Re: Soapbox: I'm Secretly Terrified Of An All-Digital Gaming Future

As an avid retro gamer and collector, I feel very much the same way. I resisted the digital trend even in the 3DS age, only buying a few digital releases. Weirdly, the Switch has convinced me to go digital, but for a much different reason. The games are much smaller than your standard disc or old cartridge, and the port is blocked by a plastic latch that is kind of a pain to get to while the Switch is docked. I do most of my gaming in front of the TV on the couch, so it ends up being a hassle to change them out if I wanna play a different game, especially because I keep the cards organized in a Switch case (which hides the game card art). With my 3DS that was no problem because that was all portable. With the Switch it's not near as easy as hopping over to my shelf, visually spotting Mega Man X, and popping that in the SNES. So I've done a lot of digital titles essentially out of laziness.

Re: EA Says It's Still Too Early To Judge Demand For More Games On Switch

For me personally, I don't care because I think EA's games are generally joyless, microtransaction filled garbage that seek to churn out shoddy multiplayer experiences that leech people's money.

From an industry standpoint though... maybe your game isn't selling well because you couldn't be bothered to port it properly? Even if they love EA in the first place, people don't want to buy a buggy, unfinished mess. The company half-assed the port and is surprised they aren't making money on it.

Re: Bethesda Adopts "Popular Internet Saying" To Promote DOOM On Switch

@Hrimfaksi It's the same reason people will buy Skyrim and have already bought a lot of the other ports on the system: they get to play it on the go. I bought Doom on the PC but I'd really rather have it on the Switch so I can play it in handheld mode, and also on the couch. Also I can see this working for families where maybe a parent wants to give his kids a console but also get a more adult themed game for themselves without having to buy a relatively expensive gaming computer or a second console.
