such a wonderful organised launch from nintendo, with americans not able to order, stores in uk getting stocks for a minute then out of stock then few hours stock for another minute, with all the people who cannot get an order, such great organisation.
Talk about bad luck, last 2 weeks I have been on my computer working in evening, yesterday felt unwell so went sleep for 3 hours about 6pm to 9pm, yesterday at 7pm got email alert from stockinformer that tesco have took in stock, but of course was gone by 9pm when I read it, if this happened any other day I probably would have got one from tesco, so still relying on a shipping from holland. Tesco same mess as others, no pre warning they were putting this up for sale, it just randomly appeared in the evening.
My order from bol is 102 euros including shipping, I hope it also includes taxes.
@cfgk24 no, nintendo havent supplied enough full stop, however it seems many decided to order extra even if they not reselling on ebay, I consider both as bad as each other. I can understand ordering 2 in case one fails, but more than 2 no. game uk had by far the largest allocation of uk units, but they made the majority of them in store only, which also explains why online allocation of uk units is so low.
Clearly no pre order is a better system than this, because we know midnight 29 sept they released, so everyone is on a equal footing they know when to try and buy one, with this pre order system, no advance notice given, its pot luck if you happen to be trying to get one at the right time or some how you found out very quickly after orders opened.
I think the retailers could have done better by pre announcing when they open for orders, they also could accept further orders, so if more slots open up they get allocated.
Nintendo clearly could do better by making to order, they have a massive 3 month advance, and should be able to adapt to match demand, but they dont seem to want to. For a limited run they should have just said, order between now and 29 sept , we will honour all orders but after 29 sept it is done.
@Eddyson I dont know if argos ship to the netherlands, but you can try them, bookmark this page, they going to do more pre orders, but no idea when sadly.
If they only ship to the uk, then maybe someone in the uk can send it to you, such as myself. I plan to try and get one and if I succeed keep my dutch order as backup, but if I get both I can send you the one from netherlands.
@roadrunner343 I dont blame the scalpers, it is nintendo who chose to under supply the product, whilst the scalpers are selling for a big profit, they at least give a chance to those who missed the official stock. There is many on here who have admitted themselves they ordered extra just in case friends or family wanted one.
this is the core of the problem, there has been no planned order date/time so everyone knows when to order, instead people are relying on social media spreading the news and able to sit refreshing all day, this current system benefits scalpers as they have developed automated tools.
Sorry I ordered mine from netherlands because the UK sold out (and it took from you), whilst I expect americans have ordered from the UK taking up UK stock.
pj1 if you were asleep how did you get 2 pre orders in, sounds like you got extremely lucky, game website ran out of stock before nintendo's did. very was only in stock for 8 mins.
@Grandpa_Pixel the criticism to nintendo is deserved, this site is the only one that has had the guts to shame nintendo, this article is the voice for all those who couldnt preorder but wanted to. I managed to get one from a dutch retailer earlier, but only thanks to help on here from others, it looks like the uk is dead and buried now for orders all in a matter of minutes.
@StayFresh I expect this has always been the plan, it wouldnt give them rep points back tho, as it would be a publicity stunt to drive demand for switch consoles.
excellent article, it has summed up the situation well. given what I been told about the 300k worldwide shipments limit, I dont think there is going to be much more if any at all on pre orders, unless nintendo make a significant shift in their existing plans.
didnt get one, but really helpful guy in my local store gave me lot of info. game uk allocated only 7000 units, thats what they have managed to sell out, and 300k worldwide are only been produced. its a decision made by nintendo to make it a limited product regardless of demand.
still on hold to game uk to try and haggle one of them, I gave up last night as was on hold for 2 hours, even first thing in morning on hold for 30 mins and counting.
sandman I am on shopto, amazonuk, game uk email alerts since 28 jun, no in stock alerts at all.
Also got a website running which says its auto checking stocks every 2 mins and it has only logged 15 mins of stock from argos and nothing else. Its checking 8 retailers.
My feeling is its all done online. Might get some more in game uk shops, but since I am disabled I cant get there.
damn anton, thats crazy so in stock for one minute?
I have checked their page probably 30 times in past 2 hours.
All these retailers have to do is design websites where people can put n order in a queue then when stock comes the order is auto submitted, orders in queues can also be audited to see if customers are legit as well.
Obviously if nintendo actually allowed proper pre ordering this wouldnt matter but seems nintendo really dont want to fulfill demand.
@Grandpa_Pixel can I buy one of you, as I have tried so hard but nothing is in stock for the last 2 days when I check. I got a nasty feeling the pre order is done, they not going to bring any more online.
@Monkey_Balls Trust me its not been easy for me, I have never worked so hard to try and order something, if you do have any spare please sell one to me at RRP, rather than cancel.
Those who think its been not that bad, in the last 2 days I have probably spent 10-15 hours refreshing pages, all out of stock, came in stock for very short intervals when I wasnt doing this, I think this site needs to be putting pressure on nintendo as it looks like they deliberately restricting supply. The article on this page tries to paint a much rosier picture than the reality.
The reality is argos sold out in 15 mins (not 2 hours). The initial rush was sold out everywhere within 24 mins. Game uk seem to now only be adding additional waves in store and not online. Argos have delisted the product on their website. Smyths have announced no more stock at all until 29 sept so no more pre orders. Amazon uk have put up the sort of holding page they usually put up when they dont expect stock for a "long" time. So sadly it seems those of us who missed out looks like we not getting one, I dont get why they did a pre order, as it looks like they got no intention whatsoever to meet demand. Pre order is normally done to gauge demand and meet it, in this case, they have simply put up the very limited stock 3 months early.

