Re: Satoru Iwata Admits The "Wii U Isn't In Good Shape" Ahead of Investor Briefing

marko

Nintendo please just focus on making the games for the next 3 years.
in those 3 years you can develop a new Metroid, Zelda and Star Fox.
Get those games released in amazing quality that with smash bros and mario kart and 3d worlds will get wii u's up to 15-20 million units... (and some heavy marketing ofcourse)
then you can move on to the next console

Re: Talking Point: Is There A Future For The Wii U Without The GamePad?

marko

Off TV play is amazing I have one TV at home with a wife who watches keeping up with the kardashians the wii u gamepad is my escape from terrible TV shows that my wife watches.
Its also a pretty descent web browser and secondary screen. I feel like there is untapped potential with the gamepad... the concept is good but the execution needed to be better..
I would love if it was thinner portable ... maybe the next nintendo handheld will include that option...
I think what could also help wii u is the resurgence of motion gaming using the controllers to show all the gaming posibitities.
the Gamepad is not the problem.

Re: Nintendo of America Offers Stock of Refurbished Wii U Deluxe Sets for $250

marko

@Burning_Spear
Your argument is valid, however the price is set by the supply demand curve.
clearly the market has determined that the console is not worth it at 249.99
Nintendo is not pushing out games fast enough to justify maintaining that price point. You have already manufactured and shipped the console and they are sitting on store shelves or even worse they are hidden in storage. They need to move units. Those that are waiting for smash bros/Zelda/Metroid/Fox to buy a wii u won't purchase one until probably Christmas 2014 or after with 0 3rd party support the system is DOA at 249.99 retailers won't push it. But at 199.99 people might be thinking wow I can get it at 199 and buy Super Mario 3d world etc.. you need to push units fast you need 3rd party support.

People won't like the wii u until they play it at home they won;t play it at home at 250.
you won't get 3rd party support unless u have units in homes.

Re: Feature: A Week of Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Screens - Issue Seventeen

marko

@linktothepichu
Yeah but on the wii u you can easily have the camera and microphone on the tablet controller you can easily trash talk your friends and do it all online.
Nintendo needs to embrace online So much untapped potential. I like playing with my friends locally too but not everyone has the time to go to your house and play, not only that but you can even make new friends online...
Anyway I just want the option.

Re: Feature: A Week of Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Screens - Issue Seventeen

marko

I have a bad feeling about this game I am the biggest smash bros fan, and I just feel like it won't be as good as it's predecessors. I hope they really work on online make it the game to really embrace multiplayer and online, but i feel like it won't be that game... I duno just give me melee in HD with an awesome online element. I duno call me cautiously optomistic...

Re: Analysts Weigh In With Estimates for Wii U Fiscal Year Sales

marko

Well this is optomistic if they reach 6 million considering that besides supermario3dworld there was no new fresh games to play, That and the bundles should have attracted a few buyers but i have a feeling we will be closer to 5, or 5.5 million. The Wii U was up against way to much competition for consumer spending. Maybe if the WiiU was 199 it would really move units.

I hope the Wii u sticks arround for 4 years enough time to get smash bros zelda an online Metroid would be great.
Give me an online FPS Metroid to take on COD and BF.
A real online multiplayer Brawl could move massive units. I wish they were not developing it for 3DS i feel like they should be making the WII U version the definitive version and focus all their resources on one game at a time...

Don't lose hope in WII U the road is long but Nintendo can do it!

