Re: Dragon Quest XI Is Coming To The Nintendo 3DS And Nintendo NX

MrJumpAndRun

Cool. This is now the first official announcd game for NX. Two things are of interest:

  1. A third-party developer announces a game in before Nintendo has officially unveiled the console or future games. Square Enix has thus already a DevKit and found NX good enough to publish a blockbuster like DQ for it. This gives us hope for the future in terms of 3rd Party Support.
  2. Recently there was the rumour NX does not compete with the PS4 in graphics. But since the game also appears for the Playstation the NX version is either much better or is based on the 3DS version. (hybrid console)

I think that NX is a WiiU Gamepad 2.0, has a 3DS slot to upscale 3DS games for the television. But that's just a guess.

As for the 3DS version. Cool idea with the two graphic styles. I like it very well. I would probably buy it. And I hope they release it in the west.

Re: Talking Point: Assessing the Odds of Super Mario Maker Making a Commercial Splash This September

MrJumpAndRun

This game is 100% fan service to every retro gamer.
I believe that many young gamers don't see the appeal of Super Mario Maker because they have not played the old games but every person who grow up with Mario Bros/World should have an eye on this.

I don't think that Super Mario Maker has the same target audience like Halo, Assassins Creed, Fifa or Metal Gear Solid.
This is a game made for long time Nintendo and Mario Fans.
People who are not fans of old Mario Games or have some nostalgic feelings won't buy this.

Nintendo does not make games to challenge Sony or Microsoft in sales. They do because they want to entertain people with their products. It doesn't matter if Halo or Star Wars sell more units. If Nintendo makes profit they achieved their goal

Re: Poll: What Do You Want From Nintendo's NX Platform?

MrJumpAndRun

My wildest dream wish is a Nintendo Steam Machine which has all the Nintendo games we love exclusive AND every game that's on steam.
But probably NX is a "New WiiU lite" with more power and a Slot for 3DS games in the gamepad controller. But I don't believe that the new gamepad controller works as a handheld. It was told the third party developers like the new system. Probably because NX upscales 3DS games. Not in HD but graphics should be okay. So they can easily make 3DS games and offer it immediately to the home console audience without extra cost. So the news that NX don't compete with PS4 graphics makes sense. Because it doesn't have to. It's still a WiiU.

MrJumpAndRun

If this game would have been a WiiU Launch title in 2012, everyone would have understood what is the special thing at the WiiU , and what the gamepad can be used for.
I believe this game can be a huge success. I know you will buy it. And you!. But will it sell hardware? Now that the next System is mentioned?
No matter! This is my personal game of the year/ decade/ generation.
I sure will play this game in 20 years. Like I play Super Mario World today.
64 days left!

Re: Talking Point: Raw Power Isn't Vital to Nintendo's NX, But It Does Matter

MrJumpAndRun

What Nintendo NX probably is:

a "New WiiU lite" with some extra power and a developer-friendly hardware. Still works with every WiiU game.
The new system will have no Tablet Gamepad. But you can use a new3DS or a WiiU Gamepad/ Pro Controller for the controls. Extra Gimmick: When you use a new3DS as a Controller, you can play your DS/3DS/new3DS games on your TV screen.

what the NX should be:
a Steam Machine produced by Nintendo.

  • Unified Steam and Nintendo Account
  • full access to the whole Steam library from Day1
  • compatible to Wii and WiiU games
  • Half Life 3 confirmed, exclusive to the Nintendo System
