@Kalmaro So we are using different definitions And ideas of free speech and what it should look like. If you are coming from an absolutist position, fine. The UK doesn’t have freedom of speech. I have access to a Level of freedom to express my opinions including the criticism of religion, government, organisations that I think also safeguards against an individuals right to live without fear of their safety of damaging detriment to their wellbeing. This is subjective but that I feel we have mostly the right balance. I don’t think my inability to say the N word to a black person walking down the street without the possibility of being arrested is a bad thing or the loss of Speech (of value) or the beginnings of fascism.
@willi3su sorry, yes you’re right. But My main point to Klamaro stands. That, as someone living in a country where you can’t freely say any racist nonsense That you like (with some exceptions like Boris Johnson) my freedom of speech has not been eroded
@Kalmaro I hear this very hardline take on free speech a lot on some of the American programming I watch occasionally. (Thats in no way an assertion about your nationality just an observation) I find it interesting as a Brit because in most countries including the US you have in place hate laws that do in fact criminalise forms of speech. You can’t go around saying what ever you want. These laws IMO have not created a slippery slope eroding my Speech.
1:all forms or art, sport and entertainment in general have a long history of using their platform to protest and make a political statement.
Arguing to silence this is code for: I’m threatened by your opinion and don’t know how to make a rebuttal OR your opinion and your oppression have no bearing in my life so I don’t want to hear it.
If people can’t protest using what are considered “appropriate platforms” people will get creative. There needs to be an outlet.
Free speech without rules or consequence is chaos. It means misinformation and all forms of hatred and can run wild. People protesting the concern of eroding democracy where they live using a computer game in my mind is not free speech gone wrong.
@DavidMac I really dont think a lot of the pokemon mechanics have to be scrapped entirely. I think they should just build upon the new hardware and computing available to better realise a world in which pokemon roam free. Cherry picking the ideas seen in XC and BOTW where animal types were only found in certain regions and maybe during certain weather. See them foraging for food. See herd pokemon travel in herds. Throw in a good camera taking system like Zeldas and you have a world that pokemon fans would love to just explore. Discover hidden groves where rarer pokemon reside and also have super strong pokemon out from the beginning. In XC I would love to challenge them get wiped out, strengthen up and try again.
@JMR_Alden I was obsessed with killing as many of the large beasts as possible and finding all the secret areas. At times I played the game like it some kind of Monster Hunter. That really added a lot of hours to my play through.
@Inu I was thinking that with Pokemon now on a home console with longer development time the Pokemon are going to have to be introduced Gen by Gen. It would take too long to develop all 800 Pokemon in one go for a new game. Especially if they have to be programmed to have certain habitat behaviours. But seeing the backlash to sword/shield if the Pokemon were released by generation there would be massive pushback.
looks stunning. Don't think I can double dip though, last run through took 110 hours.
Side note: I hope Monolith have more of a hand in developing future pokemon titles. Would love to see a more open world environment where pokemon can have proper habitats. That way you could have elemnts of pokemon Snap. Basically, the way animals behaved in BOTW (Monolith also played a hand there) would be a great match for pokemon i think.
@nintendoknife I was fortunate enough to finish getting them all this weekend but I must have played close to 20 hours (unthinkable before this virus hit as a guy in his 30s in full time work) and I just got the last recipe I believe yesterday afternoon.
I have almost completed the balloon popping nook miles achievement card which maxs out at 300 which is crazy. The cherry items are far better than any of the egg stuff IMO. Especially the dynamic cherry blossom wall. Its really cool. Hope you find them all. If you play online people can gift them to you.
The joke came to his mind very quickly in a way it wouldn't if it was concerning the honoring of deceased white french people because he, like many others subconsciously/consciously do not recognise the humanity of people whose ethnicity differs from theirs, and therefore, you can publicly mock them and think it will be embraced.
@Ogbert you’re right regarding the clothes they aren’t too feminine. I guess my main critique was the missed opportunity to have Easter bunny suits , shorts etc. Regardless I think the design will have a limited appeal and after the event passes I can’t imagine too many people gladly displaying/wearing these items but we will see.
I collected all the items in no time because I have already clocked 90 hours of play time since launch. The cherry blossom stuff felt like way more of an event for me. Beautiful cherry blossoms with cherry petals that weren’t obtrusive and the blossom DIY cards were great. That’s how events should run in the future.
I think the whole bunny event has been really disappointing. The items you can craft are really tacky, you can’t fish for medium fish without bait because all you get are Eggs, the clothes are all coded feminine and are quite ugly as well and your resources decline as there are too many eggs. I know pocket camp gets slated but they know how to design event items that people will desire.
Yes, aesthetic is subjective but you have to admit it’s really lazy design. Take an egg put it on its side and bam! You have a table. Amazing.
Hi everyone, first post here. I'm playing AC and have already put in 80 hours making it my 2nd most played game on Switch after BOTW (220hrs). I usually play solo but I badly want all the fruit and flower varieties. Since AC is my life during quarantine I am embracing playing online with others. Happy to share my islands native resources (oranges, peaches, windflowers, hyacinths and tulips) in exchange for all other fruit and flower types (no a requirement). I don't think I have ever played a game for 80 hours and have so little to show for it but I'm addicted.
