Not to defend Nintendo and its all-too-obvious willingness to rip off retro-hungry fans, the reason SMW and the lot aren't included is probably the fact that they're virtually unplayable with the standard Wii Remote. Had they included those, they probably would've had to include a Classic controller also, which would've upped the price quite a bit. I guess they could have released two collections, one with only SMB 1-3 and another, more expensive one with SMW, YI, SM64 and so forth.
That being said, while I agree with you that it's mostly a lazy cash-in and that the European slowdown issues are inexcusable, with $30 you really do get your money's worth. The bonus stuff and nifty packaging are, at least to me, easily worth the extra money.
I'm glad we get a port of this smash cult hit. Seriously though, what was the last time anything noteworthy was released on WiiWare? Like, Mega Man 10 or something?
I can't even think of anything Poirot-related without David Suchet, and I didn't even like the book that much (even though I'm a massive Agatha Christie geek), so I'll probably pass.
I had had 300 spare points on my DSi for months and I decided to use them for this. It's a nice little time killer, I didn't really expect much and those expectations were certainly met. If only this had FreeCell and more difficulty settings for Spider this'd be perfect, but I guess it's okay.
Own the GBA port, great game, possibly the second best Zelda ever. Even to this day I'm one heart piece and one Ganon-beating away from completing this game perfectly.
Loved all the games, but still, glad it comes to an end. I really don't have the extra money or the extra energy it takes to go a couple dozen miles to the nearest bigger city by train to buy a Wii Points card (and movies, music, games and other things, I mean, if I came this far I'll have to buy something) and bam, 50-70 or something euros and hours of highschooler's oh-so-precious time succesfully wasted. The series was great, but I think it's time for the Chapmans (Chapmen?) to get back to the website and Telltalers to other projects. I don't want a second season, at least not in a while.
I might be getting this when/if I get enough money, since DS has been on my shopping list for ages and I still haven't bought it. And Virtual Console in my pocket sounds great.
My guess is that their "better than a hard drive"-geniusmindblast will be a 32-digit code that they send you after you've bought the game, and if you want to actually PLAY the game, you'll only need to write the code (which changes every day, of course), and when you're finished with playing, the game deletes and you'll be given a new code.
Best Mega Man game. I remember trying to play it at my neighbour's when I was something like eight years old, and it was IMPOSSIBLE. Especially the Quick Man stage (damn lasers). Now it took me about five hours to complete the game on both difficulties. Hmh.
When I first heard about this, I jumped through the roof and told everybody I know. They won't answer my calls or talk to me anymore, but I'm sure it's gonna be worth it.

Re: Features: Bizarre Emails Sent to Nintendo Life - Volume 2
I like the idea of the Able sisters getting bigger as Tom Nook's store does.
Re: Watch Dr. Wily's Between-Game Preparations, D.I.Y.-Style
Mega Man + "The Fly" reference = Awesome.

Re: Virtual Console Confirmed for DSiWare
"Hey Little Jimmy, they confirmed VC for DSi, and your grandma's also come back to life somehow! APRIL FOOLS HAHAHA"
Re: It's Official: Big-Screen DSi LL is Confirmed
Oh come ON, Nintendo. The DSi is not even a year old.

All the great people die. R.I.P., Captain.
Re: French Government Lobbied To Establish Retro Gaming Museum
There was a turning point in my student life when I had to choose between German and French lessons. Now I wish I would've chosen otherwise.

Re: Review: Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters (DSiWare)
Man I sucked at Word Scramble in the second game. I don't think I ever made it less than 3 minutes.

Re: Strong Bad Episode 5 - Screens and Trailer
@Clayfrd: No, you don't just watch it. You live it.
Re: Devil World
@StarDust: Actually, I'm pretty sure that Benedict XVI pardoned Darwin not too long ago. I'm not sure, but I recall hearing something about it.
Re: Strong Bad Episode 4: Dangeresque 3 Coming To US WiiWare On Monday
@SmaMan: No way! Dangeresque: Put 'Em On Ice was amazing!
Wow, Dangeresque 3 and Chinese Democracy get released in the same year. Duke Nukem Forever can't be far away.
But yeah, I'm still waiting for Baddest of the Bands, so I'll propably play through it before I get this.
Re: Devil World
So you play as a dragon, who represents the Devil, and you're fighting against the Devil? He kills himself?

Nintendo! Now you're playing with pen and paper!
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - September 2008
Wagyan Land! The game's so dumb and stupid and dumb that it's a piece of art. The bosses are word games, people!
And by the way, if you see a picture of a pig in this game, it's not "pig". It's "oinker".
Re: Review: Strong Bad Episode 1 - Homestar Ruiner (WiiWare)
Good review, although I might've given the game an 8, but then again, I'm playing it through my rose-red fanboy glasses.
Re: Strong Bad's Homestar Ruiner Gets Release Date!
US-residents get this for 1000 Wii Points = $10? And we Europeans get this for 1000 Wii Points = 10€ = $15?
So, we have to pay something like 50% extra? That's great, Telltale, great, thank you.
Re: Top 10 Racing Games We Want To Come To The Virtual Console
You forgot C64's Stunt Car Racer.
Re: Mega Man 9
1000 points is a lot, but I don't care. I'd buy a second Wii for this game (don't ask me why I should, but if I'd have to, I would).
