They just started to recreate masterpieces on quite arguably the greatest console of all time .... no reason for anything but desired future software masterpiece and new hardware accessories to compete or extend AR/VR games
Switch has more potential and a lot more power than most people are aware of
To be quite honest with you, I find this article and talking point to be the most inane thing I’ve read on this site...
The switch just finished being the most successful console of the year and Nintendo’s best work in over a decade . They are finally in the stronghold as the #1 console, after a decade of being behind Sony (And often Xbox), and you are pondering Nintendo’s next move???
I think you just didn’t have anything of true value to write about this early in the year so you conjured up this piece’s inspiration from out of nowhere (not in a positive sense), but I find it more troubling that your editor hit the submit button on this piece
The switch as another 5+ years of development, and we just saw them scratch the surface with LABO
So just relax and slow down, and let us enjoy 2019.....THX
I used to dislike forums/discussion groups, but I’m so glad I looked at them when i got the switch, not that i buy non Nintendo but still you never know:
I had no idea (and wouldn’t have imagined) a seemingly useful and benign 3rd party accessory like a dock could literally render a console bricked and dead....crazy!
Besides Nintendo, Ubisoft has become my favorite, most trusted developer. None of their games have disappointed, all have surprised me with overwhelming delight.
@getyourak I must admit, I didn’t see any relative way of viewing your perspective by that initial post...however, now that you’ve explained more, you’ve made a lot of sense
Perhaps, if I may extend, that is if you didn’t already have this included, it may be better for Ubisoft to do a hybrid so that they can “elevate” the game on their own/in their own way, as seen with Mario+Rabbids
See, I thought the post was being comical or facetious, but now i see its just succinct Well said
@getyourak I dont follow...what do you mean by see Mario Rabbids?
IF you mean they are good examples of fusing two great games, you are totally right. Mario + Rabbids is the biggest surprise I’ve had with a video game, because I didn’t know what to expect, and now its my most played game ATM
We havent got a decent star fox successor since SNES and F-Zero is a classic that needs revitalization
I think IF a hybrid was done, they should at the very least include a Classic mode, even if its limited in comparison to their dream vision, somehow or someway, they cant just fuse these without including a classic/standalone mode
Not sure what the heat rising from GameCube and Wii U is coming from, but Ill say this in regard to the choice for throwback classic “free” game release (which is what PS+ started with, and their rollout of paid PS+ was absolutely embarrassing and a large basis of my critique and perception of this new console network)....
i think the NES choices are perfect
This is why 1) I always keep in mind, this is Nintendo, and it all started as NES.
2) as much as my favorite systems as a child on Christmas morning were SNES and N64, and although my life began on NES as a little toddler (in fact, i dont remember even getting my NES at the age of 6, that’s how little I was when NES debuted and i was born in 84), its still not the original, as much as it feels that way
3) this is the rollout, again, remember....who knows how it will evolve, i have no doubt in my mind well see an incarnation of SNES N64 gamecube, Wii, Wii U and anything else, because the current price and status of PS+ is FAR different monster than what was conceived at paid launch 5 years ago
4) the titles are classics, and I’d even say they are quite extensive for a premier...20 titles, and i know its old, NES classics, but still, nonetheless, the way developers are these days, 20 is a lot of free games, and they have NEW online capabilities that....(which also lead to my final point)
5) We still have to see what OTHER things are coming with it that we dont know about.
We really need to be patient, because Nintendo isn’t going to disappoint with what will be the only competition Sony is going to have for the next 5 years....too much riding on this launch play for nintendo, its the future of their biggest console to date and a shot to take over the console war for the current gen
I may be in the minority, but Nintendo is spot on. The price point, value, main and extra features, and consideration of PS+ network for $60/year, this is an incredibly deal comparatively. I don’t like what Sony gives as “free” games and “extras” per month, and I think THAT is worth $20/year...and I have had PSX, PS2, PS3, and PS4 (all bought at launch except PS3) and have paid for PS+ since the service started, so I’m speaking from a long time Original user.
Nintendo made it IMPOSSIBLE for me not to subscribe, simply if I just want to play a few matches online once a week or a few times a month, for $20! It’s all I needed at the only price I deem tolerable and acceptable, and fair, for console network subscriptions. Anything more (and I dont mean the even greater value of the $35 family plan, making it less than $2.50/person for the year!) and I’d definitely not be eager to pay whatsoever.
Sorry but I have to say Nintendo price point and service for $20 or $35 for 8 accounts is not only a great value but its cheap in comparison to the only competition (SONY)....I dont care about any of the old games and skins and theme nonsense for triple the price ($60) OR free game even....
I just want steady online server and maintenance service, for $20 its a steal, and you get cloud backup too AND now OLD school original NES games a bonus is WAY awesome
Incredible value and pricing, as always , Nintendo reset and sets the standard of what current next gen gaming is and should strive to be
ONLY issue, is they need to update the app for party making or just get rid of the app altogether, because if you dont have a iOS device handy its not fair and also the party making for online battles sucks, like splatoon and soon to be call of duty need serious revamp for party system
I agree with the durability, that can be lost without missing it...however, I trust Nintendo to make another fabulous Zelda, their track record is perfect as far as I’m concerned.
While it took a little adjustment (as my Gold standard is the NES original and the SNES update/follow up) I love BotW and I think either or is fine...
I’d love to see a bit of the “old school” cornerstones reintroduced if not only for a classic, nostalgic feel....but I think Nintendo is taking very small but profound and articulate steps in updating some aspects and elements to make it more relevant to the younger kids who may never have heard of NES (or the original Zelda )!!!
@AlexOlney Great videos. You’re quite the crack up there Alex. You had me laugh and rewind twice, which I rarely do when watching videos. I also never comment but it was so entertaining you deserved to know. PS NINTENDO RULES!

Exactly, tourjeff said it ....
I love both games
