Wow! The site looks really good! I used to only check vc-reviews once a week, because Nintendo only updates the vc library once a week, but I'll have to come back more often now.
@KS8, yeah I understand. I couldn't fit rbtransformed either... it would've been something like "rbtrnsfrmd" had I gone with my usual screen name which just looks like gibberish! lol
I honestly haven't even tried the other characters. And I've really only played around with the goggles as far as equipment goes. I wonder if you can unlock any extras.
Hey, I bought the game yesterday. I think it's pretty cool and is worth a buy from what I've seen/played. (Although I think 1080 is definitely better offline.) I just logged onto WFC for the first time and I was surprised to see that I'm rated as no. 2 right behind Jul. I also see Knuxsonic on there, which I'm guessing is you, KnucklesSonic8. I just added my friend code on the forums.
I'm going to practice a little more and figure out how to perform some tricks before actually racing random people online. Just out of curiosity, who do you guys use and how do you customize them? I use Ledrov with a black beanie, jet black goggles, and the black jacket.
This is the news I've been waiting for! Hopefully it comes out in the US and the UK soon. Smash Bros. was such a huge hit back in the day and exceeded everyone's expectations. I know it pales in comparison to Brawl and especially Melee on a technical standpoint, but it is one of my favorite games.
I always found it fun to play as Kirby with beam swords on at a high frequency... I used to "juggle" my opponents by kicking them around and throwing swords at them from a distance. good times...
This is so cool. I never had a SNES growing up, so I'm definitely going to download this right away! I'm so glad the "summer drought" is over and we're getting so many great games on a weekly basis once again.
I was planning on downloading Mario Golf if nothing good came out today... I'm pretty sure Secret of Mana is classified as "good!" haha (Is Mario Golf worth getting though?)
Stuffgamer1, I don't mind you mentioning that at all. I should've distinguished between the two. I just wanted to clear that up so I didn't come across as being ignorant. Oh, and I'm not too much of a "glitch gamer" per se, but it is fun to try out little tricks like that after seeing them on youtube and the like. Have you seen the 16-minute speed run of the original SM64? That's epic in every sense of the word! I've been able to pull off the backwards long-jumping, stair case skipping trick a few times... good times...
Classicmike, I'm kind of confused as to which comment you were responding to. I know that the DSi is coming out if that's what you were talking about. Were you referring to the "well into late calendar 2009" comment? Or were you talking about the vc coming to the DSi? I'll have to go check out that site, but if you were talking about the vc, I certainly hope you're right! That'll warrant me getting a new DS soon.
What vc games would you guys want to play on the DSi the most?
StuffGamer1- I bought the original DS at launch back in '04 and got SM64DS a few days later! I know you didn't know any better, but for some reason I just like the original one more. I thoroughly enjoyed the DS remake, but the original has the spiral staircase glitch among others... then again the DS one has the hill/waterfall area glitch outside of the castle. hm...
I guess the possibility of the vc or even just a "GB vc" coming to the DSi has got everyone excited. Then again, why shouldn't it? Have you ever noticed that Nintendo fans usually seem to have better ideas about games/connectivity than Nintendo?
But just so everyone else knows, Nintendo hasn't explicitly said that they'll do anything of the sort (as far as I know). The only hint has been the announcement of DSWare. So don't get your hopes up too high!
Oh I know! When I first saw it online last night during the Tokyo Conference, I was so excited about it! Really, as long as they implement the vc in some way, I'll be won over! I've been honestly hoping for a rerelease/update of Ocarina of Time for a while now considering next month will be its 10th anniversary. I have the Master Quest version, but would be more than happy to spend 1000 points on the vc version if I could transfer it to my DS!
BlackFira - it won't come out until "well into calendar 2009" according to Reggie (IGN).
I personally think this new DS will be awesome, but I really will have no use for it at all unless they let you play your vc games - specifically N64 games - on it. I would love to play OoT or SM64 on the go.
I just bought an iPod Touch (8GB) and it has gone far above and beyond my expectations. Outside of games, the iPod completely trumps the new DSi- I never thought I'd have to compare an iPod to a DS! lol. I already have a camera as well, so unless the DSi has new exclusive software and/or a portable vc of sorts (not just DSWare, which was announced), I'll hold off until the DS2.
