I get it. The Nintendo Switch is meant for 1st parties. If you want 3rd party, go for any of the other consoles. BUT, this is still a bit disappointing! In my very utopian mindset, 3rd party developers would be equally supported, giving Nintendo less incentive to jack up the prices of their games, and rely more on supporting 3rd party developers to give their own player base the chance to experience other games on the go! I guess the world we live in as democratized portable gaming, so the novelty of the Switch is less shiny, but I'm speaking to the tired parents who just put their kids to bed and want to unwind on the console they just finished playing Mario on. Or the person (me) who wants to kill time on a road trip or an airplane ride with his console of choice. I'm a Nintendo purist at heart, and I wish I could play the games that come to other consoles on the Nintendo console I own. I know the solution would be to just get another console, but I don't WANT to. This is 100% a "me" thing, and doesn't necessarily represent the majority of players, but I've always enjoyed having me gaming be centralized around a single piece of hardware, not spread out over multiple. But I digress. People will vote with their dollars and the industry will respond accordingly.
It's an 8.5/10 for me. Once I got over the fact that the open world really is just a "free roam" to kinda chill out and turn off your brain for a bit, versus a fully-fledged single player experience, I started to enjoy it a LOT more. The tracks are fun and inventive, the art style is a joy, the expressiveness of the characters is charming, the music is top notch, and the racing itself feels as engaging as ever. I do hope that Nintendo does some re-balancing with items as it teeters a little too far into the "luck" territory vs the skill territory. The Mario Kart series has always been great about making it feel like an equalizing experience that rewards skill, but gives more in-experienced players an advantage via items. Mario Kart World though too often indulges in its own chaos and makes slipping from 1st to last an all-to-often occurrence that can feel cheap and frustrating at times. Generally, I can laugh it off as classic Mario Kart being Mario Kart. But I could do with some re-balancing to make my victories feel earned, and not the result of getting a great end-game item.

@jeronmoore I appreciate you chiming in here. Do the updates at least include gyro support?
Cheers and thanks for continuing to support this game!
Re: Bloober Team Wants To "Open A New Chapter" For Horror Games On Nintendo Consoles
Make them proper physicals and running at the very LEAST at a rock solid 30 fps, and I'll buy whatever horror game you put in front of my face.
Re: Surprise! Nintendo Announces Indie World Showcase For Thursday 7th August 2025
Hopefully the Mouse Works team gets some much deserved love.
Also wouldn't mind getting on update on the Brotato DLC and Streets of Rogue 2!
