I've never heard of Ys book before the VC existed and never once saw someone suggest it as a VC title before it was announced, and yet people are treating it like it's the best RPG, if not GAME, ever made when it was announced and now that it's on the VC. What's the deal?
Never count on the VC. It seems we're constantly being disappointed. Never get your hopes up. It will come when it comes. It really is sad that we have to have such a negative attitude about the VC.
But you have to think why that ESRB rating was taken down in the first place.
Oh well, we'll see what happens in a hour or two. I'm hoping it follows in Paper Mario's footsteps. If it does, it will come to Europe in 2 hours and then Monday for NA.
^Umm, most VC games released in the U.S. aren't even rated until weeks after they're released. Plus, it WAS rated, just taken down. I've always believed that the original ESRB rating was taken down because someone did not want the game to be leaked, and I was partly right because now they're saying they're trying to crack down on things like that.
We won't be left completely in the dark. We still have the Japanese release lists and companies like Hudson who leak their games.
Personally I think they've been cracking down on them all along. The games that were removed in 2007 were probably victims of this. I mean, SMRPG is still coming.
Part of your guys' complaints are what I like about the game.
Gameplay: I like its simplicity. Games like FF are too complicated for me, where I have to worry about leveling up materia, invisible stats, level grinding etc. This one you can just play and go. Simple and straight forward. There's also no items that if you didn't get at a early point you'll be screwed or crap like that. There is one, but it's just a frog coin...
Story: It's Mario, so it's what you've come to expect, plus more. There's s a lot of humor and memorable moments, such as Booster and the wedding cake. Don't really need to say but the two people teaming up with you is also one.
Music: No complaints here, but it has a amazing soundtrack IMO.
Yes, I agree that people need to learn to accept that. But when someone comes in and compares the game to Superman 64 it looks like a attempt at trolling. You can't deny people are going to get offended by that.
^Not sure which version you're playing... Everything is available from the start, except for unlockable machines, story missions parts etc. And if there is no racing mode available from the start, then you can't unlock because the only mode the game has is racing. It's a paradox.
Why was the SMRPG page removed? I can understand it being removed from coming soon, but we had some meaningful discussion on that page. And if anything, this article only backs it up...
But for someone just looking for a game to play, that won't matter. Just because it's historically significant doesn't change the fact that it isn't that great by today's standards.
Yes!!! I can't wait to finally try this game, and hopefully Mother 1.
And NintendoBrad, there is no evidence to suggest the fact that SMRPG was removed becasue of issues with Square. All of the games originally rated in 2006 were taken off, and these include games like Super Metroid. Most recently released games aren't even rated yet.
I love the fact that Earthbound got #1. Mother fans have been so neglected over the years and Nintendo seems to have a strong bias towards the series. Well there's no excuse now. Come to reason, Nintendo. Earthbound is your most wanted VC game!
This game is painfully underrated. I think it's just as good, if not, better than DKC2. The levels are the most creative yet, the enemies are interesting (it takes place on a different continent so of course they'll look different) and it's just plain fun to play. The graphics are also the best on the SNES right by SMRPG and still look good today. The only place it falls is in its soundtrack.
Rumor has it that this will come out tomorrow along with Blades of Steel and Rolling Thunder 2. That said, you should definitely get this game. It may not be as good as DKC2, but it's still a great game on its own and worth a purchase.
You forgot the mysterious "???" channel... I wish Nintendo would be more open about this stuff, and not just throw out updates with no explanation. Oh well.
This game is ok. I have fond memories of this game when I was younger but it doesn't stand out like it used to. If you're looking for another racer to buy besides Mario Kart 64 and F-Zero X, you should still get this, though. Just don't expect anything totally mind-blowing.
Yeah, I highly recommend this game. If you liked Super Mario RPG, then you'll love this. If you don't generally like RPG's then you'll probably still like it as this plays a little different and has puzzles in the dungeons to solve sorta like Zelda.
Nevermind, I know what you meant now. Sure, it's faster, but does that even really matter? You're still saving around $20 and once you exit a game on the collection it's just as quick as the Wii Channels because you're already there. And as far as the buttons, there's a PS2 and X-Box version anyway.
"Few things: -Never came out in Europe. -Having to go through the interface isn't as instant as the Wii channels are -A and B are the wrong way round "
I know it never came out in Europe, that's why I said it was nothing for Europe to brag that they got Mega Man 1 on VC when we have Anniversary Collection.
Actually it is if you leave the disc in...
That's just a matter of preference. I personally have no problem with it.
Mega Man isn't really anything to brag to about, since US gamers have Anniversary collection which is a much better deal. Mega Man 2 and 3 are pretty much where it's at anyway.
And the general consensus is that Paper Mario is coming in July.

@x.SuperMario.x
Well said.
Re: EU VC Releases: Super Mario RPG and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels
Surprised no Americans are complaining yet.
Congrats, fellow Europeans! You guys deserve this game.
Re: Goldeneye Locked In Legal Limbo
So if they knew that was such a legal mess over it why did they bother working on it?
Re: The Mascott speaks about the Virtual Console!
I don't see the point in this video. Isn't he just stating the obvious?
Re: Four More Virtual Console Games for South Korea
Korea never even got these games at first did they? This is a pretty neat way for them to catch up.

Gradius 3 was also released in Europe during the festival and that was released in Japan and North America.

Only you can drop the subject.
Re: OFLC Update - Super Mario RPG On Its Way To Europe
Can you please stop posting then? This is big news and deserves attention. It's sucks that this turned into a flame war.
Re: EU - 6th June - No Virtual Console Games!
And what makes you think the chances of it being blocked/bricked are so low? False hope?
Re: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
^Both!
But from the looks of it, SMRPG is going to come out first, so I'd focus on that. Then you'll have plenty of time to get money for Earthbound.

I personally found F-Zero X far harder than GX.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - June 2008 (Super Mario RPG!)
@Will:
Eh, you guys got Mario Kart Wii before us (which I personally think is better than Brawl anyway). I'm sure we know what it feels like...
Re: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Paper Mario came out July 07.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - June 2008 (Super Mario RPG!)
It's bound to come to North America in June too. All AAA games that were announced for Japan came before or shortly after their Japanese counterparts.
Re: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
See? I tried to convince you all it would come out.
5 stars. Best game ever.

Re: Cruis'n USA
Actually, I wouldn't even get Crusin World, I'd wait for Crusin Exotica.

I hope they don't use it as a excuse not to put SSB64 stages in Brawl.

What were they thinking? Lost Levels is limited-time only? That's stupid. I hope it comes back on later.
But yeah, Lost Levels is a must have.

Great game. I got this Monday and I loved it so I went out and bought F-Zero GX. I think GX may be better but this one still shouldn't be ignored.

This game now has a second update in North America... Anyone know what it does? Once again...
Re: F-Zero X
Well, this came out on Japan's VC yesterday. I guess we can expect it to come to the US Monday.