OK, thanks guys for your help. I probably won't be able to download it for quite some time, but thanks for the info. (Life just always get in the way, you know? haha)
I wasn't interested in this simulator until after reading the review. (Excellent job btw!) This seems to be highly worth the $5 price tag! I think I will get this... it would be nice to have this going on in the background as I write up reports and other stuff for school.
Plus, I'm sure the Beethoven and Bach music will be soothing. Hey, even getting 35 songs for $5 is worth it! haha
Stratos, I would love to see a NSMB2 for the DS. (I'm sure nintendo will release a sequel before they bring out the new handheld.) Of course, I would also love to see a true 16-bit side-scrolling Mario game for WiiWare so long as the difficulty is equally as high as the originals, if not more-so.
That video was so cool! I never got into the Mega Man series back in the day (partly because I never owned an NES), but this clip still got me excited for it. It'll be so nice to play a challenging, "new" game. I would love to see other companies try to rebirth old franchises for WiiWare using their original graphics/capabilities. Imagine playing an original 16-bit Zelda, Mario, or Kirby game or even something like "Pokemon Stadium 3" or Starfox with N64 graphics! Not only would the games be cheaper, but if done right, they could be more fun than their modern-day counterparts.
I haven't posted on this site in a long time because the vc has just been one big disappointment this summer. I go back to school next week, and the only new game that I've ended up buying in the last few months was for the DS (FFIV, what else?). Now I did buy some stuff earlier like FFCC:MLaaK, Dr. Mario, and Metal Slug, but I could've completely just avoided those games, because none of them appealed to me as much as I wanted them to. Nintendo really missed a golden opportunity this summer to offer great games on the vc during this "drought" of AAA Wii games. Oh well, it's not my company...
On topic, it's too bad that Bionic Commando won't be released on the vc. I barely know anything about it, but I'm sure there are many of you out there who were looking forward to playing it.
(note: I am very pleased with the great selection of games on the vc, but I would love to have the option of purchasing LoZ: Majora's Mask, Earthbound, and Super Smash Bros. That's all I'm asking for...)
First off, I'm sorry for you guys in Europe. Nintendo has created some huge letdowns in recent times.
@Cooldued59, do you know anything about how that guy got SSB on his Wii? I noticed that he had a "homebrew channel," as well as two SD channels... interesting... Could it be a storage solution?
69, Thanks for the "feedback." It truly is an addictive game. You're right about that "one more day feeling!" I tried not to play as much today, but I still found myself playing for at least an hour or two. (which is a lot considering I don't play games nearly as much as I used to)
Oh, Masuyo, what has been the most rewarding add-on? I'm not interested in the Pirate costume, but are there any "must haves?"
Well the days in the game go by really quickly, and I'm already on the 32nd day. I wasn't planning on playing that much today, but it just became so addictive! On this site I'd easily rate this game a 5/5 from what I've played so far. It's one of those hate it/love it kind of games though. I've never owned a simulation game before, so it took a little while for me to grow to like that aspect. I really enjoy the RPG elements that were thrown in, because it adds a whole new level to the way the game plays out. There's a balance of sending out warriors, thieves, etc. and building up your kingdom using a limited supply of resources. If you are at all interested in this game, I'd recommend it. I haven't bought any of the expansion packs yet, but I think I might buy one or two depending on the cost and item.
Yeah, I just did too. I'm about to play it. I won't be writing a review or anything, but I'll try to state my opinion on the game sometime soon and rate it.
WaddleWave- Same here. The videos look great, and I would like to buy a game today, but I'd like to hear other people's opinions first. For me it's between FF:CC and Lost Winds. LW is only 3 hours long, and I haven't been too interested in it, but I don't want to just throw down $15 for FF:CC because there aren't any other good alternatives for the time being. Then again, this has been the only game that I've actually been remotely interested in...
I'm so excited about this game now! I've been watching some play-through videos on youtube and been frequenting Starmen.net more often. I just hope it's released soon and not at the very end of the summer like some big games were last year. (Metroid, Super Metroid, and Metroid Prime 3 to be exact)
I never had the opportunity to play this game the first time around, so I'll definitely download it the day it comes out.
@Smashter- Yeah, even though I really want a storage solution, if it involves too much money, I'll just stick to temporarily deleting games.
