Re: Sakurai Yet to Start Work on Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS

jerryo

@10.

Mully that is exactly what happened. I think they couldn't believe the price of Vita would be same as 3DS nor that it would be able to offer something similar to the wiiU controller as a feature set. while yes it is not exactly the same it does offer pretty much the same as far as games are concerned. So they started making up exciting news on the spot. Kind of.

Re: Nintendo has no Desire to be Number One in Online Gaming

jerryo

"the leap that the 3DS has taken over its respective predecessor"

well as far as online goes i've yet not seen any such leap. a nice update of online functionality is there, but nothing ground breaking or something they shouldn't have done many years back.

Re: Sony: Wii U is No Threat, Says "Welcome to 2006, Nintendo"

jerryo

it's ok guys.. they are trying to motivate themselves on the steep uphill road to catch up with nintendo sales! ;D it's ok, let's be the better people wii are and let them do that.. in fact we should help too! they desperately need a hand.. let's all do the facepalm thing..

Re: Wii U Striking Balance Between Performance and Price

jerryo

guys this console ain't going for less than 350! if it does it will make history!

btw, even last years ati card, is MUCH better than 5 year old tech. when some people complain about the tech being "only" directX 10.1 equivalent tech, i don't think they realise the large performance difference between 10 and 9. the only reason 10 "failed" is because vista was a crappy OS and the amount of people using vista was tiny and still is compared to the amount of win7 and xp users. That is the only reason why we didn't see even more dx10 games. ofc it makes sense for shigeru to say that. because visually things can't really be pushed much more than what dx10-11 offers. so yeah, in that sense do not expect 50% more.. that would be WAY too much. but don't underestimate the capabilities either.

even the new consoles of the competitors in 2 years won't be dramatically better than what we see today. they will at best be dx11 equivalent, which is not really that much far off.. apart from shadow calculations.

Re: Review: Pokédex 3D (3DSWare)

jerryo

every day i get a new one just by being online this and DoA with their new downloadable costumes and challenges make my day every day the last week!

Re: First Impressions: Nintendo Wii U

jerryo

yeah i think the name should be just U.

it could be interpreted and used in many ways. and make it more personal. but i guess they also didn't want to lose the wii brand name. the console and the controller appear to be stellar in power and conception, (i believe that sony added the console connection feature the last months going after the rumours for the "wii2" and trying to beat nintendo to it)

What is the most important now is the games and features at launch! real games and features at launch, not what they did to us with 3DS. i will never forgive them for this! unless; they make something amazing for us at launch! Chat and video conference a'la skype for free between friends is a MUST! (kinect allows you to do that already!!)

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS)

jerryo

"Windwaker and Minish Cap"

that is all. Ocarina was a huge game a great first! but i feel that the above mentioned games made a huge positive refreshing difference!

Especially Minish Cap with its amazing gameplay mechanics! i wish they remake it in 3D!!!! it would be so awesome!

i understand it is very hard for anyone to give anything less than 9 to this game.. for the fear of hardcore fans alone.. but seriously.. even on the video the frame rate was droping. especially when i see someone saying "honestly" before he starts saying something... also the improved textures.. well in many places they didn't seem so much improved to me.

this game is a must buy for all those who have not played the original or the later versions.. and the control improvements alone are a reason for someone who has played them all before to give it a go considering the lack of any serious hack and slash adventures... but... please ftlog no more remakes of ocarina.

Re: Regional eShops Will Continue to Offer Different Content

jerryo

" just knowing how Nintendo is giving theirselve way too much credit for it and don't realise they're too slow makes me wanna lose all the hopes for it."

this is indeed something that is concerning for the online services of wiiU as well. nintendo is absolutely crap when it comes to online stuff. i see quite a few are happy with the last update.. i am very disappointed..
Do not forget. these are the same people that some years back were saying that online is overestimated...

especially the browser is very disappointing. and i will mention it in every post until it gains momentum and maybe nintendo revisits the browser and does something good with it! Opera mini was SO much better than this poc.

Re: Regional eShops Will Continue to Offer Different Content

jerryo

i have a US system, and i can tell you the only video you really should care not watching is Luigi's Mansion 2. the rest are not really that much different in 3D. also you are better off without them as most have very low sound volume. especially the Green Lantern trailer..

Re: Nintendo Taking "Massive Leap" with Wii U's Online Set-Up

jerryo

"Massive Leap" compared to wii and ds? or compared to xbox live?

3DS already has some pretty cool online functionality. DoA is a very good example of taking advantage of 3DS online features they are doing some pretty cool stuff. But Nintendo has not yet convinced me that they understand what it takes to be successfully online. i.e. the browser is pathetic. Street fighter had slight lag issues and so does DoA.

Re: Wii U Games Using Two New Controllers Being Considered

jerryo

well i guess the system will come with one controller anyway.

it's up to the users if they want to shell the extra money for a second one.
There will definitely be a lot more unique gameplay options there with 2 controllers. There might be some additional cost because they m9ight need some more powerful hardware in order to stream graphics for 2 controllers. But not really that much more i would think.

there definitely are a lot of points that need clarification. i guess we will need to wait for a few more months. there is more than a year ahead of us before this actually comes out. let them do their thing. the more we don't bother with it, the cheaper and better it will be when it comes out in order to catch our attention!

Re: Wii U Touch Screen is Resistive, Not Capacitive

jerryo

i think multitouch is very important, ipad also shows clearly that capacitive doesn't hinder your creativity at all. Wacom also has created special pen for ipad. it costs just $30 and it makes a huge difference for artists. but anyway this is great too. i don't really feel restricted by DS screen, especially DSiXL. so i think all this about capacitive versus resistive is primarily a lot of marketing talk.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo's Complete Press Release

jerryo

rjejr there is a lot of action. and yes some blood. i dunno if you watched the presentation, but there were lots of wii style games and demos and classic nintendo happy party funny game suggestions there. the spirit of wii of course lives on. it was a great success how could they possibly deny it!

