Played it quite recently, but didn't finish. The "infection meter" mechanic is really annoying. In game that should be focused on exploration and combat gauntlets, you need to move quickly between save points. Furthermore, placement of enemies is rather punishing for no good reason.
If the infection meter could be disabled, the game would be twice as fun.
By the time yesterday I've noticed Silksong is out, the Nintendo store was smooth as a butter (around 6 PM CET). Normally, I wait years before I buy a new release, but Silksong was immediate buy, thanks Team Cherry for the wonderful price.
@Diogmites yeah, right? The plot is completely sidetracked for at least half of the game (at least until you deal with Federica). Good 50% of the world map is completely optional, but it is so easy to get distracted and exploring. And I found the new characters to be less compeling than the ones from previous games, which didn't help either.
But the last quarter of the game is really worth it imo. And the ending was less depressing than Ryza 1 (for me at least).
@JohnnyMind Depending on your playstyle (and time constraints), you might want to consider starting with first Ryza game. It has no timed events (=less stress) and it can be beaten in like 24 hours, whereas Ryza 2 and 3 went well over 50 hours (casual completion).
Trailer for this features some open-world mechanics from Ryza 3 so my bet is on a game at least as long as Ryza 3.
As a long time fan of Resident Evil franchise - I enjoyed WtRC better than first episode of this show. I am not even sure I want to watch the rest of it.
Honestly the only thing I wanted to know about this game was how much it suffers in performance/graphics department in comparison to other versions and instead we got list of things modern players might dislike in classic survival horror.
@Ultimapunch if I am not mistaken, the NSO games are downloaded on your machine, thus so anybody can create a mod for the Switch to bypass subscription checks for installed games (and Nintendo will hunt them down like crazy).
Waiting for discount on both games. I really want to play them but not for these prices. Still I would expect higher numbers for Blue Reflection, I've seen a lot of praise for that game...
@PBandSmelly You're close. In fact it's an urban fantasy game, with small emphasis on combat and big emphasis on diplomacy and deep economy mechanics. The game would be a big hit in Russia as it would allow you to roleplay as a worker class character, with win condition being merging EA with Activision and achieving shared ownership of workers over this supercompany.
@BloodNinja SA-X is the Samus clone. There was this one point where she happens to be in the same room as you and detonates a Power bomb to break some wall, and you have to outrun the blast. I guess that was sorta memorable.
I don't really agree that Fusion is better starting point than Zero Mission. ZM doesn't have much story to go with, while Fusion might overwhelm new players with information.
The controls also always felt snappier and more responsive with ZM to me. Fusion is way tougher game not only because overall difficulty but also due to to more stiff controls.
And finally - there are like three heavily scripted moments with SA-X in the whole game. They are memorable if you played the game when being a kind, nothing more.
It is like this outcry with Resident Evil 3: Remake that Nemesis was more cunning in the original. In reality it was scripted moreless in the same way, it's just nobody remembers that nowadays.
Definitely better that the predecessor. I still have issues with the combat itself, however this time it is way easier to just avoid enemies altogether. Solid story, great mechanic with jumping between Overworld and Breach and also - every metroidvania needs to have fast travel as a mid-game upgrade.
I am stuck on Doctor Who: Lonely Aassasins, finished 12 Minutes on Xbox and I'm planning to (finally) get into Hades. And if there's any spare time, I've got Axiom Verge 2 to play as well...
@Ralizah temporary dip wouldn't be an issue but if an area is generally more demanding on graphics so the dip is always present on a particular spot, then you have a problem.
Namely, with the steam pressure puzzle, when I used the worst graphics quality, I could not read the dial so I didn't know what is the target spot.
@Ralizah I played on M$ Surface tablet, which is indeed a stupid decision, but it made me go to graphics settings. Because of that I found out that the game allows you to tone down texture quality so much that some of the puzzles are unsolvable (like the rotating key or steam pressure puzzle).
If the devs opt for dynamic resolution, popular choice for optimizing many Switch titles, there is a risk of some puzzles being hard to beat because you can't read some enviromental que. This issue can potentially be even more pronounced when played in handheld.
@Specter_of-the_OLED They use the NS logo in the teaser and on their webpage. I hope they wouldn't do it if they weren't yet decided whether they want to do it or not.
@Ralizah Tried the demo when it launched on Steam. It is actually way closer to first Silent Hill than RE (audio cues, musical themes, mirror world, melee combat, body horror and even some of the animations). After beating the demo, I believe this will be a great game.
However, based solely on performance on my PC, I fear if the Switch version will be playable...
You can find various freeware Bad Dream prequels at Gamejolt. They'll give you a good insight into what you can expect from this entry, although this is waaay longer and with more branching options. I played this one on PC and if you'll like the Gamejolt entries, you'll love this one.
I've tried the demo on PC and sadly, while aesthetically the game is brilliant, I didn't enjoy the handling. The game autosteers and forces your car into single direction, disallowing for performing full 180° and start trolling or other classic pranks. Which begs the question - is there a way to turn off that steer assist and enjoy a proper racing experience?

@MurasakiTakeshi There was Atelier Resleriana this year, but it was a mobile gatcha and the reviews were not good.

Re: AM2R Creator Isn't A Fan Of Metroid Dread's E.M.M.I. Encounters
Half-agree. I mostly dreaded EMMIs because killing them was so repetitive, I could use only half of them in the game and it would be enough.
