Game is great way better than Jam - All Jam has is the nostalgia factor going for it. I recently played Jam on vacation (arcade) and it has not aged well. It was just the only arcade basketball game at the time and defined what arcade basketball should be - Playgrounds is a superior game in every respect and way deeper than Jam with some Mario Kart tricks (12 point shot anyone) to allow for comebacks via the lottery.
I have probably had more fun playing playgrounds online than any other sports game I can think of and even the spammer 3 strategy can be stopped if you are smart about it, can block shots and take advantage - the game is that deep.
For 10 bucks it’s a no-brainer, this game is worth 30 easily as a cart.
This is really a great game (10) and a bargain @ $20. These games used to cost the full $50 back in the day. The game looks great on the TV and off as well. The load time is only in between games and didn't bother me as there were tips and control info that helps.
My only gripe is that the full roster is not available right away, but I am determined to unlock everyone. Also, game is challenging in a good way. Plays like NBA JAM with some cool additions (shooting perfect shots, dunks, etc)
Really get this game, if you like basketball it's a solid 10. Best multiplayer game on Switch right now!
It is sad but this game is now evil. This game has some spiritualistic undertones for example Demon ruler, god you pray to, spirits, resurrection etc. I can't believe Nintendo ruined this fantasy series by taking it down this path. None of the prior games were like this at all. The thing is none of this was needed to make the game great. The game would have been great had they stuck to Zelda traditions of the triforce and defeating Ganon.
Now Ganon is a "Demon" and the King (Zelda's father) is a sprit, Link died in a battle long-ago and was resurrected. You gain spirit orbs from evil looking statues and have to pray to some god to gain hearts. I am sure there is worse as most of this content is revealed shortly after you make initial progress and gain the "paraglider".
I am saddened Nintendo ruined such a great series by adding all these unneeded spiritualistic themes/content to what is supposed to be a game safe for kids. I expect the sword fighting and fantasy monsters/enemies, but what me and my kids saw was inappropriate for kids - Everything about this game screams evil.
All this qualifies as a "Teen" game under the suggestive theme content as per below:
TEEN "Content is generally suitable for ages 13 and up. May contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling and/or infrequent use of strong language."
Had this been a Teen game, many people don't buy it for their kids (like me) and I know Nintendo knew this... I am appalled at this oversight by the ESRB (look at their game description) and Nintendo hiding this content....
As it stands both my kids ask me about the game being evil....
You have all been warned.
As for content, I figured I give those who don't care about the spiritualistic side something to think about:
1. This game has not been polished, there are technical issues/glitches and gameplay frustrations that show poor quality control. For example, you are given meaningless tasks that are intended as filler for time such as having to create a specific dish and figure out the last ingredient required from your 1 million food items picked up. It gets better though, one of the ingredients for that dish you can only get by hunting an animal that produces two steaks per kill. The best part is there is only one animal (Bison?) that shows up in one location randomly which is fairly large and you have to explore to find (because that is totally realistic that only one would appear). The point is the task is made a difficult as possible and fills like a plot to get you to waste time.
It gets better, some mountains that you can climb up you will randomly fall off from even if you still have stamina. Also, the bisons I spoke of earlier (that you must hunt) will disappear if chased even in an open field (enemies will also stop following after a while). All these screams poor game design.
2. These random tasks get become frustrating as you have to figure out things on your own with very minimal hints. I suspect a group of people will get bored and stop playing here.
3. The dungeons take like 5 minutes to compete and don't have more than one basic puzzle to solve. It is actually more difficult to find the dungeons than to spend the 5 minutes to clear them.
4. The combat is basic and you will not die fighting until you fight some mini-boss type of character in the open field that kills you with one hit, of course since enemies have no intelligence, the game would be too easy without this cheapness.
5. While supposedly a huge game there is very little to directly interact with that serves any gameplay purpose other than to waste time - the producers of the games could have focused development on the inhabitants of this world rather than making everything so random.
Now you can decide if this game is worth your money based on these issues.

Well this reviewer lost a lot of credibility - so the game is great if free because you think you know how marketing works but paid is a different story? I really believe this game deserves at least an 8 (and my hunch it is a 10) if you factor its audience is people that know people who know more people and you can have a massive game night. 20 people competing in games that will make most laugh is worth it.
However, if you are a single player or only have 1/2 people regularly playing, this is probably not for you and a I can see the six rating. I bet this reviewer played mostly solo and not with 20 people. I have a party scheduled on the 3rd with 12-16 people and I know we will have a great time. All my non-gamer friends loved the videos and can't wait to play.
Bottom line, if you have regular people over, get this.
A 3DS successor will happen - all they need to do is keep development languages similar and they can port over DS type games from the Switch - they are actually already doing this now. There is a need for a portable system that can take a beating like a 3ds/2ds - they have sold too many to stop now. The Switch will be more of a party type of system that you can take with you anywhere and enjoy the games. There is room for both - all Nintendo has done was reimagine the WiI U and give it portability, which would have been great the first time around. Trust me here, this is how business works, once you have an audience, you keep building until they stop coming. Also, if the Switch doesn't perform well, this could be the end of N home consoles for a while. I think there is clearly a market for both systems and both can be supported.
I went to the first 4-5 E3 shows in LA back in the early 2000s and I can tell you that no way is the show worth $150.00-$250.00 for the privilege to play some game demos, see C list celebs, booth "babes", and obtain some dollar promotional schwag that will end up in the trash.
This game will most likely end up being a pack-in game around holidays like Nintendo Land was. I will wait until then to get this. Bomberman and Zelda it is!
Awesome - the Switch will be a huge hit, I am thinking of buying two once stock is Available so I can enjoy the console when my kids are playing too. I have a feeling lots of families with multiple kids will buy two. It's like a slightly more expensive 3DS. If Nintendo allows for one cartridge to support multiplayer modes like the 3DS, people will buy multiple units like I plan to 👍🏼

The problem is not pricing - it's that people who own multiple consoles (or another console) does not want to spend additional funds on another console given options. For someone who will only have one console, these prices are inline with other prices for XB/PS. You guys criticize Big N for joycon prices but for most games a pair of joycons can be shared by two players so u get two player gaming out of the box. The price for 1/2 Switch is inline with similar pricing for Nintendo Land @ retail. Bomberman is a whole new game with voice acting and online play (free until Fall) so you get value there. Plus it uses one joycon per player (under previous generations of consoles, a game like bomberman would require a controller purchase (50$) so the true cost of multiplayer play went up) - u guys complaining are upset at having other hardware for other systems which makes the purchase decision more difficult money wise. I stopped supporting multiple consoles long ago and feel great about the switch. With my Wii U trade, the switch is costing me $105 bucks. Add a joycon package (80), and three games ($140) and I'm at $325 with the ability for 4 players to play bomberman and a party game like 1/2 switch. What you guys need to do is sell your other consoles so your price can come down.
