As usual Nintendo have no idea how to price their games in a sale. People won't buy at these prices when they can get physical copies for the same or less. The games so far have been available for same or less at different times from some retailers even if not available right now.
If these were priced at say £15-20, I suspect they would sell much better. Look at the sale prices we've had for Capcom, Ubisoft and Bandai Namco. I would have bought several if priced right.
Hopefully we'll have some decent non-Nintendo eShop sales at Christmas.
I don't see why there is any suggestion this would come to Wii U if EA were involved. Like most other 3rd parties, EA gave up on Wii U long ago. They will never release another game on Wii U and nobody would surely think otherwise. And frankly with strong rumours of NX next year I'd be surprised if anyone beyond Indies would start development on any new Wii U games now. Such a shame as such a great console.
I'm curious to know if the gameplay is the same as the existing Lego games. If it is then it will be a far more expensive way of playing, surely it should offer new gameplay that is different from the existing Lego games. Otherwise I'll get my Lego gaming fix from the existing games.
@AtomicSoda Oh I see. I agree with the 2 player online together, they really should add it. We know its possible with one on Gamepad, one on TV, both online, it works really well on COD. So a kid friendly shooter to play online together with the kids would really be great.
My 7yr old really loved the demo, so I think she'll enjoy playing 2 player mode with me.
If there are server problems when the game is released, obviously Nintendo will fix it. I'm not defending them but I wouldn't be afraid to buy it just because there may be some issues early on. I don't understand all the negative overreactions.
@AtomicSoda Seems a little over reactive to me. If the reviews are great why would you deny yourself a great game just because you didn't get to play a demo? Many games have no demo released but if a game reviews well and I'm interested then I'll still by it!
I usually wait for reviews unless it's a game I'm really interested in and all the previews indicate it's good. The previous test sessions and a bargain price of £22 was enough to convince me on this.
Personally I found the Gamepad became a little heavy and uncomfortable using the motion control after a while so will try the twin stick control this weekend.
I hope they take the same approach as with Pikmin 3 and add as many control options as possible, including Wiimote. Give the players as much choice as possible and there should be a control scheme that suits everyone. Either way my pre-order will stay in place, as I thought it was great fun.
I played 12pm (UK) session and thought it was good fun. But the pad gets a bit uncomfortable after a while. I'm hoping the full game can be played with Wiimote and Nunchuck (like COD) as that would be much easier to control.
Well I still have loads of fun playing multiplayer on Ghosts and Black Ops 2, you cannot beat Wiimote controls. So I'd love Black Ops 3 to come to Wii U, but doubt it will. I will not go back to Dual Analogue controls for COD.
If Black Ops 2 and Ghosts sold 250k copies on Wii U then why are there only around 500 to 800 players on Ghosts online? I hope Black Ops 3 is on Wii U bit I don't think it will be. Shame because you cannot beat the Wiimote controls for COD.
For anyone in the UK thinking of getting a Wii U, there are some great deals on the basic model at the moment across various internet retailers, Zavvi, Shopto, Base, Tesco. Basic model plus various games for between £160-£180. A premium model is not essential. And the Wii U is great.
There have been some games using the gamepad well, Deux Ex, Batman Arkham City. But for me off screen play is invaluable and I get far more gaming because of it. I know for a fact I wouldn't use any other console as much.
Nintendo should market the Wii U by highlighting its strengths - backwards compatibility, off screen play, exclusive games, unique gamepad functionality, free online gaming (yes free, really).
Wii U is a great console. Yes I'd love more 3rd party support but I have never regretted buying my Wii U and have enough games already for years to come.
I doesn't matter when this DLC was coded. I don't think anyone could argue that MK8 isn't good value, it has just as much content as the previous games.
The price for this DLC seems reasonable compared to other DLC. Buy it or don't, simple choice. Hopefully online play won't be affected when some players have the extra tracks and some don't. The new tracks must surely work online.
I hope the discounted price applies regardless of when you buy. I don't want to wait until May 15 to buy just to get the discount.
I would guess that it was already coded from the start, just like Freefall was on Ghosts. Why Activision took so long to release is the weird bit.
Just because its an old game and an old map, doesn't make it bad. So if you have the game and like it, why not play it. There's still more playing this online than Ghosts. You could probably pick the game up for £10 now, it is a very good game if you like COD. Better than Ghosts in my opinion, but Ghosts is better than people say it is.
Mahe is entitled to his opinion and we all know what it is. Yes that's right, he HATES the gamepad. He tells us this in every thread. No-one will change his view. I tend to skip past his comments personally.
Perhaps he will sell his Wii U as the gamepad is so terrible.
I'm disappointed I can't play it yet as my pre-order from The Hut hasn't arrived yet. Stupidly they didn't dispatch it until late on 29/05, I certainly won't be pre-ordering from them again. Hope it arrives tomorrow so that I can join in the fun!
@ScorpionMG Yes, that fits with CoD Black Ops and MW3 both still working as I pointed out in my earlier post. So yes, hopefully the Activision games are on different servers and will stay!
As I said in a post on the reminder article, CoD Black Ops and MW3 online are both still working with 1000+ still playing. I'm hoping the different 'Wi-Fi Compatible" logo (they don't have the usual blue logo) mean they run on different servers!
I've just tried Mario Kart and got the discontinued message. But for those interested, both Call of Duty Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3 are both still running online.
Now maybe they will be switched off too but I notice that both games do not have the usual blue coloured "Nintendo Wi-Fi connection" logo on the box, they have a different black coloured "Wi-FI Compatible" logo instead. So maybe they run on different servers?
I've mostly moved on to Wii U COD but I do like to go back to Black Ops and MW3 now and again, so fingers crossed!

Re: Feature: Reflecting On Three Years With The Wii U - Part One
@Yorumi I agree, what a strange article to write when NX isn't even out yet and there are still admittedly relatively few more games still to come.
That said, this is the best console I've ever had and I won't be looking to buy another console anytime soon.
