Re: Jack Tretton Wishes Nintendo Every Success With Wii U

@GameLord08
Oh for certain. What MS did there was smart on their part. Personally it upset me a bit, but they sure can stir things up, and I can respect that.

And I guess you're correct on the Tretton debate. Not really an addressing of the console itself. But I just feel it's good on the man that he can compliment the efforts of the competition.
A day where everyone from one side can publicly respect the opposite will be a good day in my eyes.

Re: Jack Tretton Wishes Nintendo Every Success With Wii U

@GameLord08
Yes, I do. But you don't see any other companies saying that about other consoles do you?

No? Then my point remains. This is a good addressing of a competitor, rather than the one that treats it as though it doesn't exist. PR or not, MS's only real public response to the WiiU is something that acts as if it doesn't exist.

Plus it was stupid.

Re: Wii U Holiday Sales Projected to Exceed Wii Launch

TysonOfTime

@Ren
You misunderstand. My response was to that of the Wii U not being as good as the Wii. It does the exact same as the Wii, but that is a SMALL PART of what it does.

"If anything what we wanted by now was an HD Nintendo with Motion Plus controls"

It does. It's a Wii, Plus an HD console, plus Nintendo Magic.
That's why people who like Nintendo want it.

Re: Talking Point: Life Without Wii U Achievements

TysonOfTime

I do feel that achievements are an excuse for the developer, a fit of laziness perhaps. If you really need some kind of reward for playing your game longer or 100%ing it, then you haven't made a very good game, now have you?

But achievements for specific challenges I guess I'm fine with. But I'd rather you get a reward in-game as well rather than just an achievement.

Re: Wii U Won't Include Trophies Or Achievements

TysonOfTime

@theblackdragon
I agree with you 100%.

@Tsuchiya
Poll the fans and you can call that a fact.

@HarmoKnight
Unlockables and achievements are two different things. Believe it or not, most games with unlockables have achievements that go hand in hand. Nintendo could do both.

I hope they do decide to put them in at some point, because some Nintendo games could really benefit from them.

And anyone who thinks the old "do anything: get achievements" concept is how achievements generally are obviously haven't been playing too many games that incorporate them.
Xenoblade's Achievements? That's how most achievements are.

Re: Wii U Holiday Sales Projected to Exceed Wii Launch

@Mahe
...
...
Doesn't seem AS GOOD?

In what standpoint? Graphical? Launch lineup? Motion Controls? If you're answer is C, then get ready, because the Wii U has the EXACT same motion controls. The EXACT same controller even! It does everything the Wii did (Other than Play GC games) but more as well.

If the thing is a literal better envisioning of the Wii, how can it be less? Please, I want to hear the opinion behind this.

Re: Wii U Won't Include Trophies Or Achievements

TysonOfTime

@Knux
I don't disagree that achievements are a huge part. I personally really like achievements and am upset that the Wii U won't have them.

But like I said, the argument that it should have achievements so people can debate over what version to get is the most idiotic thing.

Re: Feature: Nintendo's Wii U Hype Machine

TysonOfTime

@Radixxs
I said 'cool' because you directed your statement at me for no discernible reason. Unless of course you just sincerly wanted me to know.

@GameLord
What I mean is, what would sell more units, something that it makes it look cool, or something that tells you what it is?
I feel like the cool factor is more appealing to consumers than an informative commercial. Once interested they can futher research the product.

Then again the Japenese commercial seems to be the best one by far.

Re: Feature: Nintendo's Wii U Hype Machine

TysonOfTime

@Phle
In America, information doesn't sell products. Imagery does. The US commercial does its job.
@Radixxs
Cool.

Anyways, I just came back from stumbling into a GameStop with a demo unit.
Played Rayman Legends.

It was the most fun I've had all month. Playing a Demo for that game. I'm 110% excited for the launch now.

Re: How Many Nintendo References Can You Spot In Alphagames?

TysonOfTime

@WaxxyOne
J is Journey, a beautiful PSN game that everyone should play.
K is Katimari Damacy, an amazing PS series about rolling up the entire world with your giant sticky rolling ball. It's as weird as it aounds.
L is Limbo, a downloadable game for XBLA and PSN. Pretty good supposedly.
N is Nights: Journey of Dreams. A Sega title originally for Dreamcast I believe.
R is indeed Resident Evil.
U is Uncharted. If you don't know what THAT is there'a no helping you.
V is indeed Viva Pinata.
Y is Ys, an RPG I believe, though I have no real knowledge or experience with the game/series at all.

Dunno about Fission Mailed, but 'Jill Sandwhich' I think is from Resi Evil, and 'A Bad Enough Dude' is part of the quote 'Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the president?' from the retro game Bad Dudes.

Re: Miiverse To Be Detailed In An Upcoming Nintendo Direct

TysonOfTime

Meh. Could care less when they decide to show these things. Knowing beforehand won't cause it to be any more good or bad. I'm willing to get this regardless of it's online (well... maybe regarding that it's FREE online), so if the online bombs, my investment in the console doesn't change.

Re: How Did Nintendo Do At This Year's Golden Joystick Awards?

TysonOfTime

For GOTY I can agree...

But for handhelds... From what I heard the Vita Uncharted wasn't anything THAT special. Considering the rave reviews for RE: Revelations, and the overall greatness of KI Uprising, I'm surprised.

"Youtube Gamer: Yogscast"
Since GameGrumps is now a thing this is inexcusable.
