Re: The Witcher III On Switch Finally Gets DLC Inspired By The Netflix Series

__Ret55

Tried this out and it works with complete edition and standalone version on switch for anyone wondering. You just have to own all of the parts ie, base game, heart of stone and blood and wine either individually or as the complete edition. Was worried I would have to repurchase the complete edition on switch to match my xbox but nope so there’s that.

Also for anyone interested you have to hit my rewards on the title screen, from there visit the link the game gives you and create your gog.com profile.

Do the same on your other platform, my rewards, follow the link, then login to gog.com.

Once done you can load up the save you want to play (I went with my xbox save). Hit left trigger on the load save menu, make the save available for gog cloud play. Then the bit that had me confused, you have to actually load the save up, then manually save again in order to create the gog cloud version.

Boot up your switch and you should see the save there ready to load up n continue where you left off. No manual messing about from then on its simply a case of saving and loading on which ever platform you want to play on. Hope this helps someone.

Re: Nintendo Seeking Experienced Manager To Help Grow Switch Online Service

Give us a profile with achievements or trophies and give us back virtual console! I would play link to the past again tomorrow if i know i will get a trophy for finishing each dungeon, finding every heart piece etc. Something to show for our efforts, Or nailing a designated lap time on super mario kart.... So much wasted material they dont tap into.

Re: NBA 2K19 - Effortlessly The Best Basketball Sim On Nintendo Switch

__Ret55

Had 2k18 n rated it up there with the best games on the switch. So much so i pre ordered this n its a great game. Dont quite get all the love loss due to microtransactions. These arent forced and its perfectly viable to play the game naturally n level up, get packs etc. Its the same as fifa and ultimate team, buy packs if u like but i prefer to play my way to a good team, its the whole point for me. Each to their own i guess but no way does this game force you to spend one penny more than the admission price. A micro sd card for ya switch may put folk off too but again id say one of these is almost imperative anyway if u plan on playing bigger n better games on switch in the future as more developers push the limits like 2k does, this game is probably the most impressive on switch for me n i include mario, xeno n zelda in that. To answer the person who asked if ya mates can play this with little knowledge id say yeah, if you just want to play exhibitions. Just pick all star teams or classic all star teams as the players stats can make up for any mistimed shots the majority of the time.

Personally im a massive sucker for nostalgia. I would love to see you guys re-review games from back in the day, re scoring them again now to relive some of those great memories while im on my break at work (articles not videos please for this very reason). Something like A Link to the past 25 years later re-reviewed. Or some background on those games from our youth like how David Wise got on board with Donkey Kong Country etc. Octopath Traveler vs Final Fantasy 6. Apart from that, keep up the good work.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 3

__Ret55

My personal favourite out of all the Sonic's, the two player racing wasnt quite as fun as sonic 2 but still decent. This one had the best level's, with most levels going left to right just as much as they went right to left giving every stage a great sense of size and depth. Music was also perfect, Flying Battery Zone had some of the greatest music i've ever heard in a game. Bonus stages were also up there with the greatest bonus games on any game i've played.

Re: Paper Mario

__Ret55

@ Tomm Kerr - The game doesnt have a percentage counter as far as i can remember but it does have 7 chapters to is so if you're on chapter 4, you're more than half way through!

Like many i played Thousand year door before this one and loved that one. Didnt think it was possible but this one for the N64 is just as good as its gamecube counterpart. Brilliant.

Re: Super Turrican

__Ret55

A classic, this one has to be released pretty soon if they've announced the sequal at the same time. Never played the sequal but the original played sort of like a side scrolling metroid, music to this one was great aswell.

Re: Top 10 platform games we want to come to the Virtual Console

__Ret55

Addams family rocked, was one of the first platform games i played for the Amiga along with Shadow of the Beast, quality games. Yoshi's Island for the snes should have been in there somewhere, but the game i really want to see is The Chaos Engine, the ultimate Co-Op game. Come to think of it, there's the next category for you guy's to cover - the most wanted 2 player games.

Re: Europe VC Releases - 1st June - Sega goodies

__Ret55

@ Steve - lower yes, increase no.

I was referring to the Genesis games in my example which are already priced at 800 points regardless of if they are good, average or bad. I'm just saying that if they lowered the price of games such as Kid chameleon or Toe jam and earl to say 600 points based on a rating, a lot more people like ryohazuki1983 and myself might take an interest in them. Streets of Rage 2 will be bought at any 800 points anyway because it's good but the other's not so imo.

Re: Europe VC Releases - 1st June - Sega goodies

__Ret55

I agree, you cant charge someone 800 points to play Kid Chameleon and the same amount to play Streets of Rage 2 simply because of the sheer difference in quality in the games. Maybe Nintendo should link up with VC Reviews and charge by their rankings? 5 star games are worth 800, 4 star games are worth 700, 3 star 600, 2 star and less are cheaper still at 500. It will never happen though, Nintendo would rather employ their own team to rate the games, and rather still to leave things as they are, but hey, you never know, lol.

Re: US VC Releases - 21st May - Streets of Rage 2

__Ret55

I wonder if Nintendo have pushed this one on popular demand or shortage of return cash wise. I haven't downloaded a game in a while so they've decided to release the one game that anyone with two hands will be unable to resist. Curse you Nintendo, release this on Friday in Europe and there's 800 Wii points coming your way from everyone on the other half of the globe aswell.

