generally looks very similar to Miyamoto's.
@Phle She had no idea what she was talking about. No wonder Wii U sales are bad, if Target and the news are advertising it as a normal Wii with a cool new controller.
Wow! Congrats, Nintendo! You are the only console manufacturer that I can see being around a 100 years from now. If only Hiroshi could have stayed around long enough for this event...
@gamelall 1. What JaxonH said. 2. Zelda isn't a "release every year or 2" series. 3. They probably had a small fraction of their Zelda development team working on WWHD since it is just a remastering. 4. Handheld Zeldas take way less time than console ones. 5. ALBW is using almost the same overworld as ALTTP. So now tell my why can't you leave ice out in warm weather and expect it to stay frozen? Because that's not how ice works! And expecting them to release SS in 2011 and be able to come out with another one in two years... That's not how game development works! Or at least not Zelda development.
What does everyone hate about Other M and Team Ninja? @gamelall How in the world would they have made a new Zelda game in time for the Wii U's launch, just one year after SS came out? Sure it takes a year to make a decent Mario title, but this is Zelda and unless you wanted a rushed, mediocre game that would've ruined the franchise's reputation, then you should learn to wait.
@Fast_45er Actually I liked the 3rd prime a LOT more. It retained the isolated atmosphere that the series is famous for and threw in some people so you wouldn't feel lonely all the time. I guess that's why a lot of people still like the 1st one the most, maybe because they feel adding other people threw off the isolation feel. But I think it just added more depth and made it feel more like a real universe.
I've said this before: when they do make the next Metroid game, I hope they build upon Corruption by adding bounty quests(side quests). Take a hint from Mass Effect and make it where you can fly to the Galactic Federation and accept different missions, and then fly to the planet where the mission takes you. And to top it all off, make the planets open world. So pretty much just do your thing, Retro, and take a few tips from the Mass Effect franchise. Then we can feel like a real bounty hunter.
@Windy Oh that sucks. I live outside town and don't get dsl or cable, so my family has to pay for a satellite and, as anyone in the same situation knows, it's awful. You get a limited amount of internet usage for an unfairly high price. And you can rarely do online gaming.
@scottsensei Thanks! I don't know how I'm going to balance between all the games I'm currently playing and the rest of life. I've still got (at least) 40 more hrs of Xenoblade's story, not to mention the side quests, I'm probably going to get MH3U, and WWHD when it comes out!
So sad that I haven't seen anything about this amazing person's passing on any non-gaming sites, yet Steve Jobs' death was everywhere. And I get that he affected more people through his brands, but still. People carry on playing their angry birds or candy crush, not knowing that the guy who is one of the sole reasons those exist died today.
I finally got Xenoblade Chronicles on Wednesday but was only able to start yesterday. I'm about to save Juju from the metal face mechon. I have one thing to say: I was expecting it to be incredible, but I was dead wrong. It's phenomenal!!! If you're lucky enough to live by a gamestop that has it in stock, go buy it!! It is worth every penny of the $80($70 if you're a power rewards member).
I think the review system here is fine. And I agree with both Andy and Tom on different. I think scores are a nice convenience to have. They are like the front flap of a book where it tells the basic plot of the book. It's just something that can indicate whether or not you might like the book. But scores definitely get WAY to much attention.
@IceClimbers But 7 of those consoles are Nintendo's and they get profit no matter which one consumers choose. I don't really consider the DSi, DSi XL, and 3DS XL different consoles anyway. Just different models. And if one console doesn't do well, they can stop shipping it and let the ones that are doing well keep on doing well.
@KAHN Just give up on Nintendo then, if, even when they do give you an original title, you still whine about them remastering a game for those who didn't get to experience the original. Or at least keep your whining to yourself. It annoys everyone else.
I was on a two hour trip to my grandparents' house with my cousin(he's 6). I had my 3ds and he had his dad's iPad. I was playing ocarina of time while he was playing jetpack joyride. After 10 mins he put it down and said with a sigh "I'm bored." I asked him if he wanted to help me save the world. He asked me how and I told him I needed to collect two more special medallions to gain the power to stop an evil man named Ganondorf. He said sure and for the next hour and a half, we(mostly him though) beat the shadow temple together. I don't know about you but I'm going to raise my kids playing Nintendo games.
Yeah I have to agree. Having $10 billion in the bank and a portable system that is selling way better than the home consoles and other portable devices is a pretty tough situation.
This sounds like it could be a great step in the right direction of changing the traditional dungeon format of find key, get map/compass, fight miniboss, get special item that allows you into area that you were wondering about but couldn't access, get boss key, fight and defeat boss that happens to have a weakness that you can take advantage of with special item and leave.
Oh and btw, everybody is saying Link's Awakening had the bow and shovel, but Aonuma's first Zelda game he worked on was Ocarina of Time. Meanwhile I'm listening to some of Hiroyuki Sawano's music, the guy who's doing the soundtrack for X. He is incredible and my new favorite composer!
@Ricube @Ricube You guys realize I'm being half sarcastic right? I love Mario and have the highest respect for the series. Without it gaming would either be nonexistent or very, very different and most likely a lot worse than it it now. I'm just saying I have only enough cash to spend on one of these two and since I've never played a donkey kong I'm going to buy tropical freeze instead.
@XneroX @Goginho Yeah except it's called Super Mario 3D Land. They're pretty much the same. One's on a home console and the other is on a handheld that's about the biggest difference I can find between the two. And the multiplayer but nobody in my family would be interested in doing that since they "don't play Nintendo games."
@andrea987 I've had many a parent ask me what that was in my hand. I always say it's the upgrade from the DS called the 3DS. They say "Oh so it just plays DS games in 3D?" Some reason when it comes to Nintendo consoles people just don't know that certain systems play certain games. But when it's Microsoft or Sony it doesn't. They can just add a number to the brand name.

Great review, Martin! I just have two weeks until I can pick this up. I have it preordered and I don't download full retail games. Ever.
Oh and what is the price of this game? I'm still confused as to whether it's $50 or $60.
