Re: Nintendo Download: 21st May (North America)

@Donjwolf My only mahjong experience so far (besides playing it as one of the many mini games in "Amazing Adventures: The Forgotten Ruins" an excellent H/O adventure game BTW) has been "MahJong Quest Expeditions" that I picked up at Gamestop this past weekend.
It did have a timer and the tiles patterns were very difficult to distinguish on such a small screen.

And thanks for the info, I'll check out Best of Mahjong you mentioned!

@Donjwolf Thanks for that bit of info. hey do you happen to know of a mahjong game WITHOUT a timer? I play games on my 3DS to relax and what with those tiles being small enough already I don't need the pressure of a stinkin' timer LOL Download or physical game would be fine although I prefer the latter

Re: Super Smash Bros. Club Nintendo Mewtwo Codes and Costume DLC Now Live

cali_angel

It's the 21st of April and I had to call for the codes. Nice CS rep emailed them to me as I was on the phone. However I forgot to ask him before hanging up if there is an expiration date to download. I'm planning to give the codes to my brother and nephews but they are going on vacation tomorrow and may not have time to download before they leave.
Anyone here happen to know if these codes have to be used by a certain date?

Re: Reminder: This is Your Last Day to Register Products on Club Nintendo

Just got through at 12:25 EDT and it said that I had a Super Smash Bothers post game survey worth 60 points that expires 3/31. Then it disappeared and said I have nothing in the To Do List.
I know it is after midnight but I have been unable to log on to their site now for hours. I think it would be a nice gesture to allow folks who entered their info today the chance to complete unfinished business so-to-speak within the coming days.

@Feathered_Pilot
Actually I entered most of my own codes last week. The ones I got today were emailed from my brother. Turns out he had no idea CN was shutting down until this Sunday when I let him know. He doesnt participate so I asked if he could give me his.
The way my nephews scatter their games about it took him awhile to find them

Re: Titanic Mystery

I for one love HO/puzzlers and would get this one without hesitation except the reviews on Amazon UK are horrid. In Europe this one is sold as an actual physical game
Also looks like it has a timer, I don't like to play against a clock. I am "oldster", I game to relax

If this "Titanic Mystery" download for the 3DS is the same as the physical game sold in the UK then it is both a hidden object and puzzle game.

Re: Review: Mystery Case Files: Return to Ravenhearst (3DS eShop)

cali_angel

Posting on this thread very late but figured I would pass along some info.
i downloaded both this game and the original Ravenhearst and have to say I enjoy this one much, much more despite the lower score. There is no timer in this game unlike the previous and the graphics are beautiful even on the small screen of the 3DS
Not having a timer is important to me as my eyes are not that good anymore. I also play these games to relax, not try to beat a clock that punishes you by erasing all of your progress and making you start over.
If you enjoy hidden object, puzzle games that follow a story this one is well worth it, particularly if you can download it on sale at the eshop. For $3.99 I'm very happy

Re: The Nintendo 3DS is Now Four Years Old in Europe

cali_angel

I am late to this party, way late!! I gave myself a 3DS XL for Christmas, my first hand held console and I'm fifty. After playing with my twin nephews' 3DS's I caught the fever and took the plunge. And I've since picked up a couple of used DSi XL's to have on hand, even gave one to my mom. Then I loaded up on lot's of games, some new but mostly used. I tried regular size 3DS and while it was comfortable to hold I need the larger screen for my "old" eyes ;D
I'm proof that It is never to late to enjoy gaming. I absolutely love it
The 3DS was the best $$ I've spent in a long time. I use it everyday and look forward to my "game time".

Re: Harmonix Explains Why Rock Band 4 Isn’t Coming to Wii U, But Doesn't Rule it Out

cali_angel

We have all the Rock Band & Guitar Hero games as well as two sets of guitars and drum sets for BOTH series and a lot of extra mics. We picked up most of them used. I even scored a brand new drum set off ebay at a great price

I had read in the past that the instruments are not compatible with the Wii U however there are still Wii owners such as myself who already have a boat load of instruments. I was hopeful the new game would include the Wii platform.
My husband loves rockin out on the drums and since I can't play an instrument I pick up the mic and scare the heck out of the neighbors.
I dont care how lousy I sound, it's just plain fun.
And when my brother and twin nephews drop in, we have enough instruments for everyone to join in and have a great time.

Sure we all know the Wii isn't for hard core gamers but it's great entertainment, in our house that's what matters.
I would have bought this.

Re: Review: Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst (3DS)

Late to the comments here but IMO what kills this game for me is the timer.

OK, I'm a heck of a lot older than most folks on here so my eyes are not the sharpest.
Trying to find the hidden objects was tough but since Im an avid HO gamer that is no big deal. I play games to relax.

The worst aspect of the game is trying to assemble the VERY sepia toned parchment pieces that also have to be turned in the right direction with the stylus. Maybe on a PC screen it's not too tough but on my 3ds XL all the pieces look alike.
It is so difficult to see that I even removed my contact lenses and put my face really close to the screen.
And you know what? I would eventually be able to assemble that puzzle AND enjoy doing it if that no good timer wasn't ticking away. When time runs out ALL progress is lost and you have to start that level all over again.

Fortunately I bought it on sale in the eshop so I'm only out $4.00 but if I knew that there was no way to play without the timed aspect I wouldn't have bothered.

I know I wont download Return To Ravenhearst even though it's on sale too.