Re: Yoshi

__Ret55

this was a decent effort of a game, something different from your ordinary looking puzzler.

Re: Streets of Rage 2

__Ret55

Combine this with the announcement of Sonic 2 and we have two of the Mega Drive's greatest games on route. Two new characters in this one to replace Adam from the previous title. Skate was my personal favourite whereas the wrestler Max was all too slow for my liking and kinda reminded me of Zangief from Street Fighter. The special moves are so much better aswell, no more pointless cop car scenes. Wii points at the ready.

Re: Opera Browser Available NOW

__Ret55

Anyone downloaded the new browser yet? If someone could post the main differences between this new one and the trial version then that would be much appreciated.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

__Ret55

There's few moments in games as good as when you walk out of the cathedral for the first time and your ears are blessed with the overworld theme from A Link to the Past. Only my personal favourite Majora's Mask to come now but this is a very close second.

Re: Hardware Focus - Sega Megadrive / Genesis

__Ret55

The mega drive 2. anyone have one? the black one with the red buttons. I had the original model with the volume thing on the front but my point is why call the revamped design console the mega drive 2 when all they did was change the shape? Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS Lite. Playstation, PSOne. GBA, GBA SP. Clearly sega were't ahead of their times when it came to changing the name slightly. The Sega Saturn should have been called the mega drive 2 and a lot more sales would have been made in my opinion.

Re: Europe VC Releases - 16th March - Splatterhouse

__Ret55

i'll be honest and say i've never played splatterhouse, making this a poor week for me personally. Fortunately, Square-Enix released a Mammoth of a game in Final Fantasy XII a few weeks back so my Wii is currently gathering dust anyway.

Re: Super Mario World

__Ret55

The game cube controller uses the red B button to jump like the Snes did and the grey Y button to run also like the snes did. Unfortunately, the grey Y button is located at the top of the 4 buttons on a gamecube pad and the B button is to the lower left. You can imagine how frustrating it is trying to hold the run button with your right thumb and coming back towards the lower middle of the pad to jump, it just doesnt work. Donkey Kong Country suffers from the same problem, luckily for us, the Classic Controller is a carbon copy of the old Snes pad and is the only way to play Super Mario Land.

Re: Ecco The Dolphin

__Ret55

No comments on old ECCO? this was always one of those games that people wanted to like but eventually got bored, probably around the same point as me. Second level, trying to move or break some crystal blockages, i could never figure out what to do and found myself just doing flips out of the water over a rock to kill a few minutes. Then i never played it again. ECCO might be alright if you get into it but the lack of comments suggests it didnt have a paticularly strong fan base. Still though, the novelty of playing a dolphin is pretty neat, if only for 10 minutes rock hopping but probably's not worth a download.

Re: Europe VC Releases - 16th March - Splatterhouse

__Ret55

I thought i was going to be dissapointed if we got sonic spinball and company this week but these three games are even worse. The last game on the VC that i bought was Super Mario World, that's how long it's been since a "must have" came out for us PAL users. Is it just me or do Nintendo seem to release a massive game such as Ocarina of Time and think "that should keep them busy for a month or so." Then they spend the next few weeks rolling out games such as TMNT and Elevator Action while we sit back and complete Zelda. I thought this might happen when we saw OOT released and this just confirms it. Expect to see something good released in the next week or so, OOT's lifespan must surely be near enough up by now.

Re: US VC Releases - 12th March

__Ret55

True, but like the review above says, a lot of people will download Spinball because it contains Sonic alone when it was in fact made by different creators and didnt do the hedgehog any justice at all. Ristar has been out for weeks and is a truly excellent game made by the creators of Sonic and it really shows. Get that instead of this anyday (for those who haven't already).

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

__Ret55

Like many i own this game about 3 times so purchasing it for convenience sake is purely a waste of money. If the rumours are true about the slower framerate on the VC version and you do own OOT in another form, then i would hold out for Majora's Mask, or if like me you live in the UK, A Link to the Past.

Re: Ristar

__Ret55

This game is quality. I was one of those fortunate enough to pick this one up when it was released back in the day. It's a bright, colourful, solid platformer. Think Sonic style enviroments with varied Sonic gameplay. This isnt your typical Sonic gameplay though where every level is just a different background and you jump and spin through different obstacles. Ristar has stretchy arms to climb, grab switches, hang on to flying owls, and much more including snowball fights with an eskimo. If you missed this one first time round and you owned at least one sonic, you owe it to yourself to give his intergerlactic cousin a go aswell.

Re: Bonanza Bros

__Ret55

Brilliant in two player for a few hours on a miserable sunday afternoon. The single player is good for a bit but becomes repetitive all too fast. Used to enjoy playing it with my brother when we were younger, robbing banks and seeing who could get to the roof first with the most loot. While competing for loot you would also be working together, closing doors in the faces of guards to buy your mate a few extra seconds and heading off to different areas to distract sleeping guards. The graphics due suit this game and are something you wont find in many games, the screenshots dont do it justice at all. A 4/5 star purchase for the two player mode, about a 2/3 for one player, there really is no drive to play unless your competing and co-operating with a friend.

Re: Donkey Kong Country

__Ret55

I Adore this game, one thing i noticed though, i've completed this game so many times and have never used the roll move or cartwheel move. They seem pointless, I hold down the "y" button to run all the time but i seem to treat the game more like sonic and mario and only use jump. Not sure why when its clearly there to be used but the gameplay itself just doesnt seem to require it.
