Re: Monster Hunter-Style Free-To-Slay 'Dauntless' Is Shutting Down

@Wilforce Pretty much true. I came back after a break to find all my weapons gone (and turned into mere skins) after spending hundreds of hours grinding to max level most weapon types.

Similar thing happened with armor pieces. They got rid of the Lanterns (accessories that gave you passive and activated abilities) which was integral to my build.
Swords had a really cool combo system, after the update the system is still there, but the combos were replaced with new ones that are strictly worse in every possible metric.
Cells (items to slot into weapons and armor to give you extra abilities/effects) got redone, my build was non-existent anymore because most of the effects/abilities I had are either gone or replaced with something completely different.
And so on, and so forth.

I understand they wanted to revitalise the game, but whoever thought the way of doing that was destroying the hundreds of hours of obtained gear, unlocked abilities, experimenting with builds, etc. for every player, deserves to get fired. What a monumentally dumb decision.

I really love the original CC, the atmosphere, the mystery, the shared adventure with friends, etc.
If they made a new game in that same vein, but expanding on what made the original so fun, I'd be in for it.

A few examples would be:

  • Proper couch coop
  • Online drop in/out coop would be fine for when you didn't want/couldn't gather a group.
  • Enhanced combat mechanics/gameplay.
  • More weapons/armors with unique effects.
  • More involved towns (being able to go inside buildings, shops, etc.
  • Improved exploration (like moving around the world map would consume resources, food & water for example, that you'd buy in towns, and could, then, while in the world map, set up camp, showing your characters around a fire, and you could play minigames against each other, or just immerse yourselves in the camping scene itself)
Just a few ideas that I would personally like.
