Re: Talking Point: So, When Will Nintendo Announce Its Next Console?

The reason I know it's not coming out this year is because dating back to the early 90s, Nintendo has shared publicly or privately and then it came out, the next gens code name anywhere from 12-24 months before officially announcing the system and then release 6-12 months later. We had project reality, dolphin, revolution, cafe, and NX. So far we don't even have a code name.

@westman98 Those can easily be cross generation games just like BOTW became. That way Nintendo said they support switch but are still moving forward. There are no signs any of those games are coming exclusive to switch. You don't find it suspicious we have seen no trailers let alone even a still of any of those games except Splatoon and that's not exactly a console pusher on the spec side of the house.

Edit project triangle as well, but it's not a first party title.

I'm starting to think this drought of major first party games is pointing to a new console/hybrid generation coming in the next 24 months. This typically happens for Nintendo when they start their transition. They always state they will have continued support of the current console but the amount and quality of first party games being released is the best indicator every generation where Nintendo's priorities are. Additionally I am very bummed they haven't added N64, GB and GBA to the NSO.

Re: Dragon Quest XI Is Coming To The Nintendo 3DS And Nintendo NX

Back in the N64 era DK64 had the secret ending that was a tease to the next platform then codenamed Dolphin. That game came out in 99, which was 3 years into the N64 life's cycle and the codename was widely discussed by then, just like NX is now. The Gamecube debuted in 2000 and released in 2001. History repeats.
