Re: Soapbox: 'Vintage' Used Game Prices Do Nothing to Encourage Customer Loyalty

gamecubefan

In this day and age I don't buy at all that "the gaming community needs a game specialty store"

The ONLY argument for that is that people are more often to be told at Gamestop vs. Bestbuy/Walmart/etc. "don't buy that game it sucks, here try this one" but this is the day and age of the internet, the internet opinion, and the internet storefront. There is truly no need for Gamestop by the "gaming community"

I used to shop there solely for my games, and would use them to sell old games and do trades. Cannot count the number of times I was in there and heard comments/sneers against Nintendo. That's the thing I couldn't stand the most.

We can do without the insults. -Lz

On top of that, I had 2 different pre-order promotion "prizes" that were never received. I know for a fact the workers at Gamestop took them for themselves and probably sold them on EBAY. They thought I was just some dumb Nintendo buyer that wouldn't even remember the pre-order incentive so they kept them for themselves.

Nope, I appreciate all you guys' arguments... but i will CONTINUE TO BOYCOTT GAMESTOP

Re: LulzSec Members Who Hacked Nintendo Plead Guilty To Charges

Anonymous is not one person and is definitely not an intelligent hacker, for starters. And anonymous hardly does "all good." you'd be wise to look more into that buddy. Anonymous is also purely emotionally driven, which is very scary. Anonymous tries to the work that is better left to experts with real intelligence and moxie.

Re: LulzSec Members Who Hacked Nintendo Plead Guilty To Charges

gamecubefan

sorry but hackers do NOT look like that. hackers are the biggest losers on the planet, have never had a friend of the opposite (or same most likely, which they would prefer lol) sex in their life, and are quite simply the saddest losers in the modern world.

as someone else stated, hackers only cause gov'ts to exert more control over the internet (which was supposed to be free)

hackers will constantly try to say they do things for this good and that. but it is just plain stupid to think hacking does anything to help the cause of keeping the internet free

Re: Nintendo Comes Out On Top In Consumer Experience Poll

gamecubefan

I also scratched a WiiShop Points card too strongly and could not read the numbers. Called Nintendo and, although they did make me send them a scanned picture of my scratched card, were very helpful and ended up refunding the value of the card.

Funny that I'm the third person in here to do this. You really don't have to scratch too hard to make the numbers disappear so be careful whenever you do

Re: Picked Up A Pre-Owned Wii U Console? You Could Have Access To Free Downloads

gamecubefan

Nintendo is just setting themselves up for a future catastrophe by not going ahead and solving this issue. Think one or two consoles down the road.... how is Nintendo going to ensure a customer can still access all their downloaded games over time? This is exactly why I transferred all my downloads to my WiiU. I am trying to keep all my VirtualConsole/Wiiware/eshop downloads on the same console so that I will always have them. Because I see this becoming a huge headache down the road if you have some of your downloads still on your Wiiware account, some on your 3ds eshop account, some on your WiiU Nintendo "eshop" ID account etc.

Nintendo did good by integrating the "eshop" into one shop. Now they need to solve this ID problem before it continues to snowball.

Re: GameStop Sales of Wii U Are Reportedly "Slightly Disappointing"

gamecubefan

I can back up the poster above who thinks Gamestop is sketchy when it comes to buying "new" items. Often "new" products you buy from them will have already been opened. Its ridiculous and should be illegal.

When I bought a "new" copy of Skyward Sword that was not wrapped in plastic and was missing the ClubNintendo insert it was the last straw. Never again have I bought from Gamestop and never again will I. I also tell everyone I know these things so as to get them to shop at Bestbuy/Walmart/etc. ONLY for video games. DO NOT BUY FROM GAMESTOP.

Also, twice had to call over and over and demand they get me my pre-order incentive bonus. I am about 99% certain this is because the Gamestop employees like to keep their customers' pre-order bonus items for themselves. I have heard other people on here say the same thing... that they never got their pre-order Gamestop bonus. The employees there must think nobody knows about/cares about the pre-order gifts so they can just take them themselves and go sell on ebay.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Digital Pricing

gamecubefan

Downloadable is obviously the future so I figure I might as well get used to it ASAP. I like the fact that Nintendo allows you to transfer your previous purchases from system to new system, so I never have to worry about losing the cartridge to this game. Nintendo has already allowed you to carry over your online purchases on every system so it will be the same with NSMB2.

Basically, buying digital assures you this game for life as long as NIntendo Inc exists

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Digital Pricing

gamecubefan

I'm in North America. I am going with the digital download because I am a ClubNintendo member. I don't think I will buy a 3dsXL, and I don't buy games as much anymore. So I need the coins to reach Platinum this upcoming year (even though the recent Platinum reward "choices" really bummed me out this year.... hoping these playing cards are actually fine quality, as the club.nintendo reward has gone downhill since the Mario & friends statue)

IMO, stores that sell video games have to be scared about the imminent move to digital. Gamestop really needs to up the price they pay for used games, thus they can build up bigger used library as well.