Re: PS4 and Xbox One Surpass Wii U Lifetime Sales in the UK

marko

@stealth
Look at the price point of the ps4 vs wii u
nintendo spent more money on the gamepad and i am saying i would rather have better specs, they don't have to ditch motion control either. PS4 will be able to stream games to vita and be better than the gamepad all together and X1 will stream games to probably any windows tablet. We are being taken advantage of by Nintendo because we love their IPs and we the 4 million or so people that bought the wii u would buy any nintendo console just to play mario, zelda. (And I am pretty sure we would all trade our wii Us in a heartbeat for better Nintendo console without the gamepad. The Wii U was meant to target other gamers remember. For me the Wii U is a short term solution It won't have the longevity in the market that the competition will have Just like the Wii should have only been in the market for 4 or 5 years. in 2 or 3 years the Wii U will be so outdated and still no unique experiences. (Except for the software which we all would have bought anyway)

Re: PS4 and Xbox One Surpass Wii U Lifetime Sales in the UK

marko

This could have been avoided if Nintendo released a true next gen console not some weak console with 8 year old specs and a gimicky gamepad that Even Nintendo hasn't properly even used. that added cost for manufacturing a tablet controller I would happily trade for better specs. I have the wii U and im loving super mario 3d world great game. Imagine what Nintendo software would look like on a powerhouse Nintendo console, Something that would attract 3rd party support and not repel them, I would only have to buy one console. Alas that will never happen. Nintendo screwed up this console generation I would rather them abandon ship and build a new superior console. instead We all will wait for an HD Zelda which will come out on a system that will really be 10 years old by than. How embarassing.

Re: EA Germany Survey Fails To Acknowledge The Wii U

marko

Yeah EA basically released old games for a brand new console and priced them as if they were brand new. No surprise that they didn't sell any games. I honestly wanted need for speed but was not going to pay 60 bucks for it when i can get it on my ps3 used for like 15 dollars.
They are a lazy company and lack creativity big time.

Re: Review: Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)

marko

I WILL HAVE THIS GAME!!!!!!
CAN'T wait Have not been this excited for a mario game in YEARS!!
Now Nintendo you have the amazing reviews across the net market this game and the WII U!!

Re: Poll: As the PS4 Arrives, What Do You Think of the 'New Gen' Environment for Wii U?

marko

@2Sang
I agree I have a wii U and will buy a ps4 eventually if those Stats are any indication 1 in 3 wii U owners plans on buying a ps4. where as i highly doubt one in 3 ps4 owners will purchase a wii u...
the PS4 is a superior system and will have way more 3rd party and independent support. It can do everything wii U can do with Remote play, it has the PSeye which is better than motion plus controllers.
Only US MARIO AND ZELDA FANS buy a wii u.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Resilience Against Wii U Criticism Emphasizes Its Longevity

marko

First of all great article guys, as usual.
I appreciate you guys taking a non bias approach and being critical in a positive sense I often hope that those who can make positive changes at Nintendo look at these articles and the comments and try to make changes which will please the user base.
I don't have any problem with the wii u to be honest i think it's a fantastic system which can compete with the ps4 and X1 for at least 3 or 4 years. At which point it will be time to release a newer more powerful console from Nintendo which they have no doubt already begun developing. The reality is that the Wii stayed in the marketplace for maybe 1 or 2 years too many. Think about how old the tech was and it was really fading towards the end the time to release the Wii U was 2 years ago somewhere closer to the mid cycle of PS3 and Xbox. Nintendo needs to change they;re timing a bit to reflect their own console cycle. The Wii U has max a 4 year life span Nintendo needs to focus all their resources on differentiating the Wii U from the rest, create Amazing unique games which showcase the system. And market those games accordingly. then maybe in those 4 years they can sell 30 to 40 million consoles which would more or less salvage the horrific start that they have had. Nintendo can do it they have the creativity and the resources... I would be very happy if in 4 years they create a PS4 equivelent with a kinect camera and motion controls but they no doubt have some unique ideas over there in Japan

Re: Mamma Mia! The Mario & Luigi Wii U Bundle Is Sold Out At Target And GameStop

marko

wow the words wii u and sold out haven't been used at all since launch so the vollume isn't that pertinent at least it creates a state of demand in the consumer mind frame.
NSMBwu is actually a great game and being bundled with the system at 299 is almost an amazing deal so nintendo might be on to something... now they just need to relaunch the system with wii sports hd bundled in with mario before the holidays and maybe they can recapture that massive cassual market.
they have to pull out all the stops now