I'm confused about your Sony comment. Did Sony have an update for something pertaining to USB's? If so, then I see what you meant. I wouldn't say that they are trapped, but it certainly doesn't give them any reason not to give us an SD-related firmware update.
@smashter- good point, although I don't think Nintendo sees this as a mistake. They meant to only give us 512MB, because while that is enough to hold some people, those of us who spend a lot on the VC are more likely to pay even more out for a hard drive. I too would love a firmware update, but since they have potential customers who will buy an HD, they probably won't give us a free option.
Tim, nicely put! That last statement made me "lol." I almost completely agree with you. I might buy a few things on WiiWare, but that's only if Nintendo gives us a reasonable means of storage. I'm not going to continue to temporarily delete excellent VC games just because they don't want to provide an alternative method.
I've never played any of the games from the Mother series, but I would love to play them. Three of the games I votes for are in the top five (SMRPG, Earthbound, and LoZ:MM). As everyone's been saying, there is now no excuse as to why Nintendo shouldn't release Earthbound; they know it will sell.
My most wanted game has been- ever since the VC was announced- Majora's Mask. I honestly didn't give that game a fair chance when I was younger, but now that I've looked into it more, it appears to have been one of the best Zelda games. I've played and beaten every Zelda game except for a couple of the GB ones, so I would download MM in a heartbeat.
P.S. the other two games I voted for that didn't make it were Super Smash Bros. and Kirby Super Star
Oh, and this may sound a little harsh, but I'm going to say it anyway: Nintendo really needs to step it up. They finally have the market in their hands again, but they still aren't listening to their fans. I know they like to do things their own way, but seriously, we the consumers know what we want.
Arobo21, I completely agree with you. All I need is Zelda, Mario, and a few others to keep me happy. Speaking of which, I still really Majora's Mask. I hope we get it this Summer at the latest.
I would like to see these games in this order: -Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask -Super Smash Bros. (64) -Earthbound -Kirby Super Star -Super Mario RPG
Unfortunately, the last three don't have much of a chance at all since Nintendo apparently hates/ignores it's Earthbound/SMRPG fans and Kirby Super Star is being remade into a DS game. I have never tried Earthbound or SMRPG so I don't have a strong desire to play them, but I would love to try them if the opportunity arose.
Drizzt, trust me, I feel your pain! It is very frustrating. I used to buy a ton of games before I ran out of space. Granted, Nintendo has put out some of their best games already, but still, the 512 MB limit is keeping them away from an even bigger profit.
Rapadash6, I didn't know about the "automatic aspect ratio adjusting." I use a 4:3 TV anyway, but I'm sure you wish the real VC games did that in the same way. I forget what the technical term is, but an update of some sort would be the cheapest and easiest answer to the SD problem. (Isn't it called a freeware update or something like that?) The update would please almost all of us here, and help us save money so that we don't have to go buy a hard drive specifically for the Wii.
I think that WiiWare has great potential, but I think that the main hurdle will be the whole "storage issue." I went out the other day to buy an SD card. I have at least 25 VC titles, so I thought the best solution would be to get another storage device so that I wouldn't have to keep deleting my files. I was so frustrated when I found out that copying over files to an SD card takes almost as long as just downloading the game in the first place. Nintendo really needs to step up like the other companies have and deliver-- and this is coming from a life-long, Nintendo-only fan. The simplest answer is an update that allows the direct use of SD cards... Brawl has already proved that the Wii is capable of doing this. (saving levels/pictures/etc. on an SD card and being able to read the files straight from the card)
Like Diablos79 said, Nintendo needs to refocus on its "fans" and not just cater to the casual audience who will move on to something else in a few years.

Majora's Mask! Finally! This has been the one game I've been wanting most for the last two years.
After SSB and LoZ:MM come, my vc collection will finally be complete.

I would like to see these games in this order:
-Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
-Super Smash Bros. (64)
-Earthbound
-Kirby Super Star
-Super Mario RPG
Unfortunately, the last three don't have much of a chance at all since Nintendo apparently hates/ignores it's Earthbound/SMRPG fans and Kirby Super Star is being remade into a DS game. I have never tried Earthbound or SMRPG so I don't have a strong desire to play them, but I would love to try them if the opportunity arose.
