In the end it was a very profitable business decision, I don't think anyone can deny that but it was still a very predatory like move since considering the end product we did get, wouldn't of got nearly that amount of sales that quickly, and they're definitely gonna get a boost the last couple days this month And they know it.
Regardless whether or not they plan on re-releasing the games separately after this, it's still very anti consumer especially when we don't know if they'll even do the separate releases. 3D all stars wasn't some special collector's edition that had a bunch of expensive extras added that warranted a limited run, it was a standard release title would of normally been the cheaper option between a real limited collectors edition that would continue to sell for years after the limited edition stopped, which any other time is exactly what they would of done like any of their other big sellers even if there wasn't a premium edition. Plus It's 3D All Stars, not some niche title that would struggle selling, that's why a lot of people have criticized this move and rightfully so.
I don't think anyone will ever argue whether he is capable of achieving such high scores, he did prove that he could perform really well legitimately last year after this was called to attention. The thing is though it just makes his supposed cheating that much more egregious.
Like you have the skill to be one of the best, yet you still pulled this stunt where now you'll always be labelled a cheat and heavily questioned from here on out on any scores you mad or make in the future... Why? Hell even If we give Billy the benefit of the doubt and he truly didn't know he got that score on original hardware, then sadly that's a baffling oversight especially when a guy like him knows just how particular and anal they are about the rules on whats allowed and what isn't.
Either way this is a blemish on Billy's high score reputation and no amount of suing is ever gonna get rid of it, if anything it's just gonna make it that much bigger if you ask me.
Very curious where the source of this talking piece came from, cause I seriously doubt there was that many people with such high expectations for Labo VR. The fact that it's linked with the Labo brand alone probably tempered 95% of people's expectations out of the gate. This article definitely falls under the "Well no you know what!" category lol.
Is it an annoying aspect for tournament organizers? Sure, but considering there's already been a method found to unlock all the fighters fairly quickly, not to mention we've known about having to unlock everyone but the original 8 for a while now, so this "issue" just comes off as kind of petty since it's only gonna apply to the ones who wanted to host a tournament right out of the gate anyway. In a month or two, this won't be a hurdle for any legit tournament anyway.
Plus do these guys not remember that it once took a bare minimum of 5 hours of total in game multiplayer just to unlock 1 character in Melee? I'll take unlocking 60+ characters in the span of a couple hours over 10-15 characters over the course of 5 to 10 hours any day.
Sure I can see why games might need to be optimized for the online play element, but Nintendo you've had a year in a half to get a lot of these games ready for the service. This slow drip feed of classic games for a 2nd time.... I just don't get it. I mean The Wii released Virtual console games at better pace than this and that was like a decade ago, there's no excuse for this to be happening again.
