To be perfectly honest... I for one am glad nintendo is struggling. Just maybe this will given them a very necessary kick in the patootie. I don't want to see them completely fail of course, but they need a wake up call.
This whole wii u saga so far makes it look like nintendo doesn't understand their own industry...which is very scary as a fan. You've got the jump on the competition and you've taken a very lazy approach to supporting your product.
Did the unbelievable success of the original Wii make them arrogant? They did achieve the impossible with the Wii after all... it somehow became the number one selling console of it's generation while having one of the worst game library's in history.
Trash talk can be fun. Really feeling nostalgic after reading this article and some of the comments. Reminds me of those arguments at recess with my friends about snes vs genesis. Some things will never change.
Almost every model 1 NES I've ever seen suffers from the blinking red light/white screens of death...the tell tale sign of bent pins. The way the NA NES was built pretty much guaranteed this failure over time. Yours must be one in a million to still work fine.
Also somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the Japanese version of zelda forced you to use the mic. Shouting into the mic was just an alternative to using a weapon against certain enemies.
For those who can't afford to hunt this down (or the equally expensive NA NES2) the cheapest option is changing the 72 pin adapter in the model 1 NES. Its very easy to do.
A new adapter will also go bad over time so buy yourself about 5 and you'll probably be set for life.
I always choose the retail option if possible, and most of the reasons why seem to be no brainers.
-I can lend the game to friends -I can resell it if I want -Its easier to get games for cheap (used or on sale) -It's not tied to one specific console, where it has to be downloaded again if something goes wrong. -And the collector in me wants to see that box art on my shelf...
I got one the first time around and will be gifting it to my nephew this Christmas... he's terrible at keeping track of his DS games.... hoping this helps.
If you stand by your game then release a demo for it already. Have the balls to allow people to try a game for free before just blindly throwing $60 down and hope for the best.
Their twitter said it would come before December 15th... so lets hope that's still on track.
@Jellitoe Its a soft vinyl skin that is very easy to remove. It won't leave anything behind on the console. However these skins are very hard to remove without stretching and ruining them. So once its on there, leave it alone unless you're just going to trash it.
I've owned both the matte and glossy versions for the original wii and I definitely recommend the matte. The glossy is just too shiny and stands out too much.
These skins also require alot of patience. I bough DS skins from this site too a while back and it was a real pain to line it up around the buttons. Getting everything to line up perfectly is a challenge and it never looks as good as the pics on the website.
I can't believe people haven't figured out yet that in Canada, what is known in many countries as April Fools Day, is celebrated in December. The 7th to be exact.
If Nintendo ever got out of the console making business, that would kill gaming for me forever. They are the only ones doing anything remotely interesting with their tech.
I've played the power of illusion demo and while I enjoyed it, it certainly isn't worth $40. Think ill wait til it comes down. This month is already getting expensive enough with the wii u just days away...
I'm thinking some of you didn't read the entire article... sounds like games will have achievements in some shape or form... they just won't be stamped on your account for all to see. They are tracked in the game only.
Forget the no flash thing... I really hope an on-screen keyboard appears on the controller's touch screen whenever you have to type in the browser. If not, I'll never use this. Scrolling through the entire alphabet to spell out a word is always the worst part of console browsers.
In the graphics department the Activision games previewed today looked terrible. Looked like Wii titles that didn't make a deadline... so they got bumped to the Wii U. Really pathetic.
Mario U, Zombi U and Rayman look like guaranteed fun.
I bought a GameCube specifically for this game back in 2002. I liked it while playing it...enough to play it through 100%... but I've never had a desire to revisit it, and I'd never recommend it as a must play. It just left me with a "meh" feeling.
I wasn't put off by the island setting and different feel. I was playing Mario games since the beginning... every game was unique.... You never knew what the new Mario game was gonna be like. So when this was released I was just like...."hmm, an island vacation. Ok let's,play."
Maybe if this got a rerelease and worked with the wiimote and nun chuck I'd consider giving it another go. That control scheme for 3d mario is perfection in my opinion. But I'd definitely skip all blue coin hunting and those roller coaster levels...
I consider the 3d marios (sunshine, galaxy) the true sequels to the Mario games I loved as a kid (nes, snes).
Im not gonna lose sleep over a new 2d Mario not being totally unique and original. They are just fun distractions while I wait for the next "real" sequel. I think its a pretty safe bet nintendo has something special planned for the wii u.
I'm a lefty. The idea of having to pay an extra $40 for the circle pad pro just to play this comfortably sounds like a deal breaker to me. What a shame...

Re: Talking Point: Going Mobile Will Give Miiverse a New Lease of Life
The last second of the video shows "Miiverse for Nintendo 3ds". Too bad it ends there.

Re: Netflix Now Available on TVii
The overall speed of the wii u just kills any desire I have to use tvii. Maybe when they finally improve the speed i will give tvii another chance.
Re: Review: Wheel of Fortune (Wii U)
Quite the timely review there nintendo life. I guess it's more of a comment on the current state of wii u releases... It's a wasteland out there.

Re: Nintendo Is Sorry For Wii U Load Times, Is Working On A Fix
My load times aren't nearly as bad as the woman in the video...maybe she's got a bum console. Havent had a freeze either since the last update.
Re: Fresh Figures Suggest Nintendo DS Is The Most Popular Console Of All Time
Best handheld ever. I've always felt the DS was the spiritual successor to the SNES.

wow slow news day...

3 min into the demo I knew I'd never play it again.
Both handheld and console versions have taken a beating in the reviews...don't think we'll see more sequels anytime soon

Re: Entire SNES Game Collection Up For Sale
I don't understand. What will be different about these roms compared to ones that have floated around the internet now for the past 10+ years?
Re: Entire SNES Game Collection Up For Sale
What a deal! ... usually 1 complete copy of Earthbound goes for this price on eBay.
Re: 18-Rated Content on Wii U eShop Only Accessible for Four Hours a Day
Hehe... this is hilarious. They couldn't have the eshop check a parental setting on the console to verify what content is allowed?
Re: Wii U Update Will Be Available Out Of The Box Next Year
Personally it didn't bother me too much. I set it to download, walked away, and an hour later it was done.
It does make me long for the old days though...where the console was complete and ready to go right when I removed it from the box.

Re: Mutant Mudds Deluxe Venturing Onto Wii U in Q1 2013

However, if they don't find an interesting way to incorporate the gamepad into this version, I won't be buying.

Other than that I don't see the point, even if it could connect to the Internet...
