"Maybe I want games to divert my mind to a nonsensical fantasy world without guns — Nintendo and the Wii U give me that."
^^THIS.
i dont wanna re-live some version of the real world in games, especially violent or emotionally tragic things! (horror games r a different story) the Wii U is likely to give me the majority of that kind of non-reality gameplay comparatively and for that i THANK Nintendo... and maybe the PS4

Re: Soapbox: Why Grand Theft Auto V Isn't For Me

videogames are a personal experience for everyone. is this extreme violence portrayed in this game not just a sign 'o the times, or symptoms of our current mass-shooting culture? if u wanna snort drugs and hump hookers all while killing people and avoiding the cops, do it. as Bruce Lee said, "what you habitually think is what you ultimately become." ...or something like that. we all have our own versions of escapism, if hookers and hot rides is your version of it, who am i to say otherwise. personally the article has a certain resonance with me, i will forever choose Zelda, Mario and the like over such "mature" experiences. to each their own, birds of a feather flock together.

i wish more people would play it ( u can beat it in less than 3 hours). i try to make my friends play, its a joy to re-experience just watching. the social/consumerist commentary riding the surface of that game can all but be lost when playing it. from the music to the graphics to the humor to the fire sounds... this game is EPIC. super joy happy times. go games!

Re: Talking Point: An Open Letter To Nintendo

sounds whiny and expectant. maybe the letter writer's expectations have changed and paid too much attention to the 24-7-365 lamestream media's continual stories about the supposed immediate gratification thats supposed to occur in our day and age... why can't a console exists in the ebb and flow that is natural, especially when it should be around 5 - 7 years! imho, Nintendo HAS offered us new things from their Directs to Miiverse announcements MADE by the proffesionals to everything that is Nintendoland and the new Wii U outlook. Given their penchant for originality, value, and polish, Nintendo remain anything BUT irrelevant to me. They ARE videogames to this fanboy.

SO many memories made. one of my biggest regrets was trading this and ALL the games i had to get the N64 (which i still loved and have.) My naive younger self was convinced that newer would be better, it wasnt. long live the SNES and thanks be to baby jesus for the GBA and Virtual Console as ive somewhat regained my collection. i heart Nintendo and their genius in game design!
