Re: Metacritic Career Ratings Pit Aonuma Versus Miyamoto

lex0plex

Why would anyone loathe it? It is interesting for fans, and motivates developers to do their best work. Hopefully future game systems will have a smaller crap pile than the Wii does (don't get me wrong the Wii has some really great games, just too few)

Re: Review: Rayman 3D (3DS)

lex0plex

This game is very entertaining! The 3D effect is really cool especially in the flying segments and water skiing. I only have brushed the surface of this game, but I am so far extremely glad I settled on this for a launch title.

If you love 3D platforming like Mario, but with more open world-ish levels, you'll love this game. I also think the graphics are very, very good, but I haven't played any other 3DS game so I have nothing to compare it to except for normal DS games. Compared to DS games, the graphics are GORGEOUS!

I found no need to use the control pad as a camera, instead I stuck with the useful "R" button first person camera. It works very well.

The music has been absolutely amazing, the 3DS surround setting makes it seem like the music is coming from all around you. This, along with the great 3D makes for an extremely trippy experience

Picked it up for $39.99, and as one of the less expensive 3DS games, I have absolutely no regrets. Cannot wait to get home to continue playing it! So far it'd give it a 10/10! I cannot imagine giving it anything less, unless something goes wrong in the later levels...

Re: Nintendo Uncertain Whether 3DS Demos will be Worth the Effort

@Malkeor
Actually you bought up an interesting point about renting... I find the games that I downloaded on the wii were fun for a few days until I beat them, and then haven't played them since. Instead of demos, Nintendo should rent games out and make them inactive after a week. Cheaper games + more downloads + money from re downloads = more money and happy customers.

Of course a really good online multiplayer game or something with a lot of replay value would definitely get a purchase. Man, I remember when I used to rent gamecube games all the time then bought the ones I thought were the best. Now I have a little collection of 10 or so GC games that are like gold to me. This way I'll never have to buy a disappointment!

Come on rentals!

Re: Review: Shapo (DSiWare)

lex0plex

I hate to say this, but with so many simple puzzle games on DSi and iPhone and other such portable systems, it really is questionable why anyone would spend $5 on yet another meh puzzle game.

Enjoyed the review though. Shame about the music - I think music is really important if the gameplay isn't frantic and stimulating on it's own.

Re: Iwata Hits Out at Smartphone and Social Network Game Developers

lex0plex

Yeah, don't worry Iwata, cell phone games will never replace consol games. But you don't need to insult them. I fully support independent developers for iPhone and iPad and continue to play awesome video games for multiple home consols and computer. Theres no need to attempt to OWN the entire market. Where's the fun in that?

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life 3DS FAQ

lex0plex

I'm not sure if this was covered, but can you send (3D) pictures to each other over wifi? I didn't read anything about this in this article, but could have missed it.

Also, I wonder if the accelerometer will make it difficult to lay down and play...

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life 3DS FAQ

lex0plex

What if there was actually no 3D and NL and EVERYONE else is paid to "say" and act that there is a 3D screen? I mean, we can't see the screen on videos. This could be the biggest scam EVER! I'm still getting one on launch day. Already pre ordered it so it better not be!!! Haha, just imagine if it was though...

EDIT:
I like the comparison to the 360 and ps3 in terms of graphics. Can't wait to see them!!!

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

lex0plex

The graphics look absolutely amazing! I think it suits the loz universe perfectly

I hope all those in game controls cluttering up the sides of the screen are only there for demo purposes... cause they look very distracting and annoying

Re: Observe the Flow of Battle in Pokemon Black & White Video

lex0plex

@JayceJa
Invizimals did a pretty good job of creating 3D models for battling... I guess I was just expecting the game to be released for the 3DS which can handle that amount of detail. I forgot the DS has so limited graphic capabilities

@danschemen
I'm pretty sure that they had 3vs.3 pokemon battles in Pokemon: Gale of Darkness, but I could be wrong...

Re: First Impressions: Kid Icarus: Uprising

lex0plex

@Jon
Ok that doesn't sound so bad... I was thinking of the PSP claw hand for monster hunter where you have to control the circle pad with your thumb and the d-pad with your first finger. I was worried that the 3ds would have this issue as soon as I saw that there was a circle pad. But like I said, this really doesn't seem that bad - easy to get used to!

edit: the 3ds looks waaaay more comfy than this! ^

Re: First Impressions: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

lex0plex

@NintendoPurist87
man i hope not!!! how about some new games instead of just remaking all the old classics? please don't get into this habit, Nintendo
@Trumpet-Hero
exactly...
@armoredghor
I totally agree. I would have much preferred a new legend of zelda game at the 3DS's launch

Re: Why the 3DS Will Not Use an Achievement System

lex0plex

I think achievements make gaming more competitive and encourages gamers to be more self centred (and to show off). That, along with permissive style parenting, is making the younger generation more ego-centric than ever. It's a bad trend...

Re: Nintendo Praises Sony and Microsoft's Contributions to Gaming Industry

lex0plex

PS3 and 360 = isolated gaming. Nintendo = social gaming. Each to his/her own. I barely ever play games by myself. I don't see how its very fun if you have no one to compete with or talk to. Even games like Goldeneye and Mario Galaxy, I wait until one of my roommates are home so they can watch me get my kicked. It's much more fun that way

Re: Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I (Wii)

lex0plex

The problem: The game was based off the movie, not the book. Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, under development in 2000, was (to my knowledge) the only game released before the movie in 2001 and the only good Harry Potter game. Check it out if you don't mind the dated graphics. It is very fun with hundreds of secrets - very addicting to try and find them all Not many people know about the game so I wanted to spread the knowledge.

Re: Sakurai Gives Tips on Optimum Conditions When Playing 3DS

lex0plex

Hmm, I believe that the actual 3DS will look different than I pictured. I thought that the visuals would be popping out no mater what angle you look at it (like a hologram). I guess that was too far fetched. I feel like this system will be the kind of disappointment that I got from looking at 3D TVs... the 3D just isn't as good as you think its going to be.