Only their marketing will focus a bit more on hardcore games for a while i suppose. there is a respectable amount of people that needs to feel a nice warm hug (in a manly way!! ) and a huge welcome back to the big nintendo family! i feel great that in the future I will be able to play all sorts of games on my console and not only the typical games we are used to play on wii. i miss this!

Re: Reaction: Nintendo's Complete Press Release

jerryo

this conference was about their plans of moving forward and exciting us even more with genuine nintendo style innovation.

not how they are going to address the past. and that is what made this a very important conference for me. the wii is living its last and will live on through wiiU. However it is history. DS will be around for at least another year i feel. At least until 3DS builds a solid user base. DS is still the most widely adopted platform out there.

Re: Sony President Thinks 3DS is Just an Updated DS

jerryo

hmm a bit late for the show
but yeah 3DS IS a new, greatly improved, offering for the DS family of products. That is why DS was not called Gameboy DS. how did that make news in the first place??

It is like saying PS3 is just an update of the PS1 they belong to the same family of products. it's as simple as that. but what it offers is a lot more than improved graphics and menu like PS3 did for PS2. it offers a truly different experience while maintaining the good things that DS had.

I wish they had not made the choice of making the lower screen smaller though.

Re: Ubisoft Expects 3DS to Take Off this Christmas

jerryo

it all depends on what games and price NGP will come out with.

Definitely by holiday season 3DS will have a very solid lineup! As for Ubi's games.. I think people are a bit unfair! Ghost Recon is an awesome game if you have not played it it's your loss, unless you don't like turn based strategy! Driver seems very promising too.

Those saying that their games are crap should i assume that they have never played splinter cell, assasin's creed, prince of persia, ghost recon, rainbow six, call of juarez, might and magic (awesome on DS), etc? (and many other games like raving rabbids etc. which i won't mention) The fact that most of these games couldn't come successfully on nintendo hardware is not their fault. blame hardware limitations primarily. If you don't like these games do not say they are crap.

YES they brought out a lot of shovelware out there for wii and DS like the imagine series, and many crappy ports, it is true... but so did everybody else and then blamed nintendo for not selling XD. At least they don't blame nintendo for not being able to sell their crap. They are more honest!

Re: Review: LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (3DS)

jerryo

it's a nice game buy it when you run out of games to buy, i was somehow impressed with the quality of graphics, combat and 3d and instantly my appetite for action RPGs on 3DS grew stronger! More and more i am convinced that 3DS is the perect platform for such games!

it's a 7 but a good one!

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Have Made the 3DS Download-only?

jerryo

eventually that is how it is going to. digital download.
i am not sure if nintendo made a mistake, that depends on how their e-shop is going to be and how their relationships with developers will shape over time. But in any case 3DS like DSi offers options for both, downloadable and cartridge games so that is good.

I don't know or care what Iwata says, or more appropriately "believes" he has also said that people do not care about multiplayer or online connectivity during the classic DSDS lite days, and their strategy unfortunately STILL reflects this. Even DSi and 3DS offer very little for online connectivity and too restricted compared to what phones or other devices offer for example. Lets hope they do an 180 on the 6th, but it is highly unlikely. Having a browser is not enough. Pictochat was stupid because it was offline. THEY SHOULD make pictochat online for your confirmed friends and enable voip.

Anyway back to the games,
for collectors there will be limited numbered editions like what capcom does for the 1000 umbrella cases you can receive for pre-ordering Mercenaries.

for those thinking that they don't own a smartphone and they enjoy being like that.(i am one of you too) well that is great and respectable choice but.. look around you. and if you were a company look at the sales of digital distribution versus physical.

finally i do not like the cartridges that much.they're ok as long as they have a great game inside but i hate having my pockets full with them i would prefer to download most games and have a collector's edition version for the games that i REALLY like on cartridge as a badge of honour

Re: Are We Nearing the End of Consoles? Nintendo Thinks Not

jerryo

Well they might not die right now.. but wii2 and the next consoles from ms and sony will absolutely be the last generation of home consoles as we know them.

They are going to die because the dream of a traditional home console is to become what a PC is in a more convenient, living room form, and Tablets beat them to it. Quite profoundly too! Thank god nintendo did an evasive manoeuvre with the wii

One needs a blog to expand on such a thing but it is true. Only if you are short-sighted and you think that by saying "near" they mean next year you believe otherwise. But lets come to this same topic in 4-5 years and continue the discussion

Nintendo thinks not, but nintendo is the only one which is more aggressively and successfully altering the definition of a handheld and home console while trying to remain relevant. They just say no, so they don't put themselves out of the race. There was never such variety of games in themes, genres, platforms and features. From 3D to AR to traditional, casual, FB, you name it.

Enjoy! Great times for games and gamers are coming!

Re: Nintendo Announces eShop Update for 6th June

jerryo

A. it is impossible to get a virus on your DS since they are targeted towards windows OS and your DS ain't it.

" If this wait means the online store is actually enjoyable to use"

let's say it is "enjoyable to use" so what? point is what games will be there. i don't care about "enjoyable" eshops

and finally they better pack something cool, and i guess they do because they planned pre-E3 launch, so that means they have some cool stuff to show! they better have proper video player, facebook upload facility for the photos, AND THE FRIGGIN ALARM CLOCK!!!!
