@JayJ I want to play Tales of the Shire. There are people who are enjoying it despite its issues. I played for 11 hours on Switch 2 before Grand Bazaar launched, and I'm hoping for a proper Switch 2 version for Tales of the Shire. I enjoyed the time I played, but I'm hoping it'll get better. The core game is lovely. It just needs performance and graphics updates for the Switch/Switch 2. I'm interested to see what has changed with this update, though I never had any of the major crashes or bugs that this article talked about. The worst bug I had was seeing a random hobbit stuck in the ground, and that one made me laugh. Though, my friend who borrowed my copy and played it on Switch Lite said she had tons of issues with it crashing. So it may be the difference between the Switch 1 and Switch 2. That said, I did play in handheld on my OLED for a couple hours and never had any major performance issues. The frame rate just dropped a bit compared to the Switch 2 for me. So, I don't know. Maybe I've just been lucky.
@Daniel36 It really is. Deltarune is a very unique game that will make you feel things that most games don't. It has the perfect balance of sort of horror elements that give a little bit of the old creepy pasta vibes without taking it so far that I'm still freaking out after I quit playing.
I just beat chapter 4 last night. Am I the only one who struggled a little bit with the final boss even though I managed to beat the super bosses in both the end of Chapter 3 and the middle(ish) of Chapter 4? It took me three tries which isn't nearly as many tries as the super bosses, but still two more tries than any other mainline boss. I adore this game. It has absolutely infested my autistic brain. The way it manages to give off weird/creepy vibes along with heartwarming and SOUL crushing moments (both "literally" and emotionally) is insane to me. Most of the games I play are just fun. Not many make me feel things in the way that Deltarune does. I need to replay Undertale because I remember very little from it, but having made it a couple hours into my replay, I'm fairly confident I'm still going to prefer Deltarune. The crazy hard boss at the end of Chapter 3 made me so frustrated, and I wanted to give up but I couldn't. When I finally managed to beat it, it was a great moment.
I don't have money for new hardware, and I don't have enough time to play all the games I already own. I still haven't gotten anywhere near beating Tears of the Kingdom.
I like a good mix. I like games that throw you into the action, but I also like games with a slower, more story driven build-up. I think either approach is good if it's done well. Some games are just for fun and need a quick jump into the action, while others are focused on telling a story, and they can have a little slower of a start. As long as whatever they're doing is engaging, either from a gameplay or story perspective, I don't mind.
I don't mind the new character designs. I think they were kind of necessary to modernize the game. I don’t see Nami as wearing makeup, and I actually really like her redesign — even as much as the original. She was also a big deal to me as a queer kid raised Catholic. I'm afab nonbinary and Nami was the first character in a video game that I really resonated with. So, of course I used the internet to learn how to woo her as soon as I saw her. I'm super excited I can play as a nonbinary character in this game, and I can't wait to have (Another) Wonderful Life with Nami! ^_^
