Hamster's SNK games have been announced for Japan, at least. The PS4 versions got international releases. WindJammers, Metal Slug 3 and Shock Troopers amongst others.
I just have one question - is the included AC adapter meant to work for the Switch like the 3DS charger works for the 3DS or is the included adapter for the dock only?
I need Klonoa, Okami and The Last Story. Bandai Namco and Capcom have been pretty supportive with regards to VC and the likes so far so fingers crossed. TLS was even published by Nintendo themselves (at least in Europe) so go, go, go!
I don't think people fully grasp how many absolutely fantastic games there are that are available on the U through either Wii retail discs, Wii VC, Wii U retail discs and its VC exclusives. The amount is absolutely astonishing.
Take Metroid as an example. People are quick to point out the lack of a Prime sequel or whatever but forget about the fact that there are 8 Metroid games available for the U.
On the couch with the Gamepad + stand resting on my knees playing Super Metroid with the Nintendo Club Super Famicom Classic Controller and a decent set of headphones. One of my best gaming experiences ever. Love the U.
The SNES VC games look fantastic, they definitely should have done the same for the NES stuff. Anyway, I only play on the Gamepad with brightness set to max and it easily does the job for me. It's darker, sure, but I just skip watching comparison vids and play on happily because the comparisons are pointless. Make no mistake, I think the NES Mini looks fantastic but it looks nothing like a NES hooked up to a CRT with RCA cables. The Wii U wins for "authenticity" if that's what your after.
The collection we got in the West is the double pack that was released in Japan, so we basically got the two collections in one. We'll hopefully get a second collection containing the Japanese 3rd and 4th collection.
Atlus have announced Shin Megami Tensei - Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers.
You forgot to mention Tales of Xillia in your list. It has been announced by Namco Bandai USA. They've also announced Project X Zone for 3DS.
Aksys Games have announced Muramasa Rebirth for Vita and Hakouki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi for PSP.
Xseed have announced Killer is Dead (not an RPG, I know) and Rune Factory 4 for 3DS, and they recently released Corpse Party: Book of Shadow for PSP (download only).
Monkey Paw Games have announced Class of Heroes 2 for PSP (download only as of now).
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will obviously be released in NA/EU.
I think you can rely on Xseed, Aksys and NIS America to continue to support the "niche market".
Regarding your last paragraph, I totally understand what you're saying and I don't think we will see many "niche" RPGs on the system at all. The good thing, however, is that most of the RPG stuff that has been released for the 3DS (in both Japan and USA) hasn't really been niche. They've been major titles. Just look at what we've gotten so far:
Fire Emblem: Awakening
Kingdom Hearts: DDD
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked
Tales of the Abyss
Unchained Blades (download only, niche, not major )
In the future we'll have:
SMT DS: Soul Hackers
More Pokemon
Project X Zone
Persona 4
Monster Hunter Tri G
Monster Hunter 4
Etrian Odyssey IV
To be fair, if you look at a list of RPG's released in Japan for the 3DS, you won't find much more than what I've listed above.
Other than that, I really, really want to see Bravely Default getting a localization.

@Gauchorino Ah, I see, my bad then. That's too bad, would really like to play Streets of Rage. Guess I'll have to settle for some digital.

Totally getting Hyrule Warriors for the Wii U when Linkle & co. becomes available.
Re: Review: Parascientific Escape Cruise in the Distant Seas (3DS eShop)
CIRCLE is a localization company and not a developer. Intense developed the game.