Re: 3DS Sales Momentum in U.S. and Europe is 'Not so Good'

gamecubefan

New Super Mario 2 and 3ds XL is going to really help the 3DS in America. Typically the side-scrolling Mario games move many more copies than Galaxy or 3d Land in the states. People here love their classic side-scrolling Mario. I think it will be an especially big seller here due to the coin-collecting-heaviness

Re: Feature: Three Reasons Why Mario's Next Adventure Should Visit Subcon

gamecubefan

Super Mario Bros. 4 is going to be a WiiU release BOOKIT. Just imagine how many WiiU's the true successor to SMB3 would sell.

They are going to reserve the "new super mario bros." series for 3ds/their handhelds. That is why they are calling the new 3ds one "2." Because technically it's the 3rd if you think of the wii release

I think this makes the most sense and

Re: Jason Rohrer's Diamond Trust on DS Finally Approved

gamecubefan

Nintendo needs to stop trying to control content released on its systems as far as vulgarity and adult content goes. There is a game rating system for PARENTS to follow for a reason, Nintendo does not need to deny great games and great ideas..... don't they realize how many Nintendo diehard-type-fans are mature adults?

It's freaking 2012. Nintendo will continue to suffer financially if they keep it up. This is the biggest thing holding them back with hardcore gamers IMO. Remember reading an article on here a few months ago about how Nintendo had denied some game due to its vulgarity.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Banks on Its Old Money Makers

gamecubefan

I also think they are going to reserve New Super Mario Bros. series for 3ds/their handhelds.

And then WiiU will have Super Mario Bros. 4 at launch.

Actually I will almost put money on that. New 3d Mario game will be a couple years away as it is going to take A LOT to even try to top Galaxy. A return to Mushroom Kingdom would be sweet. A free-roaming adventures without levels.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Banks on Its Old Money Makers

gamecubefan

New Super Mario Bros. 2 announcement was not surprising at all. And it will be a HUGE seller just like the first. Let's face it, Mario3DLand took more talent/time/money to make, is the much better game, yet NSMB2 will crush it in sales.

Nintendo had a bad year because the last 4-5 years they have had amazing years. Not worried about a major loss. I do, however, think the WiiU is going to be rushed. Worried about that.

We all wish Nintendo could just do what Miyamoto and the diehards want but MONEY is everything

Re: Talking Point: Is Nintendo Over-Reliant on Super Mario?

gamecubefan

you can run off to the left or right to exit the level at any point, run for days north and get to the ice world/snow levels. run for days the other way and get to desert, keep running and get to beach and water levels. Levels are life-size and you can enter at any section but there is some reason installed in the gaming that encourages the player to "start from the begging of the level section"

Re: Talking Point: Is Nintendo Over-Reliant on Super Mario?

gamecubefan

WiiU will have a true successor to Mario64... in that it will all take place IN THE MUSHROOM KINGDOM. Not Isle Delfino, not Space.... but THE MUSHROOM KINGDOM.

Mario 64 through Mario Galaxy 2 are still easily the best 3d platforming games of all time for their respective time periods. i'd say there is a few more installments of the "old formula" left in the tank.

then start to get creative. how about a super-realistic mario adventure around the mushroom kingdom where it is just one big world, no "levels" or "map screens" basically you run around and can jump into a tube or just jump into a level at any point you wish as everything is one size only.

Re: Talking Point: Is Wii U's Power Really That Important?

gamecubefan

I think we are about to be blown away by a Metroid first-person WiiU remote, EPIC HD graphics/cutscenes

ETCETCETC. Metroid is just due. Other M was kinda an offshoot and not that memorable IMHO. Metroid Prime is really the last real Metroid effort.

Also looking for a crazy Mario-type game (side-game) to come out before the true successor to the Mario Galaxy duology comes out.

Re: Review: 101 Pinball World (DSiWare)

gamecubefan

seems like a lot of pure crap games being thrown out onto dsi and wiiware. glad that 3ds/wiiu is a bit more selective (or at least i hope they will be). i hate that all these worthless games take up room in the virtual shops. clutter up menus

Re: Kid Icarus's 3DS Stand Coming to North America Too

gamecubefan

this is a great idea btw. ironic that i just turned on my 3ds, then had to lay it down flat in front of my comp and wished i already had such a device, as i opened this article. also psyched for the right analog 3ds add-on. thing it will make the 3ds more comfortable to hold for long periods. especially for those with bigger hands

Re: Feature: Remembering the Super Game Boy

gamecubefan

obviously with this new crazy in downloadable games and every analyst predicting a switch over to purely digital content/software titles i think it's only a matter of time before nintendo releases all the great classics in it's online shops

Re: Two More Super Mario 3D Land Trailers for You

gamecubefan

kinda like that they are going for more gimmicks than pure control-based play. because i don't like holding 3ds for long periods. i'm actually looking forward to the right-joystick-add-on purely because i think it will be more comfortable. i find 3ds too small.
