@Paraka I was just thinking the same thing too. I haven't been this attached to a system since the Super Nintendo either. I have loved them all but there is something about the Switch that just has a hold on me. I think it has a lot to do with the TV/Handheld part, it just makes it such a personal system and I feel like I've got an emotional attachment to it. I get so excited just to go home after work and log hours into my games because I know it's always gonna be a good time and the hardware itself is so addictive.
The hotels were not the first thing. Check out that link and you can see. And there are documentaries on Nintendo on Youtube also. Hanafuda is the first. I wanted to get you a straight source from Nintendo itself.
@sillygostly I love stories like this, just goes to show that those elitists are wrong and "real" Nintendo fans don't only consist of people playing from the NES and SNES era.
@hiptanaka I really have to agree with the agressive enemies statement. I wish they were more neutral, everything is trying to kill you which pretty much makes it necessary to clear a room whenever you go in if you want to thoroughly look around. Something I think that would have helped this problem out would have been to at least make the flying enemies only attack if shot at.
@patbacknitro18 I see your point there. I really need to just play this one already so I can stop hearing all the controversy and make my own opinion on it.
I've been playing Samus Returns right now so maybe I'll buy it after I get the SNES Classic and give SM another run. Without spoilers how are you liking Samus Returns so far if you have it? I've got about 13 Metroids left and I find the game outstanding. Definitely not better than SM, but it holds its own among the 2D games. Still have a soft spot for Metroid 2 though over the remake.
@patbacknitro18 I didn't mean repercussions for turning the missions down, I mean for disobeying orders while on an a mission giving to her by the GF. In Other M is she given the mission she is on by the GF? I'm not trying to defend it, just trying to see if there would be a logical explanation.
@patbacknitro18 I know being a Bounty Hunter means that you just pretty much take on jobs and make money being a freelance law enforcer. So she has some freedom. But in Metroid 1-4 all those missions are given to her by the Galactic Federation. If she disobeys direct orders I'm sure she would have repercussions from doing so. I haven't played Other M, but I guess you could see it like that. Not sure how to explain the Ridley thing though.
@Lost_Hope This makes sense, I've never actually seen any promotional media for the games so I always pictured her as most other's I know do. I never wrote off Other M as being bad, but I've always been hesitant to play it. I'm gonna pick it up soon after I have my run through the series again.
@MegaTen I have yet to play Other M. Could you explain why you believe that people did not understand his vision? I hear from all over that he ruined Samus' character and would love to hear an opposite take on it.
I don't mind it and never minded it in the first game either. Helps me get to know the stages better and stops people from spam choosing the same stages over and over. I look at Salmon Run as a cool in game job, of course it doesn't show up all the time. And if it did it would cause people to play less of the main game mode of Turf War which could cause other problem like matchups. Plus the rewards from Salmon Run are used for Turf War so it just is a useful cycle.
People are getting worked up over the whole they let us play it how they think we should thing. Technically every game you play does this as they aren't asking us what we want from another game in so and so series, developers just make the thing. If you want to complain about that then why not moan about each system not being the equivalent of a development kit or games all not having debug modes so you can play them exactly how you want. Get over it, they are right in my eyes.
I see a lot of nostalgia goggles this and that, Super Mario Kart is not a bad game and is one of the Mario Karts that actually needed skill driving to even be good at the game. The items were well balanced not like today and the mechanics are very solid to this day. There's also nothing wrong with the graphics either, still looks great and has aged well too. The only other games that even really needed skill to just drive in this series that I can think of are Double Dash and MK8 200CC. SMK deserves the spot it has on this list.
I do wish Gran Turismo 2 was even on this list, and Daytona USA being there is a nice runner up.
I don't think it has to do with nostalgia. People will pick the good games in the end. And SMK totally fits that. If we were doing top metroidvania games or something I don't think if Super Metroid showed up as #1 anyone would be saying it was from nostalgia goggles just because there are newer 3D games that some may think are better.
@NIN10DOXD The ports are on the front, the ones you see are fake. The front flips down showing the real ports for the Wii connection. Look at the last image close to the end of the article. They show it there.
@Eric258 This is the same for me also. When I go to work I play it in tabletop mode, at home mostly docked and some handheld. It just has that ability to mold to whatever you want it to be. Tabletop mode is surprisingly great too though, I think it's my favorite way to play. And I can even play ARMS just fine like this too. It's somehow becoming my favorite system as well, considering some great games I've played so far on it and all the ones I know I'll love to death that haven't released.
@G-Boy It probably was since someone playing from another country with a japanese player could possibly see it still. Unless it would patch the other player too from visibly doing that.
@sillygostly Double Dash is my favorite Mario Kart and would be perfect for the Switch in terms of local multiplayer like the GC original and just in title alone as well. Mario Kart Switch, how obvious would it be to have a return to DD with switching characters. If Nintendo did this I wouldn't know how to contain my excitement. I just hope that it's a long way off seeing as I need time to completely wreck MK8D still.
@Grumblevolcano As good as MK8D is I'd still want to see a Switch Mario Kart. I played the heck out of MK8 on Wii U and even got close to a World Record so I don't mind seeing a more added to Deluxe, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't make a new game. I do see the plus side to what you're saying though. MK8D is huge and could stand up to the task of being the Switch's main Mario Kart if nurtured just a bit more. They could be planning on letting Mario Kart sleep this gen and give something like F-Zero and Metroid some time to shine. Which would be kind of cool to see happen for once and have them hold off on MK9 until the next system.
@Grumblevolcano I don't know if that would go over well. It's already a definitive version type of game, so to announce DLC for it would be kinda wrong. I think whatever they could put new in MK8D would probably just be saved for Mario Kart Switch. That's if we get a Switch original Mario Kart game.
