Re: PS4 and Xbox One Surpass Wii U Lifetime Sales in the UK

globalisateur

@I-AM-REGGIE @Marre35 But it has the definitive version of BF4, COD, AC4, FIFA, NBA, just look at the attach rate of COD of BF4 or AC4.

NA: cod 7/10 attach rate, BF4 4/10, AC4 4/10.

So Even if those games aren't labelled "exclusive", there are still "best version of games" for players. Apparently some gamers just want to play "games" and not "One great exclusive every 2 years"

Who would want to buy a multiplats Wii U when they know it runs on average worse than a 8 years old machine and already didn't have some multiplats and in the future would have even less multiplats? In the future: Titanfall, Destiny, The Division, Watchdogs, GTA6. All those games whether won't be on Wii U or will be but will be the worse version.

Re: PS4 and Xbox One Surpass Wii U Lifetime Sales in the UK

globalisateur

Don't forget that the Wii U won't have many multiplats in the future. Already Some multiplats are missing on Wii U.

And for AC4 for instance, some people would prefer play it on X1/PS4 for better res and framerate. WiiU@720p25fps VS PS4@1080p30fps locked. I heard AC4 on PS4 (or X1) is gloriously beautiful and smooth. People are very happy everywhere with their PS4 (or X1), even with titles like Knack or Killzone.
And great surprising indies that won't be on WiiU (for instance Resogun).

WiiU may have Mario 3D. But that's just one game. similar to Mario Galaxy with the Wii. People have been burned by the Wii, they don't want to do the same mistake with WiiU. And PS3 had its great exclusives too. you want to drive some great AAA racing game? not possible on WiiU. Sony still release great games on PS3 still now. TLOU, Beyond, GT6 this year.

People have confidence in Sony because delivered and are still releasing titles for PS3.

Well you can see I have been disappointed by the Wii and its false promises. I Will buy a WiiU with mario (because it is still my favorite franchise), but later when it will be cheaper.

And finally the whole Wii U slow interface, OS, lack of unified account really sucks. People on PS4 are installing and playing games in 35 sec, everything is super fast, vocal commands, background update/install, install & update games automatically while on standby by awakening the PS4 if update needed, share feature etc. the whole next gen experience is better on all fronts.

Well, hand holding was horrible in Skyward Sword.

The problem is that you can't avoid it, it is forced. you are guided (by cinematics, texts or else...) 50% of your play time (at least at the beginning of the game). It is more a cinematic experience or 'A' button Hack&Slash game than a real time action/adventure zelda game. At least it is the impression it gave me.

It forced me to stop playing Skyward Sword. Really not a fun experience. I am relieved to see I am not the only one in this case.

Re: Feature: Five Reasons Why The 2DS Will Be The Biggest Selling Handheld This Christmas

globalisateur

Well. I at least agree on 2 points you made: "It's for kids", "more choice means more sales"

But I strongly disagree with the others 3: (IMHO)

"It's cheap". It's not. It is cheaper than a 3DS but it is still expensive for the piece of sh** they dare to sell us (no 3D, worse LCD than original 3DS, worse audio, same autonomy as first 3DS in 2D mode).
"It's smaller than you think". I can even put A 3DS XL on my Jeans back pocket. Can you do it with a 2DS? It has maybe less volume but it is BIGGER than a 3DS XL for my pants.
"One Word, Pokemon". But Pokemon is for regular 3DS also. And the fights are STILL displayed in steroscopic 3D so the 2DS version will lack that feature.

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo 2DS

globalisateur

"The lack of 3D display is slightly detrimental to certain games, such as Super Mario 3D Land" (best seller game on 3DS)
"but its sound quality loses a dimension as well"
"It’s unfortunate to see that a newer and improved battery wasn’t installed this time around"
"the one area where the 2DS is lacking is its D-Pad"

After those statements how can you arrive at this conclusion?
"The 2DS is a great introductory model for anyone who has yet to pick up a 3DS, but it’s a difficult purchase to suggest for early adopters."

REALLY? a Great model? But you don't advise to buy it?
If you advise not to buy it you could honestly say that it is the worst 3DS model and not "it's great!....but don't buy it..."

