Ah good old mercs, now heres a classic. Its been years since iv played this now but it got a lot of my time when I was younger. I wonder how its stood the test of time?

@Kelvin, ah Commodore Format, sorry but it has been a while!! close enough Still, its the only time iv ever seen a magazine which rates exclusively in percentage award a game 100% and that as you can see has had a lasting effect. Its pretty impressive in my book, even if it was unwarranted, the game was bugged if you remember (you couldnt get more then 10 lives or your meter would return to zero. You knew that already, someone else here may not) and hey, 95% is still a pretty flippin essential!

Nice article. Personally I think Mayhem in monsterland was the pinnacle of C64 gaming, even if it was released a little late in the C64s life time. I remember the graphics blew me away at the time. And the music ws equally unbelievable. I also remember the rather controversial 100% it recieved in Commodore Force magazine, but yeah I had creatures 1+2 as well, all great games we should DL

Isnt this the kind of mentality Nintendo are trying abolish with the wii? Sitting on your ass stuffin pies in your gob isnt cool, and this game is not welcome.

YYEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! This is the best news iv heard all day!!! C64 flippin rocks!!! Bring on the creatures, mayhem in monsterland, led storm, dizzys, terminator2!!!!! But 500 points is waaaaaay too expensive. Considering back in the day a C64 tape cost £5 Irish, to download today costing 5euro? That shouldnt be rite. Most vc games cost one tenth of their original retail price. We should be buying these for 50cent!! unlikely though.... dont forget C64 blues brothers, robocop and rick dangerous!

So i guess thats our EU games of choice this week as well. Let me express my feelings through emoticon.

Remember the level where shinobi is standing on falling rocks, and hes jumping upscreen to more falling rocks? Isnt that level just fantastic?! I remember playing that level and thinking, Shinobi, how the hell did you get yourself into this situation?!!!! Fantastic game.

I downloaded this a while ago while ago when I was drunk (I thought the name was really funny) and it turned out to be quite an excellent game! Nice challenge and incentive to move forward with the amusing story. Presidents kidnapped? Of coarse he is! Get in there!! Something that hasnt been mentioned in the review is the excellent music in this game. In particular the 2nd level tune, had it in my head for days!! Its not an essential title but its a great blast all the same. Recommended.

Lets take this time to reflect on our previous purchases. I can honestly say of all the VC games iv downloaded, iv only completed half. So maybe this week should be spent finaly finishing the likes of streets of rage3, super metroid and (for shame) link to the past(!) among others. Its nearly a relief to get a week off......nearly.

I have but one request in regards the Neo-Geo joystick. Make it Neo-Geo black, and not Wii white. And all will be well. (and wireless too, with a decent battery life, not pushed about the rumble but thats all I ask I promise!!)

What?! Super Thunder blade was a bad game?! are ye sure? I remember this triple pack with alien storm was great craic! I spent a lot of time on this when I was small, and yeah I got great enjoyment from it. Helicopters in all old school video games are brilliant. Really cool 80s vibe.

Very good, never got to play a master system properly so this should be fun. So if Nintendo are still expanding the VC channels, and speaking of 8-bit consoles, whats the chance of seeing the C64 logo making an apperance?! Now there was a real mans system! Id be pretty happy with Eternal Champions. In fact I wouldnt complain for a week if we got Eternal Champions next Friday.

Yikes, times seem to be getting a bit tough in this new year. One game? Im one of those suckers that have already bought the previous two street fighter releases on VC, and, ah, yeah im gonna get this one too I dont care I just love street fighter! Unfortunatly I think Nintendo know guys like me exist. Never got to play this one as I had a mega-drive when I was small, so I dont know if its any good or not. Incidently, WHATS GOIN ON WITH THE LACK OF MEGA-DRIVE GAMES!!!

I remember getting melee with the purchase of my cube and was completly blown away at the time. I never got to play the original smash (I foolishly parted with my N64 before this was released) this would be a great oppertunity to see how the series developed from N64. So yes ill definitly be getting smash to get my brain in the right frame of mind to appriciate brawl. Is it right to call this a trilogy now? Yeah the third game is being released, but it dosent really feel like a trilogy.

Ah brilliant, this was also my first RPG. I didnt know what I was getting into at the time. I remember I thought it would be quite humorous to give my main character a comical name, it ran something like ****nose or something (I was young) little did I relise that id have to stare at that name till completion of my quest! And believe me, the joke had well worn off after an hour or so! That aside, I do still hold very fond memories of this game, I hope its been able to stand the test of time. Definitly a five star game on release, ill reserve my final judgement till I download and play this again.

Another week, another two games I have no interest in. Oh god Im getting really hungry for a good game, nothing wrong with 1080, fine game. But not for me. That other excuse for a game dosent count. Roll on next week I suppose... (again)

My problem is iv run out iv space on my wii for anymore VC games. Not that I went and bought outlandish titles (yes I even had a laugh with Altered Beast) but there were just so many quality titles. Yes I have an SD card and yes I know I can delete and re-download but what I really want is for Nintendo to release an external hard-drive of some description so they can be instantly accessable. Anyone know if thats on the way? I cant be the only person on this page with this problem

Big sonic fan, had 1 2 3+knuckles for the mega-drive when I was small. Not buying any of these though as I have the mega collection for cube. Which strangly dosent include sonic3 AND knuckles,or if it does I cant unlock it. Favorite is still 2 but this is top class stuff. As that lad said, get this game.
