@Shinobi1Kenobi No one pays list price for xbox stuff. You have every controller ever made? Really? Cool, can I see your controller for your colecovision?
@shgamer Which is why I said in this context. The same or similar words can have different meanings based on context. "This ice cream float is cool" and "Nintendo Life is cool" use the same word for two different meanings.
@Wexter I think digital games are terrible for the consumer. That is why they should be cheaper. They are an inferior good. They can't be resold and will have no value in a decade or two.
Comics simply can't compete with video games. There is a limited amount of entertainment time people have. If comics want to survive they should publish only a few times a year and work on the story more than anything else. They can't simply rely on being cheap and widely available as they did in the past. The market has more choices now and they must respect that.
@Wexter The industry is now better than ever. As much as the neckbeards cry the 2020s are far better for comics than the 90s.
I still don't think anti-trust applies. If anything apple has proven that with their one market for their devices. No company is obligated to sell physical media, nor is it obligated to price it the same as digital downloads.
@HotGoomba No worries. I think we just disagree on what nintendo should be doing. I want to see consoles for adults, and clearly there is some demand for kids consoles with plastic screens and low cost above all else. I think a pro and normal/lite would solve this.
@Wexter The same people who do it now.
Kids, those without credit cards, those with gift cards to spend. People grab them when physical runs out.
This is nothing new.
The point is if physical is the same price you would have to be stupid to buy the digital copy. Just for resale and usage in 20 years.
The movies you speak of are 100 times better than the marvel dreck of the 90s.
The 90s cartoons were better than those comics. Comics had been on a downward spiral for far longer. They couldn't attract the writing talent needed and instead tried to replace it with art.
@PretendWorking From the artwork it sure looks like one. Clearly their marketing failed if I don't even know the genre. Maybe they should have at least gotten that message out.
@HotGoomba 4. Masks work you Covidiot. A lip will protect the glass. Works fine. I shouldn't have to add on stuff that should have been there already. Stop dropping your things. Of course being a Covidiot you can't do that.
@HotGoomba 1. It sucks 2. Yeah, even cheap phones have OLED now. $10 isn't skyrocketing. 4. This is a solved problem, you put a lip around the device. Come on. Even a foam cover like a kids tablet could have been included. 5. that's how bad this display is. 6. Maybe they could have had a pro and a normal unit? Everyone else seems to have made that work.
@HotGoomba Because the color sucks, the view angles are poor, the bezel is massive, the plastic cover is just childish.
I don't even need it to be 1080p, just not stolen out of a vtech pretend laptop.
It's just another way like the X1 instead of the X2, that Nintendo cheaped out.
@OorWullie They don't make games that way anymore. These days executives just want to milk nostalgia. Why pay to make new games when you can port your old crap?
@westman98 My local stores seem to have plenty. I realize this varies by region, besides Nintendo could produce more of them. They just won't take that risk and I understand it, even if I disagree.
@Clyde_Radcliffe Making the switch the target of the game and then adding the others with higher resolution and higher framerates could work. That costs more, as it requires better dev practices and more costly competent employees. They aren't going to make a game for just one console without some exclusive cash.
@KryptoniteKrunch Which is why you get a nintendo console and a sony one. This will get you all their first party and all the third party. Unless you want Halo you don't need an xbox
@Clyde_Radcliffe They can't adjust to the low specs. Sure many games have, but that costs money and requires good development practices. When you are just shoveling the game out the door and just barely hitting your framerate and resolution specs on the PS4/Xbone you have no hope of getting a decent switch port.

Re: Talking Point: There's Never Been A Better Time For Gaming Consumers, Nor A Worse Time For Gaming Innovation
@Wexter What kind of caps only last two years?
I have 20 year old boards in use with good caps.

@impurekind I too am more excited for Quest 2 than anything else.

How novel.

Re: Random: Amazon's Luna Controller Sure Does Look Familiar
@Shinobi1Kenobi I own them both, they are the same general shape, same feel, same 4 way pad. Is the pro controller nicer? Sure it costs more too.
Re: Random: Amazon's Luna Controller Sure Does Look Familiar
@Shinobi1Kenobi For one the stick layout. Go get them and compare. They are basically the same controller. I have them at my house right now.
Re: Nintendo Switch Launches In Brazil With More Than 100 Games Available Day One
I am guessing it costs R$2999.00 Which is 464 Euro or $540.

