@splinters Yep, I absolutely agree. N64 will always be my favourite console and I think it’s because the relative paucity of games meant I played all of those gems to completion and, as you say, absolutely got my moneys worth! For jaw dropping gaming moments it was second to none - riding the waves in WaveRace, the sniper rifle in the first level of Goldeneye, stepping out into Hyrule Field. Just awesome…
@splinters Wow! Comet! I’d forgotten about Comet! Happy days - N64 launch day is still my favourite console launch ever. Playing Mario 64 for the first time was just awesome - there will never be another new game experience that comes close! But I’ll be more than happy to take a spin on Mario Kart World on June 5th. In Currys we trust!
@splinters That’s really interesting! I also pre-ordered from Curry’s and I was wondering what the £9999 thing was all about. Thanks for explaining, I feel more reassured that I’ll hopefully have a console waiting for me on launch day now. I really liked the process in Curry’s of filling in a paper form to get my pre-order. I vaguely remember the same process when ordering my N64 28 years ago….
Great article! I’m colour blind too and the worst game for me was Puyo Puyo / Mean Bean Machine… But even worse than that, for a Welshman like me, is trying to watch Wales v Ireland in the Six Nations. It’s so hard to tell the teams apart! (Except for the fact that Ireland are probably the team scoring all the points). Check out this article for a great example of how things look to colour blind people. Basically the two pictures at the top of the article look exactly the same… https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-60229589
Definitely right about Monster Max. It's basically Jon Ritman working for Ultimate! It was a Spectrum dream team! It was awesome, but I never finished it. It had a password based save system as I recall, so an NSO version with save states would be great. I've always been toying to get an Analogue pocket primarily for games just like Monster Max and Kirby's Tilt and Tumble, that you couldn't get on the 3DS virtual console. However the high import costs make the Analogue pocket too hard to justify. But now Kirby's Tilt and tumble is coming to NSO so here's hoping for Monster Max as well...
What was the one in A Link To The Past where the girl turned into a monster when you blew up the wall / roof to shine light on her? That was clever. I liked that one…
I don’t think anyone else has said them yet so I’m going for Birdman from Pilotwings 64…
With honourable mentions also for Victory Podium 4th Place in Wave Race 64 and Love is In The Air from Yoshi’s Story…
@NinChocolate That’s a fantastic spot! I love their artwork, love those links you’ve posted too. Their take on Gwen and Merida is awesome. While I do love the old Nintendo Mii’s I played the Switch sports trial with my teenage daughters yesterday and they absolutely adored the new art style. If we get the chance to create our own new Mii’s in the style of these talented artists, I’ll be more than happy. We’ll done, great spot!
The 8-Bit Big Band are awesome. Check out their cover of Birdman from Pilotwings 64. I have no idea how to post a link to it but it's well worth searching it out...
@ncgarcez Quackshot was the MegaDrive DuckTales equivalent and you’re right - it was great! Sadly it wasn’t on the MegaDrive mini so I’m hoping for to turn up on NSO too…
@PALversusNTSC Great shout with Pilotwings 64 - especially Birdman. Theres also a great version of it out there by The 8-Bit Big Band.
Also from the N64 is Wave Race 64 Victory Podium 4th Place which is just awesome. Coming in 4th overall was not easy without crashing out altogether but it was totally worth it for this music.
And Kate, you're right about not staying up too late in Animal Crossing New Horizons but check out 5AM, especially the 'Rain' version - its the most relaxing hours music of the whole day...
The scariest moment in gaming was the Big Boo’s Haunt level in Super Mario 64 when the piano came to life and started trying to bite me! Jumped out of my skin...
@FX102A The Eon GC HDMI Mk II is awesome. Looks fantastic on a HD TV and it’s great introducing my children to 4 player Mario Kart Double Dash and Mr Driller Drill Land. I would highly recommend it. Reminded me just how brilliant the GameCube is!
This game was fantastic. Particular highlights were the Indiana Jones inspired Drindy Adventure and the brilliant 4 player game where you could connect up your GBA to use as a controller. As an import it would work with Freeloader but wouldn't save. I bought a second hand Spice Orange Gamecube from Japan just to be able to save my progress and it was worth every penny. It's just a genius game!
Hello everybody! After years of reading Nintendo Life I've finally signed up just to say...
Mr Driller Drill World!
Imported a second hand spice orange Gamecube just to get the save game to work and it was absolutely worth it! Not only the greatest game cube game but also the GBA and link cable game was awesome!

@bonjong23 I think I read that he’s a tribute to highway patrol officer named Kevin Briggs, much like the Robin Williams and Satoru Iwata tributes.

Re: Poll: Which Wii Sport Is The Best Wii Sport In Wii Sports (And Which Is The Worst)?
@RandomNerds You’re absolutely right about Wii U Sports Club Golf! Still the best use of the Game Pad ever - it was absolute genius!

Re: Random: Nintendo Kart Is Trending On Social Media, Following Claims Of Mario Kart 9 Being "In Active Development"
Mario Kart Ultimate with every course from every Mario Kart game and the ability to create your own custom cup. That’ll do nicely, for me.

Hi NintendoLife. The third paragraph from the end probably needs changing from ‘can categorically’ to ‘can’t categorically’.