Re: EA Executive: Shigeru Miyamoto is 'Falling Down on the Job'

What I found the most sad about Sticker Star is that the first version of the game was very much a similar game (but not a remake mind you) of the gamecube masterpiece: The Thousand Year Door.

And Miyamoto tested the game and told the developers that it was too similar to this gem.

So they basically remade the whole game and 2 years later we have this empy shell which is Sticker Star.

I mean, Miyamoto, who just produces remakes after remakes or very similar games (new super mario serie, Pikmin 1 & 2 & 3, Zelda a link between world, Zelda Wind Waker WiiU etc.) doesn't allow others to do the same?

Re: Review: Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (Nintendo 64)

globalisateur

I agree with some of those comments.
This game deserves more than a 5.

The weapons, atmosphere, tough difficulty, exploration of the levels with tons of secrets and great controls once used to would give this a 7 or 8 out of ten.
Turok 2 was even better on almost all those elements with almost no fog and ran on impressive high resolution (640/480 I think) thanks to the memory pak. A memorable non-linear adventure kind of Metroidvania like and always lot of hidden places & secrets to find.

Re: Round Table: Let's Talk About the Famicom / NES

@DRL That's right! I didn't notice the second page of the article...

I have maybe 4 or 5 complete boxed (used don't get too excited) copies of this game. I know, it's weird.

One of the most underrated game of all times! Well, along with Toy Commander on Dreamcast.

Re: Review: Metroid (Wii U eShop / NES)

globalisateur

This game really hasn't aged well.
Much prefered Metroid Zero Mission (and Fusion) on GBA.
I think this is a 8/10 only with nostalgic eyes otherwise 6/10 for any newcomers of the serie compared to the 9/10 for both Zero Mission and Fusion.

Re: Talking Point: It's Time for Nintendo to Drop Region Locking

globalisateur

This article makes sense. Why did Nintendo add region locking to 3DS? I can't play my US retail copy of Nano Assault.
Could someone explain to me one serious benefit of region locking?

Back in the day I remember I was forced to spend money on some converter (AD 29) on my SNES to play Street fighter 2 before its european release.
Same with Goldeneye US played on a PAL N64 (with another expensive converter).

Does Nintendo understand that with the money I spent on those converters , I could have (and I certainly would) bought other games (probably from Nintendo) instead?

Re: Iwata: We Are To Blame For Poor Wii U Sales

globalisateur

Well I think he is wrong if he thinks it's only due to poor marketing effort. And they already have a game that perfectly suits the gamepad: Nintendoland.
Maybe it's also because of the hardware? at least a little?
But he would never recognize that of course. They will in 7 years when the wii U sucessor will come out. Even Sony recogized recently that their PS3 was too complicated to code for.
Why would the developers release their next game on the Wii u when they know it's now the most difficult system (among ps4 & xbone) and its CPU is weaker than old gen?

Re: Waiting For Wii U To Drop In Price? Not Going To Happen, Says Nintendo

globalisateur

I am not sure people will rush to play mario kart Wii U. Personnaly I have mario kart on gamecube and wii if I want to have some mario kart fun with some friends. Myamoto already told us. Don't change a working formula (talking about mario kart 7).
So I don't expect mario kart 8 be fundamentally different (gameplay wise) that double dash or mario kart 7.
Nintendo needs an ambitious and technically impressive game similar to mario 64 or Ocarina of time. Thoses games had the magic Nintendo touch but also were a treat visually (they really pushed N64 hardware) and were ambitious, big in scope for their time.
For instance when we were riding with Epona on Hyrule's field, we could literaly see almost all the 'maps' of the world and go wherever we could see. The world was big. X is this kind of game.

Re: CNN Money: Nintendo Is "Tone Deaf" To Industry Trends And Has "Lost Touch With Reality"

globalisateur

I don't want Nintendo to lose their magic.
All those critics in CNN's article are wrong. They don't understand all the important stuff in gaming. But:
Nintendo could implement some kind of account system similar to Steam; it would make thing simpler than their hardware based account. Really this console based account is an abomination of the past, it should'nt even exist in 2013.
This is for me the real reason why I don't massively buy Nintendo games digitally.