A new rayman would be amazing.
Re: Brawler64 Aims To Be The Ultimate Wireless N64 Controller
@Thesharkfromjaws Can I have yours?
Fixing them is so easy, I just out of habit fix any I come across.
Re: Random: Amazon's Luna Controller Sure Does Look Familiar
@Shinobi1Kenobi You are nuts. They are almost identical. The stick layout just for starters.
Re: Random: Amazon's Luna Controller Sure Does Look Familiar
So they both look like xbox controllers, who cares?

Cyberverse?
BOO!

Final 2 is pretty silly sounding.
Re: Super Mario 3D All-Stars Is The UK's Third-Biggest Game Launch Of 2020
@LaVelle You are right.
These aren't even ports, they are running in an emulator.
Re: Super Mario 3D All-Stars Is The UK's Third-Biggest Game Launch Of 2020
@JDB1992 Sorry, I forgot it that kind of thing is just not for me.
To me a big game would be metroid or something new mario.
Re: Super Mario 3D All-Stars Is The UK's Third-Biggest Game Launch Of 2020
Since 2020 has no big games for Nintendo, this isn't surprising.
Re: Microsoft Has Just Bought Bethesda, Giving It Doom, Fallout, Elder Scrolls And Wolfenstein
That's unfortunate. Anyone cheering on consolidation in the video game industry is a fool.

Re: Random: Super Mario 3D All-Stars' Cartridge Is Rubbing People Up The Wrong Way
The contents should bother them more. Emulation should not have been used instead of a native port. If I wanted that I would not have to pay a dime.
Re: Is Your Copy Of Super Mario 3D All-Stars Crashing? That's Because You've Got A Modded Switch
$60 for an emulated game?
What a ripoff. They could have at least properly ported them.

Re: Review: Super Mario 3D All-Stars - Three Of Mario's Greatest Adventures Come To Switch
@Wexter I don't see how that applies. Any retailer would be selling digital only games for the same price. Target sells digital games too.
Re: Review: Super Mario 3D All-Stars - Three Of Mario's Greatest Adventures Come To Switch
@Wexter Physical sure, but digital should be much cheaper.
Re: Review: Super Mario 3D All-Stars - Three Of Mario's Greatest Adventures Come To Switch
@Wexter Porting three games from similar systems should't cost $60 a copy. We might soon find it is just running an emulator anyway.
Re: Review: Super Mario 3D All-Stars - Three Of Mario's Greatest Adventures Come To Switch
Alternate title:
Nintendo finds porting old games more profitable than developing new titles.

Re: New Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Glitch Sends Hyrule Into Chaos
@WaxxyOne Back in college with much wimpier CPUs, handcranked you see, we made game engines. So I am familiar. In 2020 this is not ok.
Re: Last Month's Top 10 Switch Games Were All Published By Nintendo (US)
@PretendWorking Astral Chain simply wasn't marketed well, and to many not that good a game. It was a very niche jrpg.
Re: Last Month's Top 10 Switch Games Were All Published By Nintendo (US)
@PretendWorking It was $60 on switch and $20 every where else. It wasn't a good fit for some markets, it never sold well in Japan on any platform.
Yeah the switch is too weak, it should have at least been an X2. It wouldn't solve the x86 vs ARM issues, but it should would have helped.
Nintendo
Re: Last Month's Top 10 Switch Games Were All Published By Nintendo (US)
@HotGoomba I call you the guy with no Xbone games to play in a decade or two. Digital games are all rentals.

Re: Nvidia Is Purchasing Chip Designer Arm, And That Could Be Very Good News For Nintendo
@Pod Which exact chips does ARM fab?
They don't. They license out designs, and standards. They will continue to do that.
Re: Last Month's Top 10 Switch Games Were All Published By Nintendo (US)
@PretendWorking Perhaps because it is a very old game? It was released in 2015 and cheaper on every other console. Much cheaper on PC.
Releasing old games on new platforms at full new price is not a winning recipe.

@HotGoomba So does everyone with a couple nickels to rub together. Nintendo needs to stop cheaping out. At least a decent display next time

@HotGoomba A lot more would buy it if it could also get AAA third party games.

What you mean is the Switch isn't getting any good third party games.
This writer should be embarrassed.
