Re: Mini Review: Stardew Valley: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Almost The Cream Of The Crop

@gcunit, This is absolutely the reason why I just cannot get into Stardew Valley, or most so-called “relaxing” or “cozy” farm sims. I’m sure this is a ‘me’ problem, but I’ve never understood how one can call a game relaxing, when there is a in-game clock ticking. The one cozy sim I can get behind, however, is Littlewood, because time passes with each action. With Stardew, I just feel like the gods of time and efficiency are breathing down my neck the whole time.

Dunjungle is absolutely solid. Its gameplay/loop is indebted to the Dead Cells style of roguelites, but the colorful art style definitely scratches a 90s SNES itch, to those who tire of doom-and-gloom themes, vibes, and color palettes. Plus, it controls wonderfully, and there’s a demo. Highly recommended.

Oh for crying out out, it’s a breezy, pleasant opinion piece written by a journalist on a Saturday. Is nothing safe from seething rage and hatred anymore? My goodness! If you’re so furious about fall damage, go play cautiously outside in the grass, or something. Jeez Louise.
That said, I’m gonna go jump off Mount Edge Peak in Mira, NOT take any damage, and love every second of it!

I’m still patiently awaiting a Western remaster of Knights in the Nightmare. Considering the recent bump in shmup popularity and the stagnation of SRPGs, Knights would be such a welcome breath of fresh air for restless newcomers, and a delightful trip down memory lane for us old farts who played it on DS back in the late ‘00s.