Re: You Still Can't Pre-Order The Super NES Classic In The US, And This Could Be Why
I got one from game uk now, so finally managed to get one from a uk retailer.

So approx £89, about an extra tenner.

@impurekind The question is how did you manage to get on the nintendo store right when it went live, you are psychic?

I think its been used to push a future enhanced VC service on the switch, that would make business sense providing it pays off.

Re: It Seems Argos Is Cancelling Some SNES Classic Mini Pre-Orders In The UK
holding page is back but no ordering yet, so argos cancelled a load of orders and going to take some more, this whole launch is chaos.

Re: Editorial: The Frustrating Quest for a SNES Mini is Bad Business for Nintendo
@mike_intv 300k was given to me by a game uk manager, it may have been rubbish, but I am just passing on what I got told.
They dont need to cut out retailers to accept all pre orders. They just tell retailers they will fulfill any orders they take before 29 sept.
Re: Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your SNES Mini / Super NES Classic Edition
Slaz, yeah I got one thanks again, also my address is ok, it just went weird due to google translate.
Re: Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your SNES Mini / Super NES Classic Edition
The EAN matches the UK retailers, I guess that means they all the same language?
Re: Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your SNES Mini / Super NES Classic Edition
thank you slaz for updating post, bol successful, but my address is formatted weird so I will contact them to fix.
I just hope games are in english.
Re: Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your SNES Mini / Super NES Classic Edition
nedgame sold out before I finished, couldnt even find it on the other site.
Re: Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your SNES Mini / Super NES Classic Edition
on nedgame I am close but this box "Address + Addition" is red and wont accept anything
Re: Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your SNES Mini / Super NES Classic Edition
slaz you have a directlink for bol to the product page?
thanks
nedgame website seems to be crashing under the load
Re: Editorial: The Frustrating Quest for a SNES Mini is Bad Business for Nintendo
@mike_intv
thats what they should have done, accepted all preorders, make 29 sept the deadline for ordering, after that date no more orders.
That is fair to everyone. Even if some people get late, its better than getting nothing.
Re: Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your SNES Mini / Super NES Classic Edition
darty france, has it available, but I think isnt possible to order, I cannot register as its enforcing a french postcode and phone number
Re: Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your SNES Mini / Super NES Classic Edition
thanks nab, will german/french units have english language?

I dont see any consistent stocking, I am registered at 4 different retailers for stock alerts, and zero emails have came in.