Re: Satoru Iwata Outlines Wii U Holiday Target Audience and Aim for a "Unique Approach"

marko

oh Nintendo you are such an underachiever...
imagine if you built me a console with true next gen graphics and your unique gameplay styles. I would only need to pay for one system..
sadly I will purchase a ps4 to sit next to my wii u... you build me a powerful system 3rd party support will come and i won't have to spend another 400 bucks on a ps4... I can spend that money on more 1st party games..
It bothers me that I will have to wait until 2014 and 2015 to play your best hardcore games by than the technology will be 8 or 9 years old...
you can do sooooo much better

Re: Poll: Is Nintendo's Wii U Advertising and Marketing Doing Enough?

marko

none of my friends know what the wii U is.
And I have had the console since launch day...
Nintendo marketing is so 1990 they need to catch up they are falling asleep.
the console it self is riduculed as a joke all the time with its gimmicky controllers and current gen graphics Nintendo Marketing is pathetic.
I wish I worked at nintendo I would change so much...

Re: Super Mario 3D World Producer Says DLC is Unlikely To Happen

marko

I am fine with no DLC Nintendo should move on to other projects instead of focusing on DLC. they should allocate their resources as best as possible to produce more full games.
It bothers me that their is no online play however Nintendo has so much untapped potential with Miiverse and Mario is a fantastic franchise to leverage that concept I don't always have friends over to play videogames none of my friends have wiiu why can't I make new friends online with other people who play wiiu.
why not have both online and local multiplayer. (i think they needed to remove it to finish the game on time to compete with ps4 and x1)
Maybe if they didn't focus on DLC for Pikmin we would have online for mario.

Re: Iwata: Wii Fit U's Free Trial Period Will Improve Wii U Sales Momentum

marko

@Turbo857
You are right about Marketing thats for sure.
Nintendo has been trying but failing to market the wii u.
There has been a lot more negative press about the wii u than positive.
Nintendo has an uphill battle to climb, between losing major 3rd party support long waits between first party releases and a system with older specs that won't be able to compete with ps4 and X1. Nintendo needs to figure something out fast! because they are setting themselves up for failure. if at the end of the next 5 years they only sell 20 to 30 million wii u consoles thats a failure!
Personaly despite buying a wii u I would be totally fine if Nintendo scrapped the whole thing and build a true next Gen console with with wii U gamepad compatiblitiy. I am truly sad for nintendo. I wish I ran the company...
Anyway on that note you seem like a smart person and I have no friends on miiverse! so if you wanna add me lol

Re: Iwata: Wii Fit U's Free Trial Period Will Improve Wii U Sales Momentum

marko

@Turbo857
Those clients that bought wii fit on wii. failed to get in shape they are casual gamers and the market has shifted they don't even know what the wii U is.
They spend all their time on their tablets and ipads and Nintendo missed the chance to target that audience.
the 3 million people who bought Wii U is a different market segment than those who would purchase Wii fit U.
Those casual gamers are probably going to go to wal-mart and see the new game on the shelf. They will think its just some other wii title and they will pass. And If they are interested they will she shocked when they hear its for another console and not the wii and they will be like well forget that not paying 300+ dollars...
I would love to be wrong about this but I know I am right.
(A lot of people I know who bought the wii and bought wii fit have no idea what this game or new console is and their balance boards are sitting on the floor forgotton)

Re: Iwata: Wii Fit U's Free Trial Period Will Improve Wii U Sales Momentum

marko

This game will increase sales by 0%
No one will purchase a wii u for 300 dollars to play wii fit u when a gym membership which actually gets you in shape costs the same.
No one who currently owns a wii U will keep playing this game for more than the one month trial because Mario is coming out.
I won't be playing this garbage title on my wii u I am waiting for Mario.
Nintendo is becoming such a joke... It's like they are trying to fail.
