People that claim the next console announcement (which may well not be a 'Switch 2' on that note) might hurt Christmas sales are not considering that people who are buying Switches now aren't the same people who are clamouring for a new console announcement
If they're counting all the crap shovelware on the Switch then they should accurately try to represent the PC as well, both in 'years active' and the amount of games on PC, which is -vastly- more if we measure by the same metrics...
Asking the wrong questions to be fair. Nintendo, more often than not, tries to delight by doing something -new-, which is why I doubt they'll go for a 'Switch 2'. The successor will surprise us.
No issue with people using save states or such, whatever makes 'em happy and have a good time.
I wouldn't call Zero Mission a particularly difficult game though, and I think there is something to be said on cheesing yourself out of the experience.
I feel they did Zelda dirty a little bit.. don't get me wrong, the game looks fantastic, but truth be told I was hoping for her debut to be in a 'main line' entry!
@RonF Agreed on the advertising, it was very weak compared to Three Houses, which in itself was quite telling as it felt like what they had on their hands was paperthin.
As for the nostalgia element, I think that could go both ways. For people not familiar with the series it didn't mean much. I've played many an entry in the series and to me it absolutely felt like pandering, much likes FE: Heroes.
Lyndis is perhaps my favourite FE character, but I was not at all excited to see her shoved into a game with a garbage story and among crappy characters.
@Ulysses Ah, yeah that's fair! I was mildly intrigued for the 'next' FE on Switch after Three Houses which I quite enjoyed, and it sounded like Engage would have some mechanics from back then, but after seeing the kind of characters we'd get and the lacklustre premise for the story I'd given up on it by that point.
FE4 through to FE8 (including 5 yes) were amazing, and Three Houses seemed novel enough to give it a go, Engage just seemed like such a misstep
Hold on, "the reason for the discrepancy is simple"? It has -nothing- to do with its mechanics. It's that it wasn't the big mainline console entry that Three houses was, which itself wasn't trash like Engage - genuine FE fans had no reason to be excited for it and -that- was reflected in the numbers

@Max_the_German It's not Volgar, it's not Volgar, it's not Völlgar. It's Völgarr

@Ulysses You would compare the art style of Engage to the GBA games? With its Colgate protagonist o.O
